MyEC living room, issue #1

Come in, I am happy to meet you!

Tea? Coffee? Okay, let's talk about how we have been spending our time here...

First of all, I wanted to thank all of you out of this nice company and other bloggers who commented in my blog. Good job, guys! I appreciate your comments! =)

Besides, during the last time I have been reading your blogs regularly and try to share my point of view if I have something to say. I would like to remember once more a string of blogs which had touched me especially. So, I am going to give a few remarks on them and along with this I want to introduce my friends to each other as at a real table. ;)

Actually, to arrange such a coffee-break I was inspired by heartfelt posts made by rose (My First Two Days in English Club) and Smiling moon (Warm feeling ^_^). I absolutely agree with Jason that proper communication is important and, quoting him, "there are kind hearts around".

Some pages which I had come across turned out to be really resourceful. Ika inspired a really vivid discussion These Are My Favorite english learning sites. what's yours? and so she started sharing really precious resources for learning English. Yum-yum, tasty page! ;)

Another vital information about Present simple or continuous-Test your English was published by Monika. By the way, check out her profile! You will be definitely amazed by the whole cloud of resourses on her page!

I often ask myself the same question as Alexandra: Multitasking. Does it exist or not?
After the first reading of this post I recalled my previous job. Nevertheless, reading along with listening also can be considered as multitasking. They say it helps to study English. Did you try it? I got a brilliant idea how to do this from Javier's post about A history of the world in 100 objects.

Are you going to stop on learning just English? Are you going to try other languages as well? Mimi Kao's thinking is far more outside the box. She asks Will you raise your child up as a bilingual? Also you can notice an interesting video in the discussion of her post.

There were a lot more interesting pages worth to mention. Sorry if I missed someone.

A couple of words about what I have noticed while reading your blogs. There are not few servises providing communities, forums, blogging etc. However, if I had to choose the community now, after I had wandered through other websites and their communities, I would choose MyEC again. Why?

Now I have always been thinking whose blog to visit and what to say. I am thinking of you, guys! =)  I realize that I have to prepare my thoughts in English, so I started to catch myself on thinking in English sometimes. Wow, great feeling! Oh..., not everytime, just sometimes. Don't overestimate my English! ;)

The main thing, I concluded that warm community relations help to start thinking English. So, not just community helps, not just blogging helps. Warm communication is the thing which really helps in developing this particular skill.

Thus, I admit I really enjoy my dwelling on MyEC and my English goes on improving. :)

What could I do without you!
I am happy with my choise... How about you? ;)

Oh... this video below about communication

is what I have prepared as a funny desserthttp://www.babble.com/CS/blogs/strollerderby/2009/05/bake-cake-graphic.jpg.

Enjoy!

Well, I am giving you my big hugs! Come again sometimes... Okay?

  • Hi Javier,

COFFEE-CUP-Coffee-Cup-days-comments-words-misc-comments-TO-GIVE-TO-OTHERS-day-k-album-loris-images-goodmorning-nk-cute-JoyJoyNiv-sexy-greeting-food-drinks-drinks-my-album-Hello-coffee-funny-weekend-great-day-Love_large.jpg?width=268Thanks for the link. It becomes a good custom to exchange with links on learning resourses. I am afraid our guests got confused what language they study. :D Hey, guests, is everything alright?

Okay, if noone is objecting, I'll share one more link for Javier and everyone who knows Spanish better then English. This website is bilingual, and, actually, by means of this website I learn Spanish through English, but it's possible to do the same just vice versa, here - http://www.spanishdict.com/aprender

Oh, Javier, here is your coffee; sorry, the chocolate melted... inside of the cup... ;)

  • Hi again,-)

Take a look at spanishfree.org maybe...

    bye

Learn Spanish Free | SpanishFree | Easy Spanish
You can learn Spanish absolutely free. You will find grammar, vocabulary, verbs and practice, everything all free
  • hehehehe I need one! dark coffe with a piece of chocolate just to feel its tastes, if I might say it of course;-P

I'm from volcanoes' spotlight programme, I keep this strategy for the future:-) taallk sslowwlyy when I need to do the next exam, with a bunch of sentences you can ask during 15 minutes and if I can administrate the silences...25 minutes or more!-D

Many thanks Oksana, nobody knows where a new strategy is hidden, although I'm sure basic levels (as the mine) will appreciate this effort-)

    npr.org seems quite interesting.

Qwiki is an alpha version, so it could be useful by 1.- Students of basic and intermediate English level, listening, translation 2.- A place to collect summarize information about different topics and related information. After that, if the student want more and specific information he needs to surf on the net.

The future will say if this site grow or not, useful information about it on "about us".

    hugs ( 4 your dog 2!-)

  • Oh, folks, I almost got asleep while listening to this radio - spotlightradio.net; they speak so slooooowly as it were hypnosis. Does it help for learning? What helps better, sleeping or speed? ;)

It makes one need a cup of coffee, though. Who wants? =)

spotlightradio.net - This website is for sale! - spotlight spotlite script program programm…
This website is for sale! spotlightradio.net is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more…
  • Thanks, Javier, for sharing Qwiki site. It looks and sounds interesting, they use quite good voice generator. Though, I'm not sure about the role of a usual visitor of this web site. There is not much explanation in their FAQ page. Perhaps, everything is clear to all except me. ;)

By the way, I found a radio station which provides transcripts to each post. It's npr.org. There I got to know that Peter Falk, the legendary detective Columbo from TV series died. My Dog liked these series.

  • Poor dog! I was wondering why it didn't bite me, and now I see it is strictly banned to it!

Well, I'll try to convince to your dog about learning English grammar (yes, I know, it's a selfish reason) while angels help me with my very mistakes:-D

Thus I recommend to watch and hear topics of its interests at Qwiki, with or without subtitles, where it can manage the voice speed, and also make its contribution.

By the way, all friends could use this service while have a drink (dog's suggestion):-D

    Enjoy

  • Javier,

I am happy to be surrounded with such helpful people as you are! Thanks for your offer of help, I will definitely take advantage of it if any questions arise. These days I am getting familiar how to read in Spanish and also reading in English about the very basic Spanish grammar. Along with this I am collecting resourses, everything which would be helpful at any stage of this long journey.

I have listened to La madre. Very impressive reading! You can grasp the basic sense of it just from the emotions expressed by the reader. So, I can recommend this piece of read as a special therapy to anyone. :)

Although there are a couple of resourses on Spanish grammar in Russian, obviously, that  wouldn't be sufficient. So, I am happy to realize that English is helpful a great deal. I even can't express how much! And I again must say, what could I do without you! Once, it already appeared in the post above. =)

I've ordered my Dog to serve you with the absolute allegiance. Currently biting is restricted just to inanimate things. Sieze the moment, you can use him for making holes before you bind your books. ;)
