  • I consider that modern kid should be allowed to use a mobile phone at school, but it mustn't be disruptive.

  • Hello once again dear  Mishaikh, can you help me with this word "opined", from your reply to me, or is a typing error ?

  • Very appropriately opined Molemane.  Thanks.

  • Thank you dear Mishaikh for the topic.

I think use of cellphone in Schools and during school lessons should not  be allowed, those with cellphones should switch them off and phones only be  used  after school or during tea and lunch breaks. But anyway, thanks for this discussion, it is very important.

  • Onee thanks for your detailed comment to the topic.
  • I would say kids (especially in grade 1 to 9) should be prohibited to bring the phone at school. -_-

I've seen the difference between students who like playing phone and who are not interested in phone.

The ones who are engaged with the phone mostly cannot focus on their study. It's really hard to talk with them. They are not curious with knowledge at all. How can they improve in this way? It's not bad (or good for sometimes) if game is the thing that they are interested in, but what about children in Grade 6 are interested in Social Media? -_- Kids should learn so many things they really haven't understood in life. Counting the fee for shopping just a little matter they would face, like Zivi and Mishaikh's comment. In brief, that is not the time yet for them to use phone, especially when they are studying. Both in school or tuition. -_-

Otherwise, the ones who aren't engaged with phones can concentrate more on their study. They are curious about anything, they ask questions, they are easy to listen to the teacher. I know that some students know the limit. They bring the phone, but keep it in the bag until the lesson end. But, the students who understand this are very few. So, it is better to forbid them.

Kids will be kids. Often, they don't know that something is bad for them. We, older ones can give them understanding, not just give them what they want. It is better playing with friends in the school learning so many things and creating real memory than focusing eyes on the screen at their age.

Best wishes for children and the future generation.

Thank you for your great discussion, Mishaikh.

  • Zivi:

It is a fact that use of electronic calculator even for simple plus-minus affect math IQ.  Once my sister went shopping at a store in London, when she went at the counter and made the payment for her shopping the calculating machine of the attendant was not working, and she looked confused what to refund in change.  My sister looking her confused prompted her the exact amount to give in change. The attendant was shocked to know, but didn't believe, she went to one of colleagues on the other counter and used her calculating machine to ascertain the amount to give back, and further shocked that machine told the exact same amount which my sister told her by her brain calculating.

  • This question reminds me bit of a former question about electrical calculators. OLd fashions ppl complained kids would not longer be able to solve maths issues in their brains or on a piece of paper. to a huge content those ppl have been right. On the other hand those ppl grown up with electrical calculators have learned to handle how to come much faster to results by using them electrical calculators. Nowadays noone cares any more about electrical calculators. they are parts of our lifes.
Eventhough you seem need maths exper´s skills to solve simple equations in your brains or on a piece of paper nowadays,
  •  You are right Luci, it's hard enough to get children to listen to the teacher and pay attention to the book. I think the phone should be kept in the school bag or not allowed at all.
