It is said that nostalgia is chic, and there may be something about it. These are old plates hanging on the wall in the coolest way. I think so.This was one of the most fashionable and classic trends here ... Hmmm, back in time, I think for about fifty or even sixty years back. People used to collect these kind of plates to hang them on their wall in their home. It was an integrated part of decorating ones home. Some of these plates are very special brands. Bing and Groendahl made their first plate in 1895 and every year since then, they make a new one with a new special image on it, as carries along with it a story. Royal Copenhagen made their first plate in 1908 and they do the same every year as well.It is a trend that is getting popular here again. I actually like it, it looks somehow outstandingly beautiful.A question; Anyone who can spot a special plate among those? If so, then can you guess who is on the plate? :)Thank you Onee, for posting this amazing and interesting photo challenge. Please note: Photo is not from my home.

Smiles for the both of you, you are soooo sweet :))

I thought it would be easy because it was the only plate that is a little different. Well it was this one :)

Have a very magnificently awesome day to all :)

  • :( I was trying to find any living creatures on each plate, but I thought there are illustrated the house, gates and trees on that plate:( I didn't see H. C. Andersen there...

  • How I didn't see that! :)))) Thanks for telling us the answer....^^ What a beautiful plate!

  • :) Now, I realized what may I find special, may not be the same interpretation as others may have. It was the plate, as I find special because H. C. Andersen is pictured on it. He is my favorite fairy tale author :)

Thank you Roman and Onee for your so sweet trying to guess :)

  • Hello Roman,

    They are not mine.

The size of them ... Hmm, let me say, if you have a dinner set with different sizes of plates, it is similar size as they have.

    From 8cm to 30cm.

You are welcome. Thank you so much Roman for your nice comment :)

    I give the answer above...,

  • Hello Onee,

I think, somehow I lacked explaining well about those plates. Actually it was also a little bit difficult how exactly to explain their use, and to avoid making text along with the photo long, I skipped some information.

Those plates as I am talking about they are called “platter” but I cannot find the English word - Because there is a little difference in between “plates” and “platter”.

People used to collect them, because many of them symbolize different events of life. Like Mother’s Day ... etc and etc. They was used as home decorations, not as ordinary plates as one can eat from :))

But today as home decor, all kinds of plates are used, as expressed above it is getting popular trend again. In the photo above there is a mixture of ordinary plates and platters.

You are welcome Onee. Thank you so much for posting the photo challenge, my pleasure participating, also thank you so much for your nice comment :)
