Writing Prompt: House Vs. Home

Writing Prompt ~ House Vs. Home

Dear Jono,

I want to tell you that I just rented a medium house in the surrounds of Paris, capital of France. At first, it seems to be a comfortable house to live, because the street is quiet and green and has few high buildings, the neighbourhood seems likeable and the house is just painted and has  brand new pieces of furniture. Moreover, I brought my little cat Paavo to liven my home up when I feel it is too silent over here. You know, I like to arrange cheerful home meetings with my closest friends so that we can do some catching up. So,if you want to take part in my house  inauguration little party, you can visit me on Saturday at 5 PM local time. I promise I will turn my home into a point for the freshest French music hits that meeting. To conclude, I am very happy not just because I have a new house but, because I have a new home.

Come and visit soon,

Daniel

  • I love how you ended this piece! Great writing. Your writing is improving with each blog post.

Note: The word "furniture" is not countable. You can say "a piece of furniture" if you want to refer to one item such as a couch. Normally, you would just say "furniture" (without "a").

  • Also a home can be a tent, a yurt, a cave, an apartment (flat for British) or any place that a person lives. So, if someone says I'm going home, it may not be the kind of place you would expect. Good blog. Thanks for sharing.

  • For me, a home always exude warmth and familiarity, whereas a house is just a place where you spend your sleeping hours. So, the saying of 'home where the heart is' really portrayed this.
