I fell in love with photography

I fell in love with photography some months ago and as a devoted amateur, who knows nothing but wants everything, I decided to purchase a digital SLR camera to make my dream come true. It took me a lot of effort and energy to persuade my husband, that it is the best investment ever... but eventually believe it or not - I succeeded!

I bought my new love Nikon and started studying about photography. Yes, guys it wasn't as easy as I expected and I had to even understand physics – to be specific optics (something I always hated) to get to know, how it all works. Anyway, I won't bother you with some boring facts about theory and taking the pictures, I want to talk about me, amateur photographer.

The very next day after buying my camera (I remember it was Saturday and I had to cook lunch) I immediately escaped in the morning from my apartment to practise, what I have learned. Honestly, just remembering it, I have to laugh, how excited I was about it all. Of course, the reality slapped me hard! Naive me, thought that after reading some pages, I would become professional photographer with awesome pictures everybody would admire! After one hour of torturing me and the camera, I gave it up and went back home with little bit weird feeling, if it was worth buying it. However, I decided to fight and to study more and more, to look up some information on the internet, to read advice from experienced people and to take the pictures in every occasion it was possible because as we know – practise makes perfect, right? I learned, how to make a good composition of the picture, which is one of the most important things, I would say. I have seen many pictures and I think many people have no idea that for example, if the object of the photographer is a person – their knees shouldn't be cut, or if they want to take a picture of the building, it will look really weird without the roof etc. There are some mistakes people repeatedly make and it is just a question of one minute, to stop yourself, think and see, what you want to capture. In fact, photography is a lot about thinking. I was always little bit strict, when it comes to something like this but I won't ever forget a picture of my husband in Greece with the palm growing out of his head! I still don't believe I took such picture, I had to be out of my mind!

Let me add that I love taking the pictures – portraits of my kids because it is pretty challenging. Kids are still in the move and moody, so of course. if I ask them to stand and look at me, they consider me freak. Eventually, I am just jumping like idiot, calling their names or cartoon characters to look at me, making them laugh, so that I would be able to get some good picture. People, who watch me must think I should be locked in the madhouse. I also love to take the pictures of the nature because it is very creative and relaxing to me.

We all have some memories but thanks to photography and the pictures somebody took in the past, we can better recall many things and can enjoy great fun with our closest ones. I do believe it is worth it. So guys, take the pictures because we live only once and it is nice to watch some episodes of our life in the pictures.

P.S. Here are some of the pictures I took, you can critisize them in the comments bellow :-)

Do you like traveling? What about visiting Austria and partly Germany with me? If you want to read something interesting, check my pictures, then you are in the right place at the right time! Soooo… let's get started !!! My this blog will be mostly about Austria, I visited this June. It is a beautiful country with an awesome landscape and even though there is no sea, the combination of the mountains (the Alps) and the lakes is without doubt something what will make you speechless because such breathtaking sceneries you can see there, will stay saved on your mind forever.

I was happy that in Austria people can speak English, otherwise I would be little bit lost like I was in Hungary last year with my poor German :-) The owner of our hotel was funny and it took me just little bit of time to get used to his accent but in some days, we discussed the trips and he also came up with some special tips, so I can say that the communication was awesome. He also cooked for us and since we were almost the only one guests there, we enjoyed it a lot becuse he even prepared special dishes for our kids, which really impressed me. However, I won't talk about gastro tourism here but about what we visited there.

We stayed close to the resort Zell am See, which is a beautiful town (destination) with the lake, historical center and of course surrounded by the mountains. It is also very popular in the winter, so if you want to enjoy skiing in the Alps, Zell am See is one of the best options. Anyway, let's talk about summer. I have to admit that I loved walking around the lake and taking the pictrures because it was simply relaxing and enjoyable, so here you can check some of them.

To be in the Alps and not to see the highest Austrian mountain would be a big shame, don't you think so? That is why we decided to beat Grossglockner (3.798 m. above the sea) ….ehm of course not on foot :-D Luckily there is a road called Grossglocknerstrasse (Grossglockner street) which is like 50km long and I have to admit it is really for experienced drivers because the conditions - especially terrain, so many curves etc. - to sume it up .. it is not easy at all to get there. In one hour we reached the parking area and found ourself in totally different climate conditions. Down there was hot weather I think around 30 degrees .. but when we left the car, it was 11 degrees :-D We knew it, so we brought some warm clothes but shivering people walking in the sandals or shorts made me little bit laugh. We took a walk around and enjoyed the atmosphere of such big mountains we were surrounded by. Actually, I have never been in my life so high and I would be able to spend there the whole day and just to stare at the mountains and think about nothing .. exactly like men usually do!

Anohter interesting trip was trip to Germany, where we visited Eagle's Nest. Everything there, including the road, tunnels, special lift in the mountain and building itself was built during the World War II. as a gift for Hitler's 50th birthday. I find kind of interesting paradox the fact that Hitler visited this place only few times because he suffered from the fear of the heights. Nowadays there is a restaurant up there and awesome view. Of course, I didn't visit this place because I would admire Hitler but because I like history and you could also read many interesting facts there written on the special desks. Here you could come across the tourists from all around the world and what surprised me was that the bikers left their bikes with the shoes helmets, bags at the parking area and nobody stole anything – that is what I really love about Austria. No thieves. Honestly speaking – in my country impossible and I am really ashamed of it.

