Writing Challenge: Bloggers Unite

Why Blogging is Useful for English Learners

Blogging has many advantages for English learners. As we know, writing is an important skill for learning English and learners can improve their writing skill by blogging. When they want to transfer their thought on paper, they put words together to make sentences and whenever they got stuck for equivalent words in English, they can look them up a dictionary and find the proper words, in this way they learn more vocabulary, therefore writing blogs can help them to increase new vocabulary.

In addition, learners can learn grammatical rules while they are writing, when they want to put the words in proper order, they must study and learn grammatical rules.

Moreover, practicing writing influences on speaking skill, a learner who writes regularly, she/he can speak better than those who never write.

Furthermore, blogging encourages learners to keep on writing, because when other readers put their comments or like a blog, it gives them positive feedback.

Date & Sesame Sweet ( Kola Konji)

This is a local sweet of South West of my country, I learned how to make it from one of my friends, the recipe is easy.

Ingredients:

Dates 250g
Sesame 100g

Remove seeds from dates, roast sesame seeds in a pan on medium flame for 4 min, remove from pan and cool, then put pitted dates and sesame seeds in bowl of food processor, process the mixture until mashed, take a small amount of the mixture and form it in the shape of a ball, roll in sesame at the end.
In traditional method, pitted dates and sesame seeds were put in a wooden mortar and crushed finely until oil extract from the mixture, but it is very difficult and time-consuming.
Notes:
You can make other kinds of date truffles using different spices and nuts for different colors and flavors such as cinnamon, almonds, cashew, pistachio, walnuts etc.

Once there was a lazy man who liked to be rich. He always thought about being rich without working. One day he saw an alien in his village. He talked to him about his dream. The alien said "He knew an Island where there was a treasure", then the alien man gave the lazy man the map for finding the treasure. The next day the lazy man went to the Island and found the place of the treasure. He began to dig a hole with his knife, suddenly he saw a light shining from the hole, he was very happy and found something like diamond, he took the stone to a jewellery for selling, the jeweler  looked at it carefully and said "the value of this stone is less than a roll of toilet paper.

My English name is Cheetah, this word is of Sanskrit origin “chita” meaning spotted in Hindi language. I am the fastest land animal in the world. I’m famous for my speed, I can run 110 Km per hour……only some expensive cars such as Porsche 911 Turbo can accelerate me in speed….this amazing speed has stunned many wildlife researchers….there are two species of me, Asiatic Cheetah and African Cheetah but unfortunately my Asian generation is in danger of extinction, for this reason I’m very upset with HUMANS. They are the most dangerous enemies for me.
In the past, I lived in many parts of Asia such as India, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Iran……but now I have been disappeared from this vast continent and there are only 50 of me in Iran, Perhaps these are my last words to you and I won’t be alive in future :(
How to protect me?
I need international protection, you HUMANS must make laws to protect me.
- Do not hunt me and all hunters must be severely punished.
- Do not buy my dead body for stuffing or for my skin.

Have you ever thought of plastic pollution? Where all this plastic go?.....How much plastic garbage is produced daily?
Plastic pollution is also referred to as “ White Pollution”, that has caused serious environmental problems. Plastic garbage pollute water, soil and even air, because they don’t break down naturally in the environment and therefore continue to exist and cause damage for hundreds of years. When plastic waste thrown into the ocean, it breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces by exposure to the sun or other factors such as wave, sand action……those small particles contain toxic substances such as PCBs that are very harmful and eaten by marine animals, and then passed up humans through seafood. When tons of plastic garbage buried under the earth, again they are fragmented into smaller and smaller pieces, reaching microscopic size over time, remain everywhere and are almost impossible to clean up. They are light enough to be scattered by wind into the air and water and then absorbed by human body through breathing or eating.
Now, we can see how big is the problem…..but what should we do…..?
The best thing we can do is to reduce plastic consumption. Do you know that approximately 500 billion plastic bags are used worldwide annually? In other words, more than one million plastic bags are used every minute. We must take some action or we may drown in an ocean of plastics.

How to reduce plastic consumption:
Here, I wrote 3 ways to avoid excessive use of plastics, you can add it.

1. Don’t throw away a plastic bag after a single use, wash and reuse it several times.
2. Don’t use disposable plastic dishes, instead use metal or glass dishes.
3. Carry your to-go mug in your purse avoid using foam cups.

I am from Iran and I like to write about the nomads of Iran because their homeland is nature, Have you ever thought about living in NATURE. It is very hard but wonderful. Nomads of Iran should live in coordination with nature; because they are mostly shepherds depending on the livestock for their livelihood…..They have winter and summer homes and migrate twice per year. These migrating pastoralists move to the warmer places in early autumn and again move to the cooler pastures when spring comes. …Nomadic life is pretty amazing for the people living in the 21st century…..They live in the tents made from the sheep wool woven by women….they produce their own food from the livestock.
If you go and visit them up close, you’ll be attracted by women and girls milking and wool spinning and men putting out the sheep to the pasture…..the tinkling of the sheep bells, horses nicker and roosters crowing sound beautiful and play the harmonious symphony of LOVE and SACRIFICE.

My friend has a dog called Toby.

