Alberto Santos Dumont ( July 20, 1873 - July 23, 1932)

Santos Dumont was regarded as the first man to design, build and fly on a irship driven by gasoline. This achievement was ensured by the conquest of the Deustch Prize  in 1901, when he took a walk around the Eiffel Tower onboard your Airship n° 6. He was not only a inventor but also a sportsman and aeronaut . As aeronaut was attributed to him the first takeoff in a airplane fed by gasoline. This happened on October 23, 1906 in the Bagatelle Field, in Paris. All his flights were ratified by the France Aeroclub as the first ones of equipments heavier than air, in public appearances. Even though, lot of discussion was caught around the first flight of history, the truth is the International Aeronautic Federation see as the first figurehead of aviation the Wright Brothers. On the other hand the Dumont's airplane 14-Bis was recognised officially by public and journalists as the first sporting aeronautic activity to be homologated by International Aeronautic Federation. Dumont died in 1932 at the age of 50 years old in the city of Guarujá, São Paulo, Brazil.