What about Golden Gate in the Alps? Do you know that it really exists? Not only San Francisco can be proud of it but also one valley where people decided to build up very interesting activity park with many attractions for the kids and the adults. See ...I m not telling you lies :-)

When we had enough of the mountains, we decided to visit Königsee in Germany. It is one of the top ten beautiful lakes in the Alps with very clean water. Honestly, I felt like I am in some tropical island when I was taking the pictures. We enjoyed this trip a lot, especially when the boat suddenly stopped in the middle of the lake surrounded by the mountains and a guy with trumpet started playing it, to show us what awesome echo they had there. It was really unforgottable experience and everybody was just silently listening to it (even my kids) :D

We made also many other trips but I don't want to make you bored with something longer. I think it is enough about my Austria-Germany holiday and next time… hohohooooo… I am here with a blog about ITALYYYY!!! Ciao :-)

For some people boring, rainy Thursday but for Luci, it wasn't an ordinary day, in fact … it was her last day. Two months ago she celebrated her 81st birthday lonely among the people she didn't know at all. Yes, new environment gave her unbearable stress. Why? The Psychiatric clinic she found herself in four months ago, wasn't simply a place she imagined spending her last days or months of life. Why did they do it? Who was responsible for it? She was hopeless, empty and confused.

In some months Luci started considering herself robot. Every day was routine and the same. It drived her more insane than she in fact was. One late afternoon somebody knocked on her door. She felt insecure but said: "Come in." She couldn't walk, so she better stayed in her bed. Suddenly so many people entered her small, dark room. Luci was astonished and surprised, however didn't have a clue what was going on. In one or two minutes she started recognizing the people – her visitors and their faces. Oh myyyyyyyy!!! Luci didn't believe her eyes. In front of her were many old friends she has stopped being in touch with for several years. She was in the center of the attention and she liked it a lot. They all were talking and talking, somebody brought a chocolate cake, so they ate it all together and enjoyed gossiping about those, who didn't appear or have already passed away. Finally Luci was again living and was extremely happy. So extrremely happy that in one hour her golden heart couldn't stand it and she died of heart attack.

No matter how good or bad Luci's life was but the point is that she died happy and that is what counts. We will always remember her as a kind, helpfull and crazy woman, who lived her life as she wanted, not as others wanted her to do.

Don't let your hope die

No matter how desperately down you are, no matter how grey is your each and every day, no matter how many sleepless and stressful nights you went through or how much you regret....just… don't let your hope die. Once you burry your hope, you burry your soul and alive body with dead soul is in fact - dead YOU.

At times it might be hard to keep your hope up and of course it is easier to give up on everything, to immerse yourself somewhere down into the bottom of all the worst experiences, to lock yourself there and pretend you have no idea where the key is. To pity yourself is on your daily routine, to feel weak without energy is something you got used to, anxiety is your worst nightmare and to wish you were gone is your best idea ever.

You ask so many questions and try to find the answers but eventually it is just all useless because to change the past is impossible. It all has already happened and your mind won't ever delete it. You feel so empty that every word you are supposed to say is like a big stone that got stuck in your throat and makes you unable to pronounce anything.

However, if you believe in something, if you see at least little star in this darkness, it means you still have energy to face all those bad things, which surround you. One little kick from somebody around might be enough to show you that you are not alone and that there are people, who want you to move on and whose support give you strong energy. Suddenly you see that your hope is still alive. Hope, which is whispeing into your ear that one day you will wake up, your life will be again nice, peaceful and you will catch yourself smiling for no reason… yeah it will feel so good!

Writing Challenge: Mothers

To become a mom is the best feeling ever. Nine months of suffering were worth it! The morning sickness, pain in the womb, dizzy feeling, mood swing, peeing at night at least twice, heartburn, feeling like big elephant, whose movement is at the end of the pregnancy kind of weird etc. are the things that can hardly make me say:

"Ohhhhhh yeahhh, I enjoyed my pregnancy!" Sincerely, my dear friends, I didn't apart from feeling moves of my baby, which gave me energy.

However,  after process of torturing I have described above, this little cute "thing" you have felt inside your womb kicking, suddenly starts kicking outside. Well, not only kicking! It is crying out loud and draw your attention beause it is time to welcome him/her to this world. You know, when they show you your baby it is undescribable and unforgottable strong emotional experience, which will stay saved in your memory forever. Actually, your body feels like exploding from the mixture of all these emotions. No doubt you catch yourself crying at this moment, you are touched, happy, feel big responsibility for this little innocent gift you hold in your arms and last but not least you immediately fall in love with your cute newbie.

Your life will turn upside down, you will be exhausted, will lack sleep, will be hopeless at some situations but one glance at your sleeping little treassure and... you feel again like in heaven. To watch your  sleeping baby is the best therapy. It gives you energy, inner peace, it makes you feel reborn and the love which you send from your heart towards your baby flood without doubt the whole room. No matter, if they are babies or older kids, I bet every mom loves watching them sleeping because it is relaxing and awesome feeling to stop and think about how they grew up, what progress they made and how great it is to be mom!

You as a mom should be here for your kids anytime because you have a special place in their heart and only you can understand with special care and love their needs. To teach them the first words, to hear them calling you for the first time MOM, to watch them making the first steps, to support them, to hold their hands when they are sick, to make them calm when they cry, to answer their question .. AND WHYY more than 100 times, to feel scared when they are insecure, to be simply a part of their life because the bond between mom and their kids is so unique and so fragile.