Toby is sensitive to cats……Last week, my friend decided to go on a trip, so she left Toby to me, because we have a big yard, when I brought Toby to the yard, he sat calmly at one corner…..after a short time, the bell rang, it was another friend with a kitten asking me to keep her kitten while she was on trip, she told that her kitten ( Pishi) liked to tease dogs and for this, I must keep Pishi away from the dogs…..As soon as I brought Pishi into the yard, she began mewing at Toby and made him furious, Toby began chasing Pishi too….
At last I was forced to tie Toby to some fences around the yard in order not to hurt the little kitten.

A Lazy Friend

A few months ago, one of my friends who is very lazy invited me for lunch; but it was such a bad party that I said to myself, I would never accept any invitation from her.

Actually, I am a hospitable person and I used to invite this friend a lot and receive her very well, but when I was her guest, the lunch was served at 4:00 PM. 

I thought to myself, how nice it was if I would teach her a good lesson, it was a good idea if I would invite her to dinner then I would give her a simple dinner at midnight.

For the menu, I would serve just cucumber-yogurt appetizer with bread and if the dinner table would be set at midnight then she would have understood how bad she treated me at her party.

For the discussion, I would like to ask her, “ What is the good time for eating lunch, especially in a party?!!!” Surely, she would answer: “ It is good to eat lunch between 12:00 to 1:00 PM.
And my second question would be “What are the preparations before inviting a guest? I would try to teach her that before inviting a guest it is better to plan for the party, to buy the ingredients for the food the day before, get up early in the morning and not to be lazy in cooking.

Cucumber-yogurt Appetizer

If you like to try it, here is the recipe:

First, wash some cucumbers and grate them in a bowl then add some yogurt and decorate it with spearmint if you like, It is good for hot weather.

The sun of my life

Father!
I picked this flower for you.
It was growing gently in the heart of a rock.
Father, I don’t know how the sun patted it with her golden hair,
Did she pat it, in the way you pat me with your hands?
My father!
I picked this flower from the foothills for you.
It’s not red, it isn’t fragrant too,
Because its root got no portion from the hard rock except bitterness.
Father! When I was picking it, I told her:
“ You beautiful flower! Perhaps your destiny was to be picked by me,
And be offered to the sun of my life,
So that he can put you on his heart that is deeper than a valley.
I presented you to him, to be faded on his kind chest.
Perhaps you wished, to be faded by the breeze,
Or to join the ocean by the river waves”
But……..but instead of the sea, I gave you to the hands of the best and most tired father.

4. A real joke about myself

Yesterday, I was very tired and nervous and I wanted to go out, but I couldn't find my cellphone. I thought it was better to ring my cellphone and found it from the ringing sound. I dialed my number, a cellphone near the telephone began to ring, I took the cell and said: " hello", but no one answered.
Again I dialed my number and that cellphone was ringing again and no answer came. This happened for me five times. I was very angry and asked myself why this bothering person didn't talk, I shouted at the cellphone: " Why don't you talk? " but I was very surprised when I heard my voice coming back to me. I looked at the cell and found it was my cellphone :D :D
I expected to find it in another room, but it was near me.

I wonder how Nawaz sharif can sleep while Pakistan borders are a safe haven for terrorists,
Five Iranian border guards were abducted on February 6, 2013 and taken to Pakistan territory. The so- called Jaish al-adl terrorist group claimed responsibility for the abductions. The group said on its website that it had killed one of the border guards, and they are going to kill the others. After killing of this innocent Iranian soldier, Nawaz Sharif just said " We condemn this terrorist act"

2-- A bothering old woman

Hi friends!

In my previous blog, I wrote about a man bothering my friend Negin; but this time I'm writing about an old woman bothering her. Negin was at home, it was almost 12:30 p.m, someone rang, it was an old woman.

The old woman: "I'm very thirsty, would you please bring me a glass of water?"

Negin: " Sure, come in please."

The old woman: " Oh, I'm too hungry to walk, how can I go to my house in village?"

Negin: Don't worry, I'll bring you some food."

After having lunch, the old woman said: " I'm so tired, can I rest here for a short time and then go to my house in the village."

Negin: " All right."

It was about 4:00 p.m., and the old woman was still sleeping, Negin and her husband wanted to go out for shopping, Negin's husband said: " Go and wake the old woman up."

Negin called: " Dear aunt, please wake up , it's 4:00 in the afternoon.

The old woman: " I'm still so tired and I like to sleep more."

Negin: " If you don't leave, I'll call the police."

The old woman: " The police can do nothing with me."

Negin asked her husband " What can we do?"

Her husband:" You take her to the house, and you must let her out by yourself."

Negin thought it was better to ask one of the neighbors for help, and at last she with the help of a female neighbor took the old woman and threw her out of the house.

1-- A bothering man

Unfortunately, there are always rude men who enjoy bothering women, such a thing happened to my friend, " Negin " who is a dressmaker. A few days ago I went to her dressmaking to visit her. She told me about a very rude man that was bothering her. Negin said she was busy with sewing that noticed a young man came in.

The young man asked: " Would you repair pants?"

Negin answered: " Of course, I do. Give me the pants, please.

The man answered: "The pants which I'm wearing need to be repaired".

Negin looked at him but said nothing.

The man asked rudely: " Can I change my pants here, please?"

Negin said angrily: " As you see, I haven't any pants to give you to wear, I just have skirts."

The man asked rudely again: " Would you give me a skirt to wear and repair my pants, please?"

Negin shouted: " leave here immediately or I'll call the police"
