Round 30. It is a noun

My dear friends! As I happened to win the previous round,  I will start another and I hope you don't mind Tanya's repyling for me if I am busy at work.

So, my word is a noun.

1. It somehow relates to medicine. It is the first clue.

2. It is not any disease.

3. It is not medication we may take.

4. It is not the way of treatment.

5. It starts with a consonant.

6. It relates to psychology.

7. It doesn't start with 't".

8.  It relates to the social aspect of our life, to communication.

9. People suffering from this phobia are afraid to listen to something.

10. People suffering from this phobia don't have strong convictions.

Dear ELF! Sermon is a talk about religious or moral subjects, mostly during church services, but not only. In fact, it is moralyzing, lecturing someone in order to change his point of view, his behavior. For example, our parents lecture us all the time trying to change us. So, homilophobic people don't want to listen to that as they are afraid to change their moral values because they don't have strong convictions.

  • Nope, I really don't know that this word is related to religion.. :)

Actually my six sense pinch me many time that may be this word is teacher Danny's word... but I ignored it... I don't know why... and I also didn't know sermons meaning too.. that why I just ignore that word..

Dear ELF! If I had known, my word relates to religion, at least partially, I wouldn't have asked it. But why have you thought I couldn't ask such a question? Most of EC members know that we both are non-religious. We have no phobia in this connection and are not going to reassure others, but we try to avoid this subject.

Danny I also found this term in the list of phobia starting with 'h' but being found not fitting in your clues I didn't quote, then I was deciding to put forward it, then Lady Noor, SHE SAW, SHE CAME, SHE CONQUERED. (like previous winner Hayah!).   CONGRATULATIONS M'Lady.

My friends! I am not a shrink! I hadn't known this word before I heard it in one movie. The scene was the following. A few people started discussing some serious problems. In fact, they wanted to reassure each other as their poins of view were different. Suddenly, one of them started panicing. He felt really bad and had to leave. Than the others said he was homilophobic. I decoded to look up this word in the explanatory dictionary and it says, it is fear of communication. And I trusted it taking into accont the scene I had seen. But when no one had been able give the correct answer or even to ask the correct question during a few days, I decided to make a search. First, I found the meaning our dear Lady Noor has proposed, i.e., fear of sermons.  It sounded  strange for me as I remember that scene. The people were talking about the universe, its origion. Sure, some of them mentioned God as a creator, but they all were scientists. So, being dissatisfied, I started googling again and, as a result, I found out that homilophobia is fear of being reassured. Some people don't want to listen to others because they are afraid they may change their points of view. That is why I gave you a clue about people without strong convictions. It is a very rare phobia.

My friends! I am sincerely sorry that we can't trust even well-known dictionaries. On the other hand, we can't trust 100% the information we find in the net. I have faced such a problem a few times.

I hope you will forgive my spoiling this round. I will never repeat such a mistake again! But now, we know almost all phobia and it is great!

Thank you all for your patience and interest. You all are so smart! I am proud to know you!