In the end I would like to mention that I fully agree with this touchy video, which became viral and I guess you all saw it but let me post it here:

To be a mom is the hardest job but your kids, who love you and see you as their role model are the best proof of doing your work well!

I would like to dedicate this blog to one special tradition, which is Czech Easter. You know, Easter is here related also to spring, it is actually the celebration of the spring and that is why we keep some traditions you might find very awkward or funny.

Let me start with the preparations. The girls must be ready, which means they need to colour and decorate the eggs for those, who will come around. Actually, it is not only about the eggs, they should be also ready with some sweets and for adults with "few drops" of hard liquer. We also bake Easter Lamb or Mazanec. To bake Easter Lamb might be not that easy because you must have special form for it and once it is baken you should literally pray, so that the result would satisfy you because after removing it carefully out of the form your Easter Lamb might turn to Headless Lamb!

We celebrate Easter on Easter Monday, this day is holiday here. Believe me that the morning is cruel for the girls/women. After waking up our beloved ones such as our sons, husbands pour the cold water on us. Those who are tough even take their "victims" into the bathroom to give them cold "awesome" shower. The boys/men have special decorated sticks made of little brenches called karabáč (karaba:ch) and they beat the legs and the butts of the girls/women with it.

Afterwards they use little bit of parfume and spray it on the girl's/women's neck. By the way when I was a little girl and since I am tall, one of my classmates almost hit my eyes with parfume! Anyway, back to the process of torturing. When the boys are done with it all very very fair part is about to come. Guess what? We (the girls and the women) have to give them something for it!!! So we give them coloured eggs, sweets we prepared and some glass of alcohol for adults. Then the boys/men can set for their Easter journey. They walk outside and visit relatives such as aunts, grannies, cousins or classmates, friends to apply this what I have described above on them. When you look from the window, you just can see the groups of the boys with the plastic bags full of the eggs and sweets, holding their karabáč and walking around! I have to admit that this tradition is more alive in the villages, where people also wear special costumes and its atmosphere is much more better. So let me post one cute video (don't want to post worse ones to scare you), so that you would be able to picturize it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZpbzmitXXU

By the way, I forgot to mention the most important thing! What is the purpose of this tradition? Well, according to it, we - the girls/women need it all because it makes us stay fresh and young till the next Easter!

So I should be thankful to all my realatives and friends, who actually meant it in a good way and wanted me to stay forever young! :-D

Seeker's Writing Challenge

Jack felt hopeless and lost. How can be his own dad so cruel? Why is he so selfish? Jack was very disappointed. He wanted to sleep but when he closed his eyes, he saw a face of his angry dad and couldn't have got rid of it.  His dad was his role model, somebody he respected a lot and he always looked up to him. How come his hero was suddenly against him?!

He realized he lacked freedom in his own room, felt imprisoned, couldn't breathe freely. Suddenly an idea to go outside for a walk popped up in his mind. In few minutes he got dressed and found himself on the street in front of his house. It was late, cold night and Jack felt much more better after taking the first deep breath. However, street he has known for his whole life was now so different. Nobody was around. Everything was so quiet. He decided to relax, wanted to enjoy his walk and every breath he took, made him more and more calm.

When he was near the bridge, he met a beggar. Beggar started asking him for money. Jack gave him money but under one condition. Since he felt lonely, he asked beggar to share his life story. Actually, Jack was thinking what has happened. Why this dirty and stinky man is here now under the bridge without family, friends, alone in the middle of the night?

Man agreed and started his touchy story: "You know, young boy, I used to be a succesful musician but my own pride, alcohol and everything what famous people are sourrounded by, ruined my life. My own personality got changed a lot. Fame makes people blind, remember it! Of course, now I do regret and since I have no proper education and nobody from show business give a damn about me, I am stuck here under this bridge. This bridge is my home and everything I have is in this plastic bag."

Jack gave him some extra money and left. This story made him speechless. Jack started thinking about his own life on his way back home. So many things were on his mind. Suddenly, he didn't see his dad as an enemy but as somebody, who wants the best for him and his future. However, people should compromise. In the morning Jack woke up, went to the kitchen and saw his desperate dad there.

"Dad, I would like to talk to you. You know, I changed my mind little bit." said Jack.

Dad didn't believe his ears and asked: "Jack, what do you mean?"

Jack asnwered: "Dad, you know I think that to have good education is something important. I won't give up on my dream to become a painter but as for my future, I can't ever be sure, if I succeed or not and that is why I want to have something I can rely on - my education. I won't study engineering because honestly I lack brain cells for something like this. I decided to choose law or medicine. I think in this case you can be one day also proud of me and let's see what future will bring!"

Dad gave Jack smile and Jack saw in dad's eyes happiness. His dad was once more again proud of his son. Son, who became mature over one night.

As we know today is April Fool's Day, so why not to have some fun? I would like to share one awesome prank, which made my day because I fooled with it many people :-D So, if you don't know how to prank your friends, relatives etc. read my blog and go for it!

I can assure you that you will definately succeed!

Well, what do you need? It is kind of simple. Just white thread, little bit of saliva and TV or monitor.

