Did you know in my country, Sri Lanka

The water supplies , originates from mountains gushing its way to rivers and streams. During the rain seasons with the abundance of water supply , the water are stored in reservoirs like for example, the Mahaweli reservoirThis scheme reaches out to far villages during the dry seasons to irrigate the lands and for drinking purposes, through dams. Yet there-is the problem of unclean water, and in dry zone in faraway villages people still do carry water for their daily consumption. To combat this and to make it easier to the poor villager the Governments, have installed water pumps in public areas

For healthier water supply the UNICEF have initiated water supply scheme for the southern region of my countrytp://www.unicef.org/infobycountry/sri_lanka_45501.htmlWe have water borne diseases when water is consumed, in an unhealthy manner.Overall we are blessed with pure good water, yet there are region, where water is hard, pertaining to the effects of the respective soil in the region.

In the dry zones where there is less water , in far away hamlets or villages, there are pipes, inaccessible points where people walk or go on bikes and bring water. You could see the picture whee two girls pumping water,I the remote areas where there is no pipeline people if they can afford , install the tube wells, if they do not have wells .

  • Excellent post! I am learning so much from this series and I am very thankful each morning for the clean (yet hard) water that comes out of my Canadian taps. Thank you so much for taking the time to research and write this post. Could you add your country at the top of the post so that readers know which country you are discussing. (I'm trying to remind all of the writers of this.) Thanks again!
