    Get More Welcome Back Greetings

    Hi Galina!

Phew! I’m glad you’re home at last! Welcome Back my Dear Friend! Did you have a nice time? How’s your mom doing? Hope she’s in fine health. (Sorry, I forgot to ask you to give my Love & Regards to her!)

As for me…, what can I say? Someone left me alone for a few days when I needed her most! No, I’m just kidding My Dear! I know, the first thing that you did upon reaching home was dropping me that few lines (which I was waiting for earnestly, to be honest), saying that you’re back. That’s very thoughtful of you. You’re always polite and considerate towards those who are close to you. Oh, how I wish I were one of your students so that I can get enough of this special treatment every single day! Alas, I’m too old for that privilege…! Yes, that reminds of me something. Please convey my Best Regards to your students as well, especially my winner, when you see them tomorrow. Could you do that for me, please?!

Well, regarding the time I spent here at “MyEC”, the usual Interacting, Commenting, doing Blog Posting, Welcoming new Members, yadda yadda yadda…! Let’s forget about me; I wanna talk about your journey back and forth; I’m really fascinated!

You know, Galina?! When I started listening to your short narration about the beauty of ‘Russian Nature’, you made me feel as if I was sitting next to you and enjoying personally all those interesting stuff you touched: the Autumn Season, Bright Sunny Day, Trees covered with Morning Dew, Colours of the Leaves, etc. My friend, I’ve only one thing to say…; this is a unique experience! Even though I’m thousands of kilometers away from where you are but yet you made me visualize that stunning scenery spread all long your way simply by capturing them in your “eye camera” and transmitting it over to me in text form!

And all I have to do here is just close my eyes and recall your text to my mind! What a surprise… my brain could see exactly what you saw. Where did you learn this Art of Mesmerizing people..! Any tips?!

About your question, “How’s the weather and nature are like in my Country?” I’m sorry! I’m afraid I can’t continue further because, I wonder whether you know this or not, we’re only limited to 2,000 (or is it 5,000) words per comment here. (What a lame excuse just to cover up my laziness. Hope she buys it!) But I promise that I'll tell you my share of the story one of these days. I Hope, though for sure I can’t do the job better than you’ve done, at least could do it to an acceptable extend where you could find it at least a little comprehensible! (I'm the worst story teller in the world and I have my name printed in the "Guinness World Record 2011" book :-p )

Well, teacher Galina! It's time to say "Goodbye" one more time! Wish you a pleasant week ahead and take care, My Dear!

    With Warm Regards
    ~ GS ~

PS: I'm sorry if I would have kept you waiting for too long for this simple reply of mine!

  • Hi Galina how are u i am so poor in english pls guide me

  • Hi there!

Today, 5th October, 2011 the whole world takes the opportunity to pay tribute to teachers!

Teachers are very noble as they’re the ones who mould the minds of the human race!

One not necessary to be a student to convey this special day wishes to any teachers!

Thus, it’s my Greatest Pleasure to wish,
    My Dear Prostomolotova Galina,
who is one such Selfless, Dedicated and Noble teacher,

You're A Teacher for All Seasons

    A teacher is like Spring,
    Who nurtures new green sprouts,
    Encourages and leads them,
    Whenever they have doubts.

    A teacher is like Summer,
    Whose sunny temperament
    Makes studying a pleasure,
    Preventing discontent.

    A teacher is like Fall,
    With methods crisp and clear,
    Lessons of bright colors
    And a happy atmosphere.

    A teacher is like Winter,
    While it’s snowing hard outside,
    Keeping students comfortable,
As a warm and helpful guide.

    Galina,
I’ve no doubt you do all these things,
    With A pleasant Attitude;
You’re a teacher for all seasons,
    Wish you..
    Happy Teacher’s Day
    Yet, again!

  • Hi Galina!

I owe you a great debt of gratitude! I could never repay you, for sure! I’m more than glad you showed me the list of “items” that your students would give to my “King”! Wow! Definitely you have “a class full of brilliant students”! They are in such an “Excellent” state today if not for their dedicated teacher, Ms Postomolotova Galina! I’m proud of you, my dear teacher! To keep up the “Good Work”!

Almost all their gifts reflect the inconsistency of “Happiness” and “Sadness” in our daily life. If you were to ask me to go for only ONE pick, I’ll choose the “Ying and Yang Medallion”. You know something?! Before you asked me about this (Yin and Yang) I  knew nothing about it but now after going through some study materials, I’ve found that “Ying Yangconceals a deep meaning within it, especially that there is always an opposite for everything

Galina, now agree wholeheartedly that “Ying and Yang Medallion” (refer the picture below) is the best present we can give to the “King”! Congratulations to the student who suggested this gift. Please tell him/her that I’ve been defeated in his/her hands! I’m not ashamed to say so but delighted to reverse my earlier “decision” (But, the problem is, how am going to explain this to the king that I’ve made a big blunder! Please help me, Galina :-(

The following are what I’ve learned about “Ying and Yang”. It’s very interesting! I can guarantee you’ll like it too! Happy reading…

     ‘Yin and Yang

    (Yin and Yang Medallion)

The ancient Chinese subscribe to a concept called Yin Yang which is a belief that there exist two complementary forces in the universe. One is “Yang” which represents everything POSITIVE and the other is “Yin” which is characterized as NEGATIVE. One is not better than the other. Instead they are both necessary and a balance of both is highly desirable.

This thinking is different from the duality of most religion where one state overcomes the other e.g. GOOD over EVIL. In the concept of Yin Yang, too much of either one is bad. The ideal is a balance of both. The hot Saharan desert for example is an example of extreme Yang while the bitter cold Antarctica is extreme Yin. Neither is desirable.