The point of this joke is to show others that your screen was broken or scratched. Try to stick by little bit of saliva white thread on TV, so that it would give impression of demaged surface and that is all you need to do. Just be patient becuase it took me some nerves to stick it! :-D

My main object of this joke was my husband, who is in love with our TV! I emailed him the picture of demaged screen, wrote that our daughter threw one toy (car) on it and of course he immediately called me. Actually, I took big risk because I felt like he would have heart attack! He started telling me on the phone with totally sad voice, that panel of TV is broken and that nobody is able to repair it etc. I just let him talk for one minute (sorry, I am not so cruel) and then said: "April Fool!!!" You can't imagine, how shocked and surprised he was and later admitted, it was really good tricky joke :-D

Here is the picture, however for some unknwon reason I can't turn it here, so just turn your heads to see it :-D

H A P P Y  F O O L'S  D A Y

and... HAVE FUN!!!

Hello my friends and enemies,

believe it or not but this blog is my blog number:

Don't you think it should be little bit special? Ok, ok so let me start with my speech. Ohh...by the way you can come across many times two numbers: 1 and 100. Weird coinscidence!

Firstly I want to point out that I still wonder, how I was able to write 100 blogs within even not 1 year. Actually, in 1 month it is going to be 1 year I started blogging here and I think I went totally mad and obsessed with it!!!

Secondly, I would like to sum up in this blog some of my activities here on my EC because such opportunity doesn't knock twice. I don't want to brag about anything, please don't take it like this but honestly, even I was surprised, how active I was and it made me kind of speechless.

So let's start with the blogs. As I have already mentioned I have written 100 blogs (including this one) and to be sincere I am lazy to count, how many of them were featured :-D (thank you Expercor Smith and others). As a true nerd I do participate in every writing challenge Tara or Expector Smith starts here and also in some Writing Prompts because I find it interesting and great opportunity, how to improve our English skills, especially since we are being corrected. I came up with few own challenges and I was really happy that one of them was kind of succesful and even our admin Tara participated, which was a big honour to me.

Besides, more than 100 people gave like to my page. I still don't believe it and find it incredible! Thank you, guyssss! As for my page, I just tried to make it original by using my own voice recording as an intro. If you are up to it, guys, go for it too, it will make you more closer to others (at least I think so). My video Let's start blogging got more than 2.500 views and more than 100 likes. Do believe me I am not watching it five times a day because as the time passes by, I find myself so strict and cold there!!! :-D I came up last year with the contest Mr. and Ms EC, which was we can say popular and even though thanx to some people I went through bad times, eventually I was pleasantly surprised that you guys liked it and I got great feedback and support from you.

I also started two groups here. Kill your fear of talking with 453 members, which was featured and got 234 likes and EC Cooks is the name of the second one. As for Kill your fear of talking, I can say it is not active lately but I will try to do my best, to force and kick people to record themself once more again.

I am also glad I became once (1) a STAR member and in general got so many nice feedbacks from admin Tara, moderators such as Expector Smith, Robbie, Junco and Grace. I do appreciate your work a lot!

Now it is high time to come up with something touchy - so here we gooo... by the was I do mean it..

Thank you EC for everything because thanks to you, my English got improved and I also met awesome people from all around the world. Let's see, what the next months will bring, however I am sure I won't be able to post another 100 blogs in 11 months because I will be busy with my personal stuff. And last but not least, thank you all my friends for everything, I am happy you are part of my life and I do appreciate your friendship, even though it is just Internet but who cares, ha? Ufff.. now I can rest in peace!

So enough of talking and let me all invite you for a party....

ooooops.... I have just 100 cakes :p

Let's Not Waste Our Time!

We all were given one life and it is up to us, how we will enjoy it. There is just one enemy we can't ever beat nor kill. Time. Yes, ticking and cruel time sooner or later shows us by losing the closest ones that our mission on this planet is limited, not everlasting. People like playing with the idea of the eternal life. However, I think that to reach the eternity would change values. Wouldn't we become careless, bored and flegmatic?

Hence we should breathe freely and shouldn't burry hope whenever the things are not that good as we wish them to be. Hence we should be happy for being here and should appreciate this all. We tend to surround ourself by people, who don't care about us. We tend to be important to people, who even don't know, who we are. We want to help others but they sometimes think we didn't mean it or we did the things on purpose. We waste our time on this all, which is a way useless, however without own failures we wouldn't move on, we wouldn't learn a lesson. Life is beautiful but we should pay attention more to ourself and to our needs instead of being used by others or expect that something will happen without any effort. It might sound selfish but eventually it is you, who play the most important role here and it is you, who it is all about. So don't forget that time is ticking and ticking and day by day you are closer to the end. Instead of being sad, go and enjoy everything on the maximum!!!

LIVE your colorful life, enjoy your every day,

don't care too much what others think or say ;-)

My awesome night with EC member :-D

Thank youuuuuuu EnglishClub!!!!! Thank you sooooo much!!! :-D Ehm... What has happened? Well, if I didn't know Dani (Jack Daniel's – my Czech neighbour) I would have never got to know about the awesome band Scott Bradlee Post Modern Jukebox. If I didn't know this band, I would have never gone to their concert! I would have missed a big amazing event!

Yes, you are right, dear reader...ME and DANI have met. Even though we are from the same country, we became friends thanks to the EnglishClub. Since Dani is a jazz fan, approximately two months ago she suggested to me one video of the American band Postmodern Jukebox and I immediately fell in love with it. I watched many, many other videos of them on Youtube like crazy.

