thanks sharing that info yoh.. \(^-^)/
  • Hi Fizzy, I googled summer fest and found some. This is the largest one called Summer Sonic, which attracts 200,000 people. But the concert is around Tokyo or Osaka. You can't relax that much.

  • lucky for you be able to see star.. im living in town.. so there's no star here.. too many light..

i dont know summer fest exist in japan.. i thought its only in the anime.. after saw there is summerfest in beck and now K-ON.. its cool...
  • In this week "Arakawa under the Bridge"(Ep12) there were Stars too... But in K-On... I saw it today morning, but don't recall.... stars, maybe there really was some.

Well, we have nice shooting stars, already at august. I have seen Auroras too, but don't remember what season.. In winter I think.. they weren't fancy..
Currently the night is shortest of the year, then we really have probably only brightest stars visible, but it have been cloudy currently.. yesterday rained a lot.. But today as just for "Jaanipäev"(Midsummer Day) it's sunny again, which is surprising and disappointing for me.. The Midsummer Day is one of the most important event here.. together with Christmas at winter.. The main thing is that people lid fires for this event..

Well I haven't celebrated it some years already. I'm not drunkard and I'm not kid anymore, so I don't celebrate it. It's just for beer drinking stupids. So I'm disappointed that it wont hail outside today night. It would be great if it would pour rain.. thunder and hail. I could laugh at those who want to celebrate..

Ah, but there are many customs for this event. Like jumping over fire, searching for fireflies, and searching for fern blossom.. Well each of them had some meaning, but don't remember what they meant.. some kind of luck. I think the girl who finds fern blossom will get married.. or smth.. Of course I'm aware that fern doesn't have blossoms, but it's just a custom.. And some people believe that the water in spring might become to vodka and they go to check if it have become.. well all just for fun. lol

But really, I feel, it's just for kids and drunkards, I never really fit into crowds, such parties and things.. don't feel anything, Don't feel the magic about siting around the fire.. That some people claim they feel from fire... I think. or.. well, whatever. :)

Ah yes well, no. No I'm not unhappy, or anything, because others have fun without me. I just got little fired up, that's all. :) LOL
  • Stars must be so beautiful in Hardi's place. K-ON ep 12 just reminded me of that.
Oh, the sky never gets dark in summer in Estonia ... I forgot about that^ ^
  • Wow, you have no idea how I want to live in a place like that.
Me and my friends used to, but the "urbanizing" made it just memory now.
That's why I'm searching a whole new world through anime... (It's like adventures)
But don't worry, I'm not the type of spending all day doing that :)) I am having a big dream and having to strive for that dream in order to be able to see a new world :D
Anyway, anime did a good job showing me how I want the world to be...
  • Hardi, your place is very nice – full of nature, blessed by very old mysterious histories! I love your grandpa, who tricked the scholars^ ^

Back in my hometown, there were some places where kids were told not to go because a Kappa will attack and take their spirit out of their body. Such places were deep ponds and a river with fast current. It seems to be the wisdom of people to protect kids from drowning.

But… My dog loved to go for a walk. She didn’t mind going anywhere, but there were two spots where she never wanted to get close. Both were a kind of shady place a little down the slope. I could not see anything strange, but now I believe my dog was seeing something like material fairies (or evils)^_^
  • Hi yoh. Such forests/places exist in Estonia too.. I think. But we don't have wakkun.. and I haven't had direct experience with such place.

Though there was nearby some very old stone graves to our countryside home. And my dad and grandfather did not like us to go to play there, but I think that was more like as for respect for ancestors, or smth.. Well I actually liked that forest. It didn't feel like a bad place.. I actually did not understand where exactly the graves where there. There was just a lot of granite stones scattered around in one area of forest and signs that there are stone graves and they are under protection, ....but yes that area I actually really did not like, it was darker and I never liked to play there.. I have heard that some of the stones of that place was used to build, or rebuild a church in nearby... don't know sure. there is many old stone graves in Estoina.. don't remember how old, but sure over 1000 years old.

There was also a big stone nearby, that is believed that it was sacrificing stone.. about 300 meters from our house. There's a legend, that says that Swedish king Gustav II Adolf hide gold under that stone .. I think it was Gustav II.. I'm bad of history and Sweden Have too many Gustavs.. Anyways hence the legend, there have many people dig and searched for it. When my Grandfather was young, then some students were doing archaeological digging there, My grandpa played a prank to them. he digged their hole deeper at night, and pressed the print of the bottom of a pot to the soil.. It became pretty big story, newspapers even wrote that someone saw how Swedish king bring the gold away, with a carriage that had 6 white horses.. or something.

The picture of the sacrifice stone, where Swedish king hide the cold. The sing says that this is a sacrifice stone from... (can't read the date out from photo, Something B.C.E I guess) and that it's under protection.

And there's the pic with forest, where the stone graves are http://my.englishclub.com/photo/a-landscape The pic is taken from our country side home yard... (the view to east). It's a very rural place. 1 km to south was my grandfathers house. half km to south west lived a old man who was a bit crazy.. back when I was kid there wasn't more habitants nearby.. Also we only spend weekends and holidays there. Weekdays we were in town.

Anyway I liked first half of Zettai Shonen much more, than second half. :) I started to re watch it too yesterday, but I have only watched 4 episodes of it for now... then I watched 3 episodes of Aria...
  • Hi Fizzy – thanks for the info. The live action may ruin some image of the original anime. But I expect that we find something more attractive than the original using the cutting edge film technologies. Yamato can travel faster than the speed of light using a warp drive. I want to see how it is shown on the film.
Do you like Takuya Kimura? He seems to be the main cast of the film. He was a top star from the popular idol group SMAP, just like Arashi right now.
  • Hi Hardi. I remember both the ant and mosquito bite scenes from Zettai Shonen. Rather than just showing the face of characters speaking, it successfully creates the atmosphere of summer. The detailed texture may be the sign of their craftsmanship, I guess. Because it is carefully made, we can enjoy something new every time we watch it. Isn’t that great?

I grew up in the countryside, where there is a mound forest that no one wants to disturb – just like in the first half of story. You can find that kind of places everywhere in Japan. They may be an entrance to the different worlds ^_^

Thank you for suggesting other animes. I will wait for another weekend to watch those^ ^
