  • Sueda, I believe you've got it. We all are learners and teachers here. So, feel free asking any questions.
  • Suela! If I underline a word I mean that I emphase it, i.e. this word is of the great importance in this sentense.
  • Suela! You are right. We must remember our past and the mistakes we made. If we want to have better future for ourselves and our kids, we have to make conclusions and never allow those "bad guys" like skinheads or 9/11 terrorists to ruin our world and our lives. Thank you for your thinking so positvely. Please, stay with us!
  • Tomorrow is a memorable day of world history. On May 8, 1945 Nazi Germany capitulated in WWII. Perhaps, it was the bloodiest and the most violent war in history of the mankind. During that horrible war there were killed about 70 million people. Many cities were demolished completely and some nations were almost liquidated. All people who fought at that war fought for their land, their homes and those who were dear. Here, it is called The Great Patriotic War and it was patriotic indeed not because of communist ideology but, rather, despite it. Now, we realize quite clear that it was the bloody “chess party” played by Hitler and Stalin but because of that political trick about 25 million of Soviet people were killed and almost the same number died in the concentration camps. 10 million of 25 were Ukrainians. So, for us Victory day is a day of sorrow, grief and shame. Almost all Ukrainian families lost someone during that war. It took our country about 20 years to recover. But there are still relicts of that war. From time to time people, especially children, find old shells and mines, start playing with them and they blow up killing innocent kids. That is why it is a day of sorrow. But on the other hand, most of intelligent people of my country realize why our losses were the greatest and who was guilty. And that is why it is a day of shame. At least I feel great shame that my country was the only one which could raise such monsters like Lenin and Stalin, the greatest political adventurers, who were not better than Hitler. Actually, they were the same. However, that time the mankind united against Nazi and we won! It should be a good lesson for the future generations. If we want to save peace on the Earth, our environment, our planet we should forget about our national differences and be as one.

I wonder that many of you don’t have any idea about skinheads. They are Hitler’s followers and think that there is only one superior nation in the world, i.e. European pure white race. As to me, I hate any demonstration of racism or discrimination. If the world unites against it, we shall win like our ancestors won Nazis. Victory day is also a day of glory, too.

  • Nice information, but bad events. I know this disaster and my mother told me about it. God bless all the dead people and also alive people.
    Good to be here......
  • Hi, my friends! Today is an anniversary of the hardest Europen tragedy. 23 years have already passed but we still suffer of that disaster. Here is some information for those who don't know.

he Earth can remember the main events which have taken place in its depths and on its surface: ice ages, volcanic eruptions, meteorite falls, floods, deluges... Some of these events are usually called disasters if they destroy the stable lifestyle of humans or the animal kingdom, and lead to tragedies over vast areas. The consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear power station explosion on April 26, 1986, are related to such events. Although the exact amount of radiation released is unknown, "an estimated 260 million curies of radiation were released. This is approximately 200 times more radiation than was released by the bomb dropped on Hiroshima" (Sywenkyj, 2002, para. 1). Seventy percent of this radiation fell on Belarus. Now, 20% of its forests and 6000 square kilometers of its agricultural land are still contaminated. About 109,000 people have been relocated, but many still live in highly contaminated areas.
Many people have studied this accident, and many, many DIFFERENT facts and conclusions have been made, and the entire truth is very difficult to obtain. Only one fact is true to everyone: this was a terrible tragedy and it has affected everyone in Europe. Today is Memory day devoted to that sad event. About half million people died. Let us pay the last respect to them.
  • Dear friends! Thanks for taking part in our discussions. I'd like to say that upcoming Sunday is a great holiday for all Orthodox people. My country is Orthodox as well as Russia and Bulgaria. This Sunday is Easter and we celebrate it independently of our faith. It is tradition. Being non-religious, I'd like to say that Jeasus existed and his ideas gave the beginning to the new world philosophy. Although it might have been not his ideas. Anyway I congratulate all Christians with Easter. And we say here:"Jeasus is alive" meaning that his philosophy is alive till now. Happy holidays to all Orthodox!
  • Great to be here. May Success find you in your studies :)

Practicing English

Everybody has their own methods to learn English. For the first time, I learn from songs. It is easier for me, cos it is a fun way. I learn vocabularies, grammar and idioms... and also pronounciation. Books gives me a lot of knowledge. The most difficult for me to learn is speaking cos we must have a partner to practice. We can't do it alone. I am a housewife with 3 children, and 2 of them are kids, really so hard to find partner to practice cos of my bussiness taking care of them. My husband…
