  • Thank you, dear Farid, for such great congratulation!
  • Dear Sangeeta! Happy Valentine's Day to you! Your English is rather good. You see, it is not easy for me to answer to your question about the participation of the church in this activity. I will tell you what I know. Some American Christian (Baptist) Churches have some institutions where people are taught English. However, their main idea is to attract others to their religion. I don't think it is professional teaching. Some of my students tried to attend such free lessons but they decided it is better to pay to get true knowledge. I am a scholar. I am very far from religion. I believe there is only one institution that gives good education and it is a university. As to talking with natives, I agree. The best way to master your language is to communicate with natives. On the other hand, natives don't usually correct you if they understand. They can't explain things well if they are not English teachers.

  • Dear nancy1000 you have to get out of your fear - If you stayed like that you'll be stuck their and you'll never make any progress be sure that you'll get it step by step just try and try and keep on trying just what you need is the first step
    Go ahead
  • Yes Dear Tanya Thanks I'm trying to be in touch daily so it is going on
    Thank you
  • Hi, G. Adam! Thanks for the good comment. Do you know that your English is much better now then before?
  • Hi, Nancy! G.Adam is right. It is one of the ways to overcome shyness. Your written English is good enough. So, you should try. For the beginning, it is better to talk to the people you know well. But, before you start communicating, I recommend you to talk to yourself loudly being alone. The first step is to hear what you say in a foreign language. There are a few so called barriers people have to overcome when they learn a foreign language. One of them is having fear of foreign sounds in listening and speaking. If you have problems with listening, just read what I said above. It always helps if people follow my advices. As to speaking, try to do what I recommend. You should hear yourself speaking English. Then you will not feel fear. Some people also have fear of not being understood. That is why I recommend you to start talking to the people you know who are patient enough. However, I have to say that even a horrible accent can be understood if if there is patience, good will and positive attitude.
  • Hello tanya - I think nancy 1000 is feeling fear and shy when she speaks to someone face to face and they can do that effectively through the internet using a Mic without camera it's a kind of direct and indirect communication and it will help
    Is that true ?
  • Dear Trai Pham! I will explain on the discussion "What do you want to know about English grammar"
  • Yes you are welcome we all hope to return to be baby again
  • Dear Tnya happy new year with my best wishes to you and all your group members

Practicing English

Everybody has their own methods to learn English. For the first time, I learn from songs. It is easier for me, cos it is a fun way. I learn vocabularies, grammar and idioms... and also pronounciation. Books gives me a lot of knowledge. The most difficult for me to learn is speaking cos we must have a partner to practice. We can't do it alone. I am a housewife with 3 children, and 2 of them are kids, really so hard to find partner to practice cos of my bussiness taking care of them. My husband…
