    Spamming

My english  club is a wonderful get away from it all.We do not rush to the classroom  but to a social  and enjoyable atmosphere

Naturally a site big  as ours, with an enormous number of membership coming in daily , is prone to the eyes of vices.

People who are not interested in the language learning , try to wriggle their way in to the club and contact  innocent members.

Beware . When we members inform the admistration they try  their best to keep it inorder  by deletion .

Thanks to  the-members and staff these elements are detected and thrown out , yet  they never give up  and persist using differnt new addresses,

To help  the admistration in keeping MyEC the social  and educational link, members beware of

    Typical spammers and scammers:

    • leave notes on walls, groups and inboxes with links to external sites that are unrelated to English learning
    • leave many identical notes in a short period of time
    • often include and/or request an email address
    • invite members to contact them off site
    • make generous offers such as a chance to work in an English-speaking country

Their usual objective is to make money from unsuspecting members. Please watch out for these scams and report them immediately to the Administration!

For example I am posting one spam note from an individual/s  continously in period of time.

no matter how many times they are deleted by the administration , through members observation, they bounce back !

    Chatting at the moderated room.

Chatters make the bee line  to the room  to relax , enjoy , have  fun and also discuss many topics of interest.....

Of course in any community or group of people they have to interact and see eye to eye...

Many are very happy to relax, and have casual talk which is nice.Imagine non stop of serious topics, it will be so boring. yet one should also  remember why we are here. In that  space of time when we are together online, regular topic of interests  must be discussed which gives a solid feed back . While doing  this  the silent observer of the chat room  should never  disturb  the active members  right then. Rather  read and then come in quietly with a formal hi and a brief view of the topic concerned. This leads in shredding out our shyness, gaining confidence getting introduced to new friends. Above all in an English platform practicing and developing English with fun.  The main reason to why we all are here ,an International community joining hands through all barriers at My EC

Though casual , friendly and with no specfic  topic, people develop their vocabulary build up their  confidence.Freinds are indentified  on room people relax with those whom they feel comfortable with  , entwine themselves  and develops topics of interest. It is more intersting when many join ,giving in to the others  respecting their space sying oops when the other says your butting in to my space! As to what one member said angrily to me, the other day when I sad hi to the room.

I know many observers feel it is not worth joining in at the mains, do give it a try say the first hello on and off and you  will find a group of people of people you are comfortable with, and believe me there is no looking back, when you get good friends to communicate meaningfully.

I know very well how it feels in  interrupting, as it  does lose focus on topic, so it would be better if we read what is on the mains  and also make it a point to be polite and say excuse me may I ....

Some times  there  are many chatters having their dialog, immune to the numbers at the Mains, though It may look like a circus, it does go amicably well, using the mains as the platform.

    View Image

Over the period of the history of the room, people come and go new comers joining in fresh as ever, it is up to the older hands  to help them out if they go wee bit away from the rules. Tell them on private before taking any harsh decision on reporting :like as a big  loving family we  have to be patient and enduring .. too.

At our moderated chat room it is  a fun place to practise  English without exactly learning English as in the classroom. We should always  keep in mind to respect  the silent observer and the active chatters, by keeping only to English.

Why? as the other day one new comer asked me, why they could not talk in their language! Fair enough I told him our club is an English site.Of course after which, he adhered to the rules.

Surely it is rude to blabber in detail on the mains in another language, again you may ask me  why ?The reason so we must  always keep in mind  up the standard of our club and  the reason why it was created by Mr Josef  and all the  efforts of  the people who work behind round the clock in keeping it of international repute.

Easy as this members are here  to relax, and quench thier thirst in Englsih ....they do not need a dosage of another  language ,which could be accessed in their respective links.

Since of late I noticed petty arguments  leading to misunderstanding  people impersonating to get back at each other .

Surely we are here to relax and be happy . Okay there is  no serious topics all the time  but bondage of love and freindship should always be kept in mind and respect to each others privacy and space.

A new comer  makes an error the rest should  also know to resolve amicably. There is a saying first impression lasts, it is something like that the firstmeeting if one is able to get along with civility and freindship and understanding, there will be not much of clashes, and will prevent old and new members leaving  due to this.

The silent observer observing the clashes with no forgiveness at the end , too gets fed up of coming to the chat link, thus depriving others pleasure in using their precious leisure time at the moderated chat room of My EC.

Woah! I think I have written enough for today , the next topic will be about the rights of being verbally  abused

Any feed back will be much appreciated:)

    Magic of emotions

If not for emotions life will be dull indeed.

When we are sad we pour our heart out, angry yell , when one is jealous  being sarcastic , trying  to hurt people does it work  in the long run no, Battered feelings of remorse and prejudice is the result.

Beauty of emotion is  we hate  some one it does not  last .

