Hello! I added this discussion because of Modaway's idea to post a song from our country and translate the words in English.

This song is very successful and loved by people here in Greece. The singers, Eleonora Zouganeli and Kostas Livadas, are very notable artists. They write and sing quality songs and it worths to go and see them to sing.

Here is the linκ with the song:

And here are the lyrics in English:

Your persistence

If there is something that won me over in you,
something that knew how to surpass me,
it is your this persistence, my love.
A love that learned how not to give up.

If there is something that told me to choose,
it ιs neither your words nor your beauty.
But your thιs wonderful, crazy persistence,
that it is a pity for us to live apart.

Oh, if only you knew what strength that your strength gives me,
when you say that everything will be ok and I hear your voice.
When you say that everything will be ok and I hear your voice,
oh, if only you knew what strength that your strength gives me.

If there is something that kept me away from foreign lands,
it is this light that doesn't exist in other land.
And this same persistence of you, my love,
to share these clouds together,
to share this sea together.

Oh, if only you knew what strength that your strength gives me,
when you say that everything will be ok and I hear your voice.
When you say that everything will be ok and I hear your voice,
oh, if only you knew what strength that your strength gives me.

If only you knew how much your endless sweetness attracts me,
tο walk by your side with courage in life.
This endless thirst of you for the unknown of life,
if only you knew and could imagine what it has given me.
My crazy love, don't ever get tired of longing for me.

When you say that everything will be ok and I hear your voice,
oh, if only you knew what strength that your strength gives me.

Your persistence...

  • Thanks Modaway!

  • Danny what do you mean when you say that such music being this summer in my country? Greek music has its own roots and in some big part it has been influenced by Turkish music because Greece was under the Turkish regime for 400 years. Turks and Greeks were living together and we got some things from them and they got some things from us in music, foods, and other things. And in some big part, yes, it has been influenced by Arabian music and this is the belly dance music. Demis Roussos was very famous, no doubt that you know him.

    • Hi, my dear friend Elen! I think I have to make myself clear as you seem not to have understood the first phrase in my comment. I meant, I hadn't heard much of Greek music except Demis Roussos before I came to Greece last summer. I know some of World history and a little about Ottoman Empire. So, it is not strange for me that your music and culture were and still are influenced by Turks, it is just natural. Same about my wife's country, Ukraine. It was under the Russian influence for about 400 years and it would be really strange to expect such countries not to take something good or bad from their invaders and vice versa. I just meant that Greek music is so very special! The inordinary combination of Europen and Arabic motives and tunes makes it sound great and makes us remember about our roots! Greece gave the beginning to the European civilization and I hope that the next generations will not forget about that! Thanks for the music and take my apologies for not being understood!

    • Hello Danny, sorry for my late reply. No, don't apologize, i didn't understand but now understand what you wanted to say. I think this happens in other countries too, i don't know. But maybe in Greece is a little more obvious. I am sorry, but i don't have much knowledge about this topic to answer you. Thanks for your beautiful comment and picture :)

    • Thanks for understanding!

      Always at your service!

  • A nice song, Elen! I heard such music being in your country this last summer. I don't want to offend anyone here, but I'd like to ask if you agree that Greek music is influenced by Arabic staying European at the same time. The only one famous Greek singer I know is Demis Roussos. He was very good! I have a few of his original disks. I hope he got to many Western souls. Thanks for posting your music!

  • Thank you Sarojini!