    Yin Yang

The "Yin Yang" meaning is embodied by the Tai Chi symbol. It is a circle made up of two different tadpole or fish like parts, one in Black (known as the "Yin" side) and the other in White (known as the "Yang" side). You will notice that in "Yang" (represented by the white tadpole) lies the seed of Yin (represented by the black dot) and vice-versa. In addition "Yin" and "Yang" are cyclical. In the symbol you can see that "Yang" grows but at its height, "Yin" emerge. Then "Yin" grows and at its height "Yang" appears and the cycle repeats itself. Actually another way to look at "Yin" and "Yang" is contraction and expansion! Some examples of "Yin" and "Yang" are stated below and I hope they’ll help you get a better grip on this concept or "Yin" "Yang" meaning.

    Here goes.

Yin is Soft while Yang is Hard
Yin is Stillness while Yang is Movement
The Moon is Yin while the SUN is Yang
Female is Yin while Man is Yang
Mountain is Yin while the River is Yang
Intuitive is Yin while Logical is Yang
Winter is Yin while Summer is Yang, and so on...

Do you see what I saw?! As I mentioned earlier, everything has it’s corresponding opposite! If not a “--Ying and Yang Medallion--” what else could remind the king about the uncertainty of “Happiness” and “Sadness” in our life! Great Present for the king, isn’t?! Thanks once again to the "Extremely Brilliant" student of yours! May God Bless him/her in abundance!

    Here’s a suggestion:
If possible copy the above and paste it on a “Microsoft Word” document; get it printed; make photocopies (duplicate) equivalent to the number of students in your class. It bet this will be very informative for them, what you think?! PS: The “Yin and Yang” info is not my own! Source: Internet

  • Ok Galina!

The 10 minutes time is over. The answer is COFFIN!

Could you see how the 3 lines of the riddle are related to a COFFIN?

If you’re not very clear about the idea. Just type “Answer?” and send it to me right away. I’ll give the answer immediately!

    Regards

    ~GS~

  • Hi Galina!

I’ll respond to your e-letter later! I need a little time!

However, since you said your students enjoyed solving the mystery gift, here’s a short one you can have fun with them! It’s a riddle and it goes like this:

He who sells it can’t buy it!

He who buys it can’t use it!

He who uses it can’t see it!

I think this riddle is good for encouraging students  to engage actively in a language based (English, perhaps) conversation -  one gives an answer and his reason; another argues that’s not the answer with his own interpretation, etc.

PS: I’ll send you the answer in 10 minutes time because I want you to check mine with yours. Ok?! Have fun! Bye Galina.

  •  Hi Galina!

The song “Hotel California” was aired over the radio this morning. The first thing that came to my mind was that you’ve listed this as one of your favourite songs on your profile list! Thus, I thought it’s nothing wrong to dedicate this to a “Dear Teacher”! Hope you like it. Happy Listening, Bye!

                    Hotel California - Eagels

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair,
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
    There she stood in the doorway;
    I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
'This could be Heaven or this could be Hell'
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

    Welcome to the Hotel California
    Such a lovely place
    Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year, you can find it here

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes bends
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the Captain,
    'Please bring me my wine'
He said, 'We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine'
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
    Just to hear them say...

    Welcome to the Hotel California
    Such a lovely place
    Such a lovely face
They livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise, bring your alibis

    Mirrors on the ceiling,
    The pink champagne on ice
And she said 'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device'
    And in the master's chambers,
    They gathered for the feast
The stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
    Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
    'Relax,' said the night man,
    We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
    but you can never leave!
    Eagles Hotel California

  • Hi there!

How’s my 'Pretty Teacher' getting on at the other end of the NET? Hope your “Guardian Angel” never fails to stand by you; shielding you from all unforeseen dark forces!

I’m sorry for not responding to your message much earlier; no reasons can justify the delay. If at all I was to give one, obviously it would be only a lame excuse and I don’t really want to stand with such guilty conscience in front of your eyes.

Galina, thank you for enlightening me about the “International Translation Day”! You explained such a meaningful event without missing any important facts; you kept it short and sweet, to put in a nutshell. To tell truth, I feel ashamed for not knowing anything about the day in prior. Since I’ve already learnt from you, perhaps next year we both could celebrate the day in a small scale. (Sorry, I can’t afford for a Grand Celebrationbouquet or wine!) What you think, my dear teacher?

Now, regarding your question, the number of Languages I could speak and write: I only know three languagesTamil (my mother tongue), Malay (our national language) and of course, English (the International language).

If I’m not mistaken, you are asking me this because of the various foreign phrases you noticed among my message the other day. Am I correct?! Sincerely speaking, I know nothing about those languages except Tamil, the last one in the list! I simply copied them from a website (after knowing their meaning in English) and pasted on your page. That’s the whole truth, nothing than the truth. I’m sorry if I would have disappointed you for some unknown reasons!

Ok! It seems a Great Week is going to end for all of us giving way to yet another Brand New Week. Thus, I’m sending you my 'Little Angle' with the message…

  • Hi Galina!

Can I ask you a favour? I’d like you to participate in this discussion, started by our fellow member Just Jessa. It’s a very interesting topic! She wants to know, “What are the three things that you would do when you knew that you’re going to die in 24 hours time?” Give a try, please! I’m simply curious to know what the three things are for you! In fact, I’ve laid out mine there! Don’t you wanna read them?!

To get to that page, simply click HERE
