My dear friends! I was out of the activities here not because I forgot about this great group. My wife and I started teaching in the EC and it takes us much time to answer all learners. But this morning my wife left for another town on her business  and I immediately recalled Freddie's " You left me to greave all alone". So, today I will remind you of the best group and the best voice of the 20th century. They are THE QUEEN and FREDDIE MERCURY. I am sure, you all have heard them. Their 1975 album, a NIGHT at the OPERA, made them so very famous all over the world! Freddie's Bohemian Rhapsody told us about the problems of our society in such a great way! All his songs are so emotional and full of common sense. When I listen to his music, I can't help admiring it! If you ask whether I approve or condenm his lifestyle, I will tell you  that geniouses should be judged by the next generations. Such outstanding people can't be blamed! Their music is everlasting!  We all are not perfect and let others judge!

I am sure you all know "We are the champions", "Show must go on" and many other songs still inspiring many people. There have always been, are and will be very good singers and bands but only a few of them will never be forgotten. So,let's just listen to this great music!

So, we will start with  Bohemian Rhapsody

The lyrics:

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide,
No escape from reality.

Open your eyes,
Look up to the skies and see,
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy,
Because I'm easy come, easy go,
Little high, little low,
Anyway the wind blows doesn't really matter to me, to me.

Mama, just killed a man,
Put a gun against his head,
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead.
Mama, life had just begun,
But now I've gone and thrown it all away.

Mama, ooh,
Didn't mean to make you cry,
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow,
Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters.

Too late, my time has come,
Sent shivers down my spine,
Body's aching all the time.
Goodbye, everybody, I've got to go,
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth.

Mama, ooh (anyway the wind blows),
I don't wanna die,
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all.

I see a little silhouetto of a man,
Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango?
Thunderbolt and lightning,
Very, very frightening me.
(Galileo) Galileo.
(Galileo) Galileo,
Galileo Figaro
Magnifico.

I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me.
He's just a poor boy from a poor family,
Spare him his life from this monstrosity.

Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?
Bismillah! No, we will not let you go. (Let him go!)
Bismillah! We will not let you go. (Let him go!)
Bismillah! We will not let you go. (Let me go!)
Will not let you go. (Let me go!)
Never, never let you go
Never let me go, oh.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Oh, mama mia, mama mia (Mama mia, let me go.)
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for me.

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye?
So you think you can love me and leave me to die?
Oh, baby, can't do this to me, baby,
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here.

(Oh, yeah, oh yeah)

Nothing really matters,
Anyone can see,
Nothing really matters,
Nothing really matters to me.

Anyway the wind blows.

Here is "We are the champions"
Lyrics:
I've paid my dues
Time after time.
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime.
And bad mistakes ‒
I've made a few.
I've had my share of sand kicked in my face
But I've come through.

(And I need just go on and on, and on, and on)

We are the champions, my friends,
And we'll keep on fighting 'til the end.
We are the champions.
We are the champions.
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions of the world.

I've taken my bows
And my curtain calls
You brought me fame and fortune and everything that goes with it
I thank you all

But it's been no bed of roses,
No pleasure cruise.
I consider it a challenge before the whole human race
And I ain't gonna lose.

(And I need just go on and on, and on, and on)

We are the champions, my friends,
And we'll keep on fighting 'til the end.
We are the champions.
We are the champions.
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions of the world.

We are the champions, my friends,
And we'll keep on fighting 'til the end.
We are the champions.
We are the champions.
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions.
The next to come is "Show must go on". You may know that Freddie wrote this song already knowing he was dying  and he died on the stage singing it as if he had wanted to say "Never give up!"
Lyrics:
Empty spaces - what are we living for
Abandoned places - I guess we know the score
On and on, does anybody know what we are looking for...
Another hero, another mindless crime
Behind the curtain, in the pantomime
Hold the line, does anybody want to take it anymore
The show must go on,
The show must go on
Inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on.
Whatever happens, I'll leave it all to chance
Another heartache, another failed romance
On and on, does anybody know what we are living for?
I guess I'm learning, I must be warmer now
I'll soon be turning, round the corner now
Outside the dawn is breaking
But inside in the dark I'm aching to be free
The show must go on
The show must go on
Inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairytales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly - my friends
The show must go on
The show must go on
I'll face it with a grin
I'm never giving in
On - with the show -
I'll top the bill, I'll overkill
I have to find the will to carry on
On with the -
On with the show -
The show must go on...