However, wait a second, I guess I should firstly introduce you this band instead of cool blablaing here. Well, in short it is all about one ambitious man Scott Bradlee. This guy - founder, very talented pianist, musician, composer from New York started his group. He was always dreaming of such project and eventually his dream came true. With almost no budget, just one camera, talented musicians and singers he recorded videos in his own living room. During a year 2013 the videos became viral on YouTube and I can just say: Hats off becuase it is admirable to me! As for PostModern Jukebox one can come across various musicians, vocalists even teppers etc. They focus on covers of the songs we all know (such as by Maroon 5, George Michael, Da Vici, Lady Gaga, even Justin Bieber :-D etc.) … anyway.. what is so special about it? Firslty, they rearrange the songs so that they would sound and give atmospehre of 30' – 60', secondly the singers I have to point out ALL the singers have such incredible voices and are so talented that to listen to them is simply unforgottable experience. Thirdly, do believe me that if you listen to them, even your mom or grandpa will join you and will like it :-)

Anyway, let's go back to my story. One day Dani told me (of course in English because we communicate here almost only in English – nice nerds, ha?) that PostModern Jukebox would be soon on European tour and that..... they are coming to MY CITY!!! Can you imagine how excited I was? I couldn't have missed this chance!!! We bought the tickets online and were waiting and waiting for our big day. Finally, yesterday this day came and we met at the railwaystation. It was a way funny because we couldn't see each other. We both on the phone and standing just few meters from each other :-) It was nice to meet her and we directly went to the club, where the concert took part. Since we arrived there little bit earlier, we got great opportunity to stand very close to the stage. Wooow, such a short distance from all the musicians made it even more awesome! I felt like in the heaven because people I admired, watched their videos just via my laptop, all those people were suddenly in front of me! It was such a beautiful feeling to listen to them live and enjoy their fabulous show. I can hardly express it by the words because I lack the superlatives to describe it better. After the concert Dani and I went to Stodolni street, which is famous street with its 100 bars, clubs, restaurants, discos etc. As true devoted English fans we couldn't have chosen better place than Irish Pub where we were surrounded by many English speaking people, which made good atmosphere. We discussed the concert, gossiped about EC and had good fun, even though we both were very tired. I accomponied then Dani to the railwaystation and went back home. Even though I have slept just for three hours and right now I am totally dead, I will never regret because we agreed with Dani on one thing – IT WAS WORTH IT!

I would like to end up this blog with one proverb that suits the best to this situation: I killed two birds with one stone :-D Why? Easy, I met nice, smart, funny girl and we enjoyed great, awesome concert! Thanx, Dani!

Experctor's Writing Challenge: Modals

I should have been smarter. Yes, now I know that one can hardly trust a man. I can't breathe, I can't eat nor live my life because my heart was broken! I would like to be once more again that one girl I used to be but how can I force my mind to change the way of thinking? Others keep on telling me: "You ought to be more rational than emotional." Pfff, I know this all, however reality might differ. I must overcome it, otherwise it will soon kill me! Firstly, I must get myself together. Secondly, I need to get my dignity back. I also shouldn't be so naive, I will be independent and free. So... where is a man of my dreams asking me on his knees: "May I spend the rest of my life with you?"

Writing - My Love

Writing is my favourite therapy. I am crazily obsessed with writing and I consider it an incredible, amazing way, how to express myself. It gives me so much and takes just one thing – my time. However, I don't regret. Time I invest in writing is not wasted, since I spend it on something meaningful ,what will remain here forever, what my kids, their kids will be able to read after many years when I am gone. It makes me feel good to share via writing my emotions, ideas, to show others who I am, what bothers me, what is right now on my mind or what I have experienced. Writing has magical impact on me because I feel relaxed, calm and it also helps me to get rid of the stress or sadness. Life with its ups and downs forces me time to time to stop, think and write. Honestly, to confess to the paper everything works like a therapy, no matter if I share it or throw it away. Besides, I can say writing opens my secret door, activates my fantasy, imagination and wakes up some hidden thoughts inside of me. At times thanks to writing I realised many new things I had no idea about and it helped me to move on, to change my way of thinking, to see the life from the different perspective. Hence, it is worth it!  So don't hesitate, open your secret door and show us here, who you are ;-)

Writing Challenge: My Eponym

L u c i c t o p u s

Meaning: BrE, AmE [lutsiktəpəs] Prounounciation

adj., defines a person – mom (rarely even dad), who is very busy with the kids, multitasking, able to deal with more than three tasks at the same time.

Example:

1. If a partner of the lucictopus woman doesn't appreciate her, he will be treated very badly.

2. Once you reach a lucictopus state, your life will turn upside down.

Origin: Luci is a mom of two little kids, who is busy almost 24/7. Since she lives on her own, she must usually deal with many situations. At times she feels like two hands are not enough and that is why she became jealous of one sea animal – an octopus. Imagination of having so many tentacles (in human beings - hands) fascinated her so much that she even asked some scientists to start working on the project called "Artifical hands for lucictopus women". She also thinks that it would be very helpful for moms of the twins. An adjective "Lucictopus" was named after her and her role model octopus.

