The view on the top is very beautiful!
Kaliningrad region is the USA in miniature. :-))) After the WW II a lot of people from all over the country came to Konigsberg. There are Russians, Byelorussians, Lithuanians, Ukrainians, Germans, Kazakhs, Armenians, Azerbaijanians, Chechens, etc.
As for me, I am a real international mixture. :-))) As most of the people in the World! All people are brothers and sisters! "We are of the same blood!" (R. Kipling, “The Jungle Books”).
Have a nice time!
Here is a photo of Kaliningrad:
Just wanted to confess. That I just checked from google where is Kaliningrad. Shame to me! lol. I knew it's somewhere nearby, since I have heard this name a lot, but... Well this shows that not only American school kids are bad of geography. Some adults from Europe are stupid too.
No wonder my 6 years old nephew refered to me as a boy with furry head.. or should it be translated his words as furry headed boy.. well I was actually delighted being called a boy rather than uncle, or old man. :D As boy I still have a hope. ;)
Anyway.. now I know why you looked somehow familiar on picture, Rosenmaiden. You don't look like typical Russian. :)
I think People in Baltic area have very much mixed genes.. from Germans, Russian, Sweden.. and maybe some more. There have been so many wars and rulers..
Thank you for your message! It's interesting for me! You are right - my town looks like German one! Because it is former German territory! Kaliningrad region and the part of Poland are Eastern Prussia (Germany). The U.S.S.R. annexed these territories after The WW II.
Kaliningrad region is surrounded by foreingn countries (Poland, Lithuania, Byelorussia) and the Baltic Sea. It is easier for residents of our region to go to Europe, than - to Russia.
The former name of Kaliningrad is Konigsberg.
In Russia there is a tradition - to give eggs as a preasent on Easter, so it was interesting to me to learn, what the egg on your page meant.
I'd like to send to you photos of Easter eggs by Faberger.
Here is the emblem of my towm (before the WW II).