I'd also like to post "The Great Pretender" as it is about me, ha-ha!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLRjFWDGs1g

The lyrics:

Oh oh, yes I'm the great pretender
Pretending that I'm doing well
My need is such I pretend too much
I'm lonely but no one can tell

Oh oh, yes I'm the great pretender
Adrift in a world of my own
I've played the game but to my real shame
You've left me to grieve all alone

Too real is this feeling of make believe
Too real when I feel what my heart can't conceal

Yes I'm the great pretender
Just laughin' and gay like a clown
I seem to be what I'm not, you see
I'm wearing my heart like a crown
Pretending that you're still around

Too real is this feeling of make believe
Too real when I feel what my heart can't conceal

Yes I'm the great pretender
Just laughin' and gay like the clown
I seem to be what I'm not, you see
I'm wearing my heart like a crown
Pretending that you're still around
(Still around)

And one more song I dedicate to all ladies! It is "I was born to love you" (MY BIG SMILE, ladies! But I do love you all!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNhhAEupU4g

Lyrics:

I was born to love you
With every single beat of my heart
Yes, I was born to take care of you
Every single day...

[chorus:]
I was born to love you
With every single beat of my heart
Yes, I was born to take care of you
Every single day of my life

You are the one for me
I am the man for you
You were made for me
You're my ecstasy
If I was given every opportunity
I'd kill for your love

So take a chance with me
Let me romance with you
I'm caught in a dream
And my dream's come true
It's so hard to believe
This is happening to me
An amazing feeling
Comin' through

[chorus]

I wanna love you
I love every little thing about you
I wanna love you, love you, love you
Born - to love you
Born - to love you
Yes I was born to love you
Born - to love you
Born - to love you
Every single day - of my life

An amazing feeling
Coming through

[chorus]

Yes I was born to love you
Every single day of my life

Go, I love you babe
Yes I was born to love you
I wanna love you, love you, love you
I wanna love you
I get so lonely, lonely, lonely
Yeah, I want to love you
Yeah, give it to me

I don't know if I have to add anything, but I will. This post is like a requiem to the greatest artist, musician and poet of the 20th century who dared to say what he felt and to live his life. Freddie sang about his feeelings and he was and  is still heard. His greatest song is like his last will "Show must go on!". Our life is a great show!

I hope, the last song will improve your attitude to my comments  as it is so good!

Enjoy the greatest singer I have ever heard!

  • Thanks a lot! But is there really anyone who can stop you? LOL!

    • hahahhaha yeah, right XD

  • Thanks a lot, dear Mary! I agree with all your three theories! I, too, like to start my day with music.

  • I like Show Must Go On from since being 6-7 years old. But I had no idea, what is English, so I just used to sing what I hear (as always xD ), "Sho-mas-go-o"

And the same thing with "We Are The Champions". That time I started to lead the goats to graze inside the forest. And at the same time me and my friends, we used to play with a ball on that small field of grass, right in front of the forest. And the neighbors used to play Queen on their tape player. And we all together used to sing along with Freddie Mercury. And in the moment of chorus it was like something absolutely great! I can't express... each of us used to think, that we are the champions of the world! :D

    • Thanks, Roman! Yes, Queen's music sounds cheerful and convincing!

  • Btw, here I add another song to your list, one of my fav :)

(and another song I love to sing and perform when nobody is watching! haha)

  • Danny, I've been at least 2 weeks listening to Queen in my car and is a cool thing to start the day going to work while singing Bohemian Rhapsody' out loud ' haha (good thing nobody can hear me!) :D

I've three theories about Queen: One is that Bohemian Rhapsody is probably one of the most perfect popular songs ever made. Second is that i think there's NOBODY who doesn't like at least one song by Queen. Everybody likes Queen! They made rock music, pop music, opera-rock music, rockabilly music... all kind of genres! And my third theory is what you just said in the title of this post: Mercury was definitely the best voice of the last century.

Thanks for this nice tribute to Freddie Mercury and for playing some Queen music in EC! ^_^

  • Dear Modaway! I am really sorry that our music sounds wrong for this generation. Freddie was one of the best! Thank you!

  • Darling! What a great topic! You posted my favorite songs! Freddie was unbelievable! Our generation will never forget him and the Queen. Thank you so much! It is a very pleasant surprise! From now on, I will leave you alone more often! Ha-ha!