Quick Quiz

During a day you can come across lucictopus people in:

a) a pub drinking carelessly

b) a playground blowing nose of one kid, watching what the second one is doing and thinking about what will be for dinner

c) a beauty saloon enjoying their services

Brain: Interesting facts, idioms

Every computer has its processor, so when it comes to human body, I personally consider our brain incredible and hardworking processor. It controls so many functions such as move, sight, hearing, language, furthermore brain also contains centers, which are responsible for the memory, emotions, intelligence, motivation etc. There used to be a myth in the past, that we use only 10% of our brain but it is totally wrong because nowadays is known that we use almost all the capacity it provides. You may find it weird but our brain is composed of 60% of fat! There are so many activities, especially the multitasking ones we take for granted but.. ehm, let's go through one simple example: Just imagine that you are eating and reading a book. Maybe not a big deal for you but your brain has to turn on the centers of sight, taste, hearing, reading, memory and maybe even others I am not now aware of them. Why? Of course, that you don't read and eat with closed eyes, so that is why sight and reading, since you eat you are able to recognise the taste of food, when you turn on the page, you can hear the sound of it and you are also able to remember, what you have read. Isn't it awesome?

Once our brain is demaged, it can have bad impact on the quality of our life. The brain needs oxygen and even 5-10 minutes without it can end up with fatal consequences. We might lose our memory thanks to the accident or also thanks to the serious diseases. What about stroke? This is kind of a different case becuase it is not about lack of oxygen but here is the main problem blood circulation. It is very dangerous and if you are aware of the symptoms, you are able to save someone's life. In fact the earlier you notice something is wrong, the higher chance suffering person will have to get back to the normal life. Just remember, if somebody starts talking non-senses, is disorientated with blurred vision, isn't able to move both hands or legs up, isn't able to give you smile or whistle, then there is a high chance that this person suffers from stroke and you should immediately go to the hospital or call the ambulance because time plays a big role here.

As we know there are many things, which can affect brain functions. Lack of sleep without doubt is the reason why our brain is unable to work properly, we are not fully concentrated, disturbed and it can also have bad effect on our memory. What about alcohol? In the past scientists thought that alcohol kills brain cells BUT it was proved that it was not true! Therefore we can't deny for example that thanks to huge ammount of alcohol in our body our temporary memory is unable to work, so that is why drunk people don't remember in the morning, what they were doing during the last night. However, there are also positive things, which can affect our brain. Listening to the music is highly recommended because it activates dopamine, that makes us feel pleasure, satisfaction the same what we feel when we eat something delicious. Meditation might be also a good way how to make our brain relaxed after hard day. Another interesting fact is that estrogen (hormon which you can find more in women than in men) promote better memory function and … here we go! That is why men usually don't remember birthday of their girlfriends or wives or forget what date it was when they got married! :D

In my opinion it is very important to train our brains because it prevents us from various disseases. Learning something new, memorizing rhymes, lyrics, it all efficiently helps us to build a big awesome brain. For many reasons we should focus on solving the quizes, crosswords or sudoku, playing Tetris etc., so that we would avoid for instance Alzheimer dissease. Eating sea food is also very heatlhy because according to the studies people, who eat seafood three times a week have 30% less possiblity of suffering from dementia in the future.

And now after torturing your brains with the facts, let's move on and let me add some useful idioms related to brain:

Rack your brain

It means you think very hard, you are very concentrated on solving a problem etc.

Example: I am rackoning my brain right now, therefore I still have no idea how to finish this blog!

Do a brainstorm

To come up all of a sudden with good idea.

Example: To start an interesting project, the best managers of the company decided to gather and to do a brainstorm.

To brainwash someone

To repeat something what is not true over and over again with the intention to influence mind of the second one.

Some dangerous sects can easily brainwash many people, who join them within a weeks.

Brain drain

The situation when intelligent people leave one area or country to make better money abroad.

Brain drain in my country caused that doctors better search for a perspective job in Germany for economical reasons.

So my dear friends, don't underestimate your brain,

live healthy, be active and don't let it die in vain!

A Bench With Own Secrets

Even though it was foggy and cold, I decided to take a walk with my kids because I just felt like they need some fresh air stay. Since I love photography I took some pictures and then all of a sudden a lawesome bench caught all my attention. I got obsessed with taking the pictures of it and started thinking, how many secrets it may hide. This place we visited was the historical place with a big memorial dedicated to the victims of the World War 2 and the fist thing, which was on my mind was: "How all those fights here looked like?" Many people died and 80% of the village was destroyed, but luckily the Russian army in the end saved this part of region from the German dictatorship.

When you take a closer look, you can see that this bench is not anything historical. Therefore our life is hectic and we sitll lack time, I am convinced that many people found here inner peace and enjoyed their stay. How many lovers were sitting on it, promising love to eath other and how many of them stood together? Life is short and I bet many mothers were siting on this bench watching their kids playing in front of them. How many mothers are now proud of those kids after many years? Also an old men on his walk may have taken a rest and may have sit on it and think about his life and this place.

Foggy weather has its own magic, it is kind of scary but mysterious, that is why I like the atmosphere of it. Places that are clearly visible might be in a few minutes covered by the thick fog and lost till the end of the day. Dear bench, I hope you will be there for many years no matter if hidden in fog or not, I hope your untold secrets will be increasing day by day!

Is Love an Addiction?

