Blog Challenge : Leadership Collocation

A few days ago I took a look at a posting from friend of mine that raised about the LEADERSHIP topic. This theme was illustrated by a photo of swarm of wolves. It took my interest in the message that tried to be showed by the author. The photo represented that the wolves were considered as a wild animal and they never took an educational institution could apply the tremendous leadership in their group.

Description of the photo :

A wolf pack: the first 3 are the old or sick, they give the pace to the entire pack. If it was the other way round, they would be left behind, losing contact with the pack.

In case of an ambush they would be sacrificed. Then come 5 strong ones, the front line. In the center are the rest of the pack members, then the 5 strongest following.

Last is alone, the Alpha.

He controls everything from the rear. In that position he can see everything, decide the direction. He sees all of the pack. The pack moves according to the elders pace and help each other, watch each other.

From the photo above that has inspired me to take part in Expector Smith’s Writing Challenge, although I believe that my writing is not a new topic on myEC. I just try to write the blog in this theme corresponding with my style and my thoughts. The theme draw my attention to dig furthermore categorizing of a leader itself. In my religion has mentioned that everyone is a leader, it means, we are a leader minimal for ourselves. Why?because in reality, life itself is full of choices and we are the one who will decide our directions or destinations in the future.

I will more focus for a leadership in workplace, where the spirit of leader is needed both in management of company (the big scope) and within a project team (the small scope). Due to good leadership skill in a company can make a good profit as well as take company to the bright future. Basically everyone can be a boss but they are not necessarily a leader. So, what is the meaning of leader? Is it the same with the boss? This examples below that will make a difference of both :

Boss :

  • It is strong contrast  between the subordinate and the boss. It can describe clearly that subordinate have to do anything as their boss has ordered. Obey and comply.
  • Tend to dictate to subordinate about working plan that he/she already set up. It means the boss will not accept an input or an aspiration from their subordinates.
  • When his/her subordinates make a mistake he/she will be angry without providing solutions.
  • He gives a command to subordinate and let their executing his/her order without knowing what they do actually for sometimes

Leader :

  • There is no gap between the leader and the subordinate (but respect each other still need to keep). It create a harmonious relationship of both in order to achieve their goals.
  • Encourage or full support as well as give an opportunities to his/her subordinate to develop their good potentials.  It has meaning that the leader will accept the good aspiration from his/her subordinate.
  • If his/her subordinates make a mistake, he/she will rebuked and make a good suggestion to them so that they never do the same errors in the future.
  • Without he/she realize, he/she has inspired the people around him/her and give the positive things for work environment.

The examples above only a piece of the differences between a boss and a leader that these perceive by most of us in the workplace.

Nowadays so many trainings that are held to establish the leadership skill, which is in my humble view that theories are taught more similar one another of trainers. But all of them are the external factors that can sharp our leadership skill, the major and important factor is our experiences( I will not say it depends on ages, this are different things). Why I said this?because I believe we can be a good leader if we ever felt be subordinate and by the time we have knowledges  about how to recognize and how to handle the characters of people around us as well as it will form our vision indirectly.

In large or small scale of groups, these absolutely need a harmonious relationship between leader and subordinates because of it can boost the sense of togetherness, good cooperation and mutual trust to achieve their goals. These can be gained if there is a good leader in it who has a good vision not only a mission. So, both of the leader and subordinates must respect each other, because I believe there will be no a leader or bos if there are no subordinates and it should stand in vice versa.

Do you agree with me what I mentioned above? Please share your opinion or your experience if any related to this topic.

Maybe my blog’s challenge is lil bit different from other and is categorized a bit heavy topic and not many people like this topic as well, I have to confess it :D. Hope you enjoy reading my blog. Thanks for your precious time to visit and reading my blog.

  • Hi ⓔⓡⓩⓐ

Thanks a lot for stopping by and leaving comment on my blog.

Agreed, leader is a vital position in a country (if we are broad our topic scope). A lot of criterias that should be fulfilled by a leader not only money power.  And I believe nowadays so many injustices out there occuring which is caused by a bad leadership. And a leadership of country will effect all of the aspects of human life and sometimes the bad decisions that he/she has made will raise a victim of innocent people. Very sad for that.

    Have a nice day :)

  • Hi Mishaikh

Thanks for stopping by and commenting as well as reviewing my writing, I am very highly appreciate these. If there are still any mistakes please inform me I will fix it. Thanks again.

In my opinion everyone has different experiences to undergo their life even in their workplace. Yes we have to comply with boss’s command, because I believe he/she has a other consideration why he/she decides a that thing, besides sometime he/she still need our input before he/she will make a decision.

But I believe tooo and these are based on my true experiences that I have ever got that the true leader exist out there, and I can learn from them for a good a thing too.

For the last sentence from you that there is no worried, I completely agree Misha with you, because as long as the salary that I earn is equal with my leader I will never mind to be a subordinate hahaha….. only joke.

    Have a good day :)

  • Hi noaslpls ,

Thanks for sparing your time to read and comment on my blog.

Yes, I completely agree with you about relationship between leader and subordinate it should complement one another. As I mentioned above that there is will be no a leader without subordinates and it will be in force for vice versa.

Yes I agree with you again about leadership training. I myself not convinced about their material training, those are only the standard theory . I believe good/bad experiences will  form the leadership skill automatically not only in workplace even in their small scope like friendship. As the picture above even an animal have the leadership skill I think an human must be  better than them . Yes everyone absolutely can be a boss but to become a leader…no..no..:D :D, I am not sure about that.

    Have a good day :)

  • Hi abiba ,

First, thank for you time to read and comment on my blog.

Yes I agree with you, as a human who can make some mistakes sometimes during their tenure periode, but as long as he/she can learn from his/her mistakes and keep do the best for his/her team achieving goals, I think those are good manner as a true leadership.

    Have a lovely day :)
