  • Dear Arif! Here is your comment with my corrections .

We have the same tradition.___ It is celebrated once a year in July as an honour for our families that have passed away. __It is held at the cemetry. Each family has to make a parcel of food that is given to others. But we do not eat at the cemetry, the parcels are taken home for the families. So we just use that moment to show our respect and concern to one another

Well, as I wrote on the blog, I like your traditions. They are civilized, so to say, contrary to ours. As for me, I would give such parcels to very poor people who are in need indeed. I sometimes feel very bad when I think that some really good and respected people turned out to be "overboard" because of the political changes in my country and because they were not young enough to accept them. Thank you very much for your interesting story.
  • Hi, Armando! Welcome to my group. Your English is good. There are no mistakes in your comment. Nice to see you here
  • Arif, I will but later. I am overfilled with emothins today
  • Hi, Luis! Nice to meet you! Your English is not bad in general. Answering to your questions I should say the following:

    1. On the comment wall is better to say "everybody". It means that you apply to all members of the group. When you enter the chatroom, it is better to say "Hi, everyone". It means that you apply to each member personally.

    2. "Mother tongue" is correct but in American we say "the first language"

    3. The correct sentence is "I am sending you my "Hi!""

I am always glad to help if I am able to. However I have to say that I speak and write American English although I studied British for about 15 years when a child and a teenager. But later on American replaced it almost completely.
  • Dear Arif! The chatroom is not the best place to exchange ideas.
I recommend everyone to chat to get some experience of communication but it is not the way of improving language. The people who have joined my group really want to learn or teach. So, it is the right place and you are welcome. Here are many discussions for different tastes and, sure, you can start any new one.
  • Dear Tuan! These words are synonyms, but we do use them in difference ways.
An objective, or a goal is an end or a result toward which an effort is directed. It is what you want to accomplish.
It answers what you want to do.

Our goal is to get more low-income voters to participate in our general elections.
My goal this year is to get a better English vocabulary.

An aim is the reason, purpose or intent in doing something. It emphasizes why you want to do something.

Our aim in getting more low-income voters to vote is so they will be better represented.

My aim in getting a better English vocabulary is to communicate better.

A target specifies who or what receives the effort you exert. Or it specifically narrows down what you want to achieve.

Our target in our voting campaign is the low-income voters.
My target in getting a better English vocabulary this year is to learn 300 new words.

Practicing English

Everybody has their own methods to learn English. For the first time, I learn from songs. It is easier for me, cos it is a fun way. I learn vocabularies, grammar and idioms... and also pronounciation. Books gives me a lot of knowledge. The most difficult for me to learn is speaking cos we must have a partner to practice. We can't do it alone. I am a housewife with 3 children, and 2 of them are kids, really so hard to find partner to practice cos of my bussiness taking care of them. My husband…