After reading the title of this blog, some of you may think I went mad. Am I right? However, I have been thinking and thinking for a long time, many things popped up in my mind and the result of this process is a big chaos in my brain. Yes, these thoughts kind of killed my romantic, naive imagination of love and right now I would like to destroy your perception of romantic love by reading this blog :-D Am I mean? Not at all, just try to look at the things from my point of view for a while ;-)

Warning: If you are a romantic soul, who doesn't want to kill their ideas, please stop reading right now! :-D

Let's start with some questions, so my dear reader, ask yourself and try to answer:

"What if we all just like an illusion that love is going to be the same forever as it was at the beginning?"

"Why we think that life without a person we love would be hell?"

"Why we feel nervous, down, lost when we are not sure about our love?"

"Isn't this all similar to the feelings of junkies, who enjoy being under the effect of drug and can't live without it?"

Love is a feeling. Some people think it is related to the heart but in my opinion it has more to do with our brain. Let me introduce this topic with one example, which can prove that love is probably a weird addiction.

Mary and Peter met each other at University. They spent a lot of time together and became the best friends. One day Mary got sick and couldn't meet Peter. What happened? Peter realised, how much Mary meant to him and that this was not just common friendship but love. He felt nervous, desperate, insecure, couldn't sleep becuase he missed Mary - he missed his drug. Some of those symptoms are symptoms of people, who are addicted to the drug and desperately miss it. Peter felt something new, he experienced abstinence syndrome. His love Mary then recovered from her illness and they both felt like they were born for each other. They had the same opinions, enjoyed their cool sense of humour and shared the same bright vision of their future. Peter and Mary got married and felt so happy. Every day they were drunk by their love (no wonder - they were drug to each other). Since their love got increased day by day, of course emotions it gave them were also more and more intensive. That is why some drug addicted people need after some time drug with better effect. Peter and Mary satisfied their needs by increasing their own emotions. To keep love at the same level forever is not easy and some people might fail because they find themself in monotone, stereotyped marriage or relationship. The same happened to our couple. In some years they both got changed, which is something natural. It caused that their opinions were not the same as they used to be, their sense of humour differed and imagination of their future became blurred. How come? Effect of the addiction started fading away and they were not able to keep it up. They stopped being drug to each other. What to do? Some people get on with it, others try to renew their marriage life and try to search again for all those feelings they used to have at the beginning. They go back to the past and want to find their drug addiction once more again. The last group of people move on and try to find a new drug. They want to feel, what they felt once more again but since their partner (drug) has no effect on them, they are dying to find their new love(drug).

So after this all I am still asking myself: "Is love an addiction?"

We feel nice with the partner we fell in love, we feel comfortable, wanted and this all may cause that we become emotionally addicted to this person. In short there is a big bond between the partners but it can work only in the case that both are addicted to each other. From my point of view this addiction should be healthy and shouldn't turn to obsession, otherwise it can destroy everything. As we know desperate people, who were dumped by their loved ones, were able to commit suicide. Why? They lost sense of their life, they lost their love (drug) and couldn't get over it becuase their love became their obsession. Luckily not all are weak. After break up, we go through something like a detoxicatoin therapy to get rid of our addiction, to forget bitter things that hurt us. I think that the only difference from drug addicted people is that this process is more emotional than physical.

Anyway, time is the best healer. Of course, as time passes by our addiciton gets weaker and weaker and one day we are again ready to enjoy this sweet addiction called LOVE.

It Is Easy To Judge

As some of you know I am atheist but the question is: "Does anybody of you know the reason?" I bet, you have no idea. I bet, you think I am arrogant person with own pride, who decided not to accept God in her life. You know, people judge me easily just because of the fact that I am not religious, even though they know nothing about me. They take me - atheist - automatically as a bad person without morals, values and of course they look down on me. Actually, I have never come across such attitude in my entire life, so do believe me that it is sort of shocking to me. However, this is what this website taught me and I can honestly say that I am thankful to this new experience.

My friends (no matter what their religion is) know who I am and they would never think in this way about me. I don't judge people on the basis of their religion. What matters to me is their character. I don't pretend anything, I am who I am and I am not hidden here behind a fake mask. To be sincere is one of my morals. Yes, I have morals! Weird? Not at all...

I was born in the country, where people mainly are atheists (If I am not wrong statistics say more than 80% are atheists here). My parents, my grandparents, my all classmates, just one girl was religious. To be honest when I look around, there are no believers I would be surrounded by. My all relatives, friends, co-workers, boss, teachers, simply nobody. Is this my fault? Is history of my country my fault? Yes, it is about history, just for you information. I don't want to start here any historical lectures but this whole religious issue has its roots in 17th century. However, as for the latest historical period - the important fact is that we have been for 41 years under the control of the communists, who were totally against the religion. We didn't have freedom here, we were persecuted for own opinions, we couldn't say in the public anything against this regime, otherwise we would be imprisoned. We didn't study subjects such as religion and I have never experienced any discussion about God's existence at school. It might sound awkward but this systém from my point of view killed God. Is this also my fault that I was born and grew up in such environment?

Some of you might opose now and can say: „Ok, but she is mature, there is freedom, she can change her way of thinking and can accept God in her life.“ Believe it or not, I was thinking about it and I simply can't. Nothing like pride or stubborness have to do with it because I am not this kind of person. I just feel that I can't totally change all my life and especially the way of thinking. Just imagine and tell me: "Can you become right now atheist?" Of course, you can't.