We love  some one we get  hurt...and be loved  where least expected,

We may try to show reasonoings in good interest and  get misunderstood

Life  oh life ! it so uncertain , one can only trust only ones self is my conclusion

so when any one tries to make me feel sad  or hurt , I will not give in , life is much more valuable and precious  than to  get scarred by pathetic  souls !

English will never be the same

I got this  through  email so it is not  mine  The  credit  goes to the original author A sri Lankan born  writer in Hong Kong -Nuri Vittachi.

THE CURIOUS DIARY OF MR JAM

English will never be the same

    ENGLISH FUNNY
Momentous change occurs in world language

A SAD DEATH has occurred. It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of “th”, formerly a popular and well-loved sound. It formed two-thirds of the word “the”, one of the world’s most frequently spoken words. At the time of death, “th” was more than 800 years old.
Born in Germany as part of the Anglo-Saxon language, it became globally popular after it crossed into English, which then became the world language. People in almost every country in the world regularly used it in words such as “thump” and “thickie” and “threesome” (France only).
    TH grace
Its demise was caused by the fact that there were always hold-out groups who spoke English without this sound.
Londoners used “f” instead, saying, “Fank you very much.”
Singaporeans and Irish used “t” instead, saying “Tanks for tinking of me.”
Residents of Jamaica used “d” as in: “Dis de las’ time I say dis, mon.”
Europeans used “z” in its place, as in: “Zat ees ze beegust one ah ever saw.”
Now linguists say the number of speakers of “th”-free English has overtaken the number of original English speakers.
With “th” is no longer standard, it is likely to spiral into oblivion, reports the Independent newspaper of London.
The world’s top expert on English, Professor David Crystal, says “th” could disappear entirely from ALL forms of English within two generations.
    *
This news caused consternation in my circles. Many members call ourselves interleckchuals, and some can even spell it.
We attempted to have a conversation without the “th” sound.
“I don’t tink it will be a problem. Dis is not dat difficult to follow, is it?” said the woman sitting opposite me. (It helped that she once lived in Singapore.)
I said: “De problem is dat after talking like dis for a while, you feel like a gangster from 1940s Hollywood, your troat begins to trob, and you get da urge to wear a trilby and carry a violin case.”
    *
We reckoned that the phrase that will suffer the most was: “This, that and the other,” which will become: “Dis, dat and de udder.”
    *
The unluckiest word is “thirteenth” which will become “turteent.” The words “thither” and “thenceforth” will become unpronounceable, but no one will miss them.
    *
Four sentences to avoid when the “th” sound disappears.
    1) “I cut the pie into three and gave him a third” will sound like:
“I cut the pie into tree and gave him a turd.”
    2) “I will take a blood sample by stabbing your thumb” will sound like:
“I will take a blood sample by stabbing your tum.”
    3) “He was arrested for stroking her thigh,” will sound like:
“He was arrested for stroking her tie.”
    4) “I loathe Pokemon” will sound like
    “I load Pokemon.”
    *
Scriptwriters trying to write in English with no “th” sounds will have a challenge.
To set you up for the new era, try translating the following speech into normal English.
    *
Oh bovver. Dare was no time for furder diderring, so I introduced my swarty etnic girlfriend Bet Wortington to my farter Artur, my mudder Header and my bruvver Eaten.
My farter, an orter, said Bet looked healty and wealty. Bet smiled, showing us her teat.

    Love Defined- Matt Dubois-

    Love Defined

What is love, but an emotion,
    So strong and so pure,
That nurtured and shared with another
    All tests it will endure?

What is love, but a force
    To bring the mighty low,
With the strength to shame the mountains
    And halt time’s ceaseless flow?

What is love, but a triumph,
    A glorious goal attained,
The union of two souls, two hearts
A bond the angels have ordained?

What is love, but a champion,
To cast the tyrant from his throne,
And raise the flag of truth and peace,
    And fear of death o’erthrow?

What is love, but a beacon,
    To guide the wayward heart,
A blazing light upon the shoals
    That dash cherished dreams apart?

And what is love, but forever,
    Eternal and sincere,
A flame that through wax and wane
    Will outlive life’s brief years?

So I’ll tell it on the mountaintops,
In all places high and low,
That love for you is my reason to be,
And will never break or bow.

Missing you at the wall wisher

    http://www.wallwisher.com/wall/myECmissesyou

Recent blogs highlighted pain and confusion of dear freinds leaving the club, with no goodbyes. With reference to @ nebia http://my.englishclub.com/profiles/blogs/goodbye-my-friends#comments</@Mommy http://my.englishclub.com/profiles/blogs/where-is-my-soul-mate-karenina@ Nadiyah http://my.englishclub.com/profiles/blogs/my-diary-1-a-letter-for-salim#comments@yours truly http://my.englishclub.com/profiles/blogs/precious-my-ec-friendsTara has now initiated the wall washer for all members to share their thoughts of some one special who is missed very much. this is the link to those who are not aware of ithttp://www.wallwisher.com/wall/myECmissesyou. It takes out some sadness when one can voice out one's thoughts and feelings about missed friends.