I am happy to be a part of this website. I don't want to start any fights here, I just dislike when things are unfair. I asked one question and this is my "sin". To write a blog about me, to say this is not anything personal, to use parts of discussion against me, to give me image of somebody who I am not, this all I find kind of backstubbing, especially as long as it was written by somebody, who calls himself my friend. If this is the way how the religious people introduce their opinions and treat friends, then let me be out of this and let me enjoy my life, in which friendship has way different meaning.

Blood Group Experiment - RESULTS!!!

Hello guys,

here I am with my Blood Group Experiment and the RESULTS!!! I hope you all are eagerly waiting because the day and hour I promised to publish the answers has come :-) Thank you all for participating in this experiment, I do appreciate it and I am glad that we all could have had fun like this.

However, let me firstly say one important thing. I personally don't believe that blood group determines personality. As Mr. Bob mentioned in his comment, this is something people believe in Japan and it has long tradition there. I have also read that Korean people believe in this too. Anyway, I decided to start this research for one simple reason - to prove that there are so many people with so many personalities that we simply can't divide into four groups (0, A, B, AB).

As for the comments, I coudn't have used all the answers because some of them were incomplete either without blood group or not completely answered.

So here are those 26 people, who answered perfectly according to the rules:

GROUP 0

meadow                           1d    2d    3d    4c    5a    6c

Sathiavathi km                  1d   2b    3b    4d    5a    6c

Ratu                                 1b   2b    3b    4a    5a    6b

Jesson                              1d   2b    3a    4c     5a    6b

Nick.311                           1a   2b    3d    4b     5a    6b

Darius                              1d    2b    3a    4b    5a    6b

rysperski                          1d    2b    3d    4b     5c    6b

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GROUP 0 seriously surprised me. We have here 7 people and their answers don't differ so much! After seeing this I started doubting little bit about connection between blood group and personality :-) Check this out:

Question 1: 5 same answers, Question 2: 6 same answers, Question 3: 3 same answers, Question 4: 3 same answers, Question 5: 6 same answers, Question 6: 5 same answers. If we focus on people whose answers were the closest to each other, it is obvious that couple Darius and Jesson rock becuase they answered 5 times the same!

GROUP A

Evangelina                        1d    2b    3d    4b    5c    6b

Mansour Albanna               1a    2a    3c    4a    5c    6b

REEY@Z                           1c    2b     3a    4c    5a    6b

Shane                              1d    2b     3b    4b    5c    6c

Expector Smith                 1d    2a     3b    4d    5a    6b

♥Nangfa♥                          1c    2b     3b    4b    5c    6c

Peaceful_girl                     1d    2d     3a    4c    5d    6b

H1N1                               1d    2b     3b     4c    5a    6c

Lady Anne                        1d    2b     3d     4a    5a    6b

Rasty kross                       1d    2d     3d     4c    5c    6d

Batuhan                            1b    2a     3b     4c    5a    6b

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Group A is something totally different to Group 0. Here we have 11 people with I would say totally different answers, which proves that blood group and personality can't match since above mentioned people reacted in totally different way. Check this out:

Question 1: 7 same answers, Question 2: 6 same answers, Question 3: 5 same answers, Question 4: 5 same answers, Question 5: 5 same answers, Question 6: 7 same answers. Who are here those who had almost the same answers? It is Shane and Nangfa they both answered 5 times the same!!!

GROUP B

Gulzar Hussain                  1d    2b     3d     4d    5a    6c

Akash Ramtri                    1d    2d     3a     4b    5a    6b

Sandra                             1d    2b     3a     4d    5a    6c

Eagle                               1b    2c     3b      4d    5a    6b

 femina                            1b    2b     3a      4c    5c    6b

웃웃웃Cr0c0diL3⌨⌨⌨       1b    2c     3a      4a    5c    6b

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Group B also proved that not all respondents answered the same. We have here 6 people, so let's check the answers:

Question 1: 3 same answers, Question 2: 3 same answers, Question 3: 4 same answers, Question 4: 3 same answers, Question 5: 4 same answers, Question 6: 4 same answers. When we check out answers, we can see that a couple Sandra and Gulzar Hussain answered 5 times the same!!!

GROUP AB

Inna                                 1d    2b     3a     4b    5b   6c

Luci                                  1d    2c     3b     4c    5c    6b

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you can see Group AB is rare. I decided to participate too before I saw other answers, so I think that there is no problem and at least we can comapre two people here. Inna and me - we have just one same answer!

Now let me sum it up and tell you what is the profile of average EC member according to your answers - if I count the most frequent answers.

Well, this member is very helpful person because he/she is ready to help people in need even though they weren't nice with him/her in the past! He/she is not somebody, who would spend big money in few days, this person is very careful and think twice, if they should invest money in family, education etc. Let me add that he/she prefers living in peace and health is also important for him/her. If a person this member loved start blackmailing him/her with the suicide, they would either left this person and check, if they are alive OR they would feel so scared and stressed. When this person finds themself in dangerous situation, he/she reacts with calm mind. As for the gifts and white lies, you can bet that this person is modest and if they didn't like the gift you gave them, they will just say: Thank you.

CONCLUSION:

As you can see from all the answers, we can hardly say that BLOOD GROUP determines our personality. We all are unique and we all differ a lot! As for our personality, I am convinced that it is related to our brain, others can say it is about our soul. No matter what it is, in my opinion blood group that circulates in our body is definately not reponsible for our actions.

Thank you all for being a part of this experiment and I am curious to read your comments and opinions on this topic!