The shock, confusion of their sudden departures are as acute as any other friendship.

We get used to a routine of checking each others pages for latest snippets, to greet each other, place our trace on ones blogs and discussions in the many groups of varied interests thus bringing in and bonding lasting friendship. One is able to learn and gain vast information through these many ways transaction English Club provides us with.

We all need a break time to time , and as most of us active members are getting addicted to our second family My EC , we tend to throw it all away by pressing the delete button, through stress and other obligations. Please do not do that, , take it easy and give your self a break as long as you wish( I doubt you would stay for long as you will find me giving you timely reminders as how you are keeping ! lol)The page we develop at the club reflects our thoughts , personality and originality, much loved by all our friends who visit them time to time. It is some what unfair and painful when it all gets erased and puffed out in one go.

Seven secrets in learning English1)Listening This skill is very important to enhance ones fluency in speech, and pronunciation .Listen and re write in your own words.2) ReadingThrough listening we start to read. Read as much as you can,and in variation be it through the news papers from a simple advertisement to stories local international or sport news. Each story has their own individuality ,style of presentation and outlook. New words and phrases are learnt subsequently.Reading fiction and non fiction books helps us a long way.It develops our mind ,senses and imagination taking us to a world of literacy and fantasy. We are able to develop our writing and vocabulary too.3) WritingStart small maybe comments from discussions to blogs, personal pages of members, to chat dialogue on the mains.Move on to writing articles and blogs., refer anything you wish from grammar to slang to the English Club feed on the main page.To improve your writing , vocabulary and grammar copy write in your free time.4)TalkingObserving the three rules , practice it with speech.Talk talk talk .you may stumble, nobody will laugh. English is a second language, not the mother tongue. Do not get frightened. You can exchange your Skype or messenger id at the chat room or at the Groups Find a learning partner/ Lets speak English/ Skype, naming a few.Get Actively involved on the mains ,discuss from word games, quizzes, topics.5)PronounciationGive ear much as possible to fluent and native speakers. Through the influence of our mother tongue, we can pronounce different. How could this be done? Listen and watch good International news service. Instance BBC/ CNN and also not forgetting your local English news. Documentary pro grammes, family dramas and classic story serials are too welcome to enhance your listening skills.Read out loud for you to hear , while practicing your speech and pronunciation. When reading out a speech, or any other readings, . Sharing My Story#1 : Me and My EC

It was one cold day in December2009, I was scouting for study material online, as I needed more minimal pairs, tongue twisters for my speech classes.I got what I was looking for and browsing further I came across the application to this site.I was not used much to any thing online then, rather to the virtual My Kids International UK English course I conducted as a franchisee.ECwas directly online ,exciting and different, day one onwards ,there was no looking back.

I enjoyed reading discussions from groups. My favorite then were the groups, Discover yourself. Believe in yourself.Whilst exploring the site as newbie I got into the chat room, and was awed, this was my first time (loooool.) I too became a regular at the mains and enjoyed it very much. It was fun reading and chatting with learners and fluent speakers, all around the world. Muge (mommy) was one o f the members I got to know then, and through exchange of id's we became thick friends chatting regularly in the morning, over a cup of coffee, on the net.My goal was to improve my self as a teacher, by getting new study materials, as to make my class interesting to the youngsters at my school.I am a native speaker,am more fluent in English than in my own mother tongue.as am speaking it,as from a babe, yet, there is no end to learning, and I am still learning this wonderful language. When Tara started the group Welcoming newbies, I too joined enthusiastically and am still welcoming and hope they will too do the same to others , as it is a lovely feeling of being welcomed, I was welcomed by Mr Josef as newbie and I remember a thank you note from Joyce Viera in joining her group English Teachers. The result in joining the club, I have the chance to interact with members all over the world, thus bringing us closer through the touch of a button, and we are useful to each other and also happy to get away briefly to virtual.A memorable event to me was meeting EC member Ohnie , in my country , it was fantastic the first meeting at her hotel , two hours drive from my place. She was flying back home that night for ref:http://my.englishclub.com/profile/OhnieThomas

She hosted us to a scrumptious buffet, and this picture was taken at the pool under the moonlight amidst the gentle sounds of the waves near by.Coming to the finale of my little tale, I owe Tara Benwell for guiding and being our mentor thus enhancing us to develop our talents goals and to reach out to others too.My dearest soul mate Karenina for encouraging me to come out of my shell and to be active . I owe her a big thank you.To My closest friend Muge for the everlasting friendship we have bonded through My English Club. The decision of joining this club, has brought a vast change in to my life, hope fully it would be so to the end..
