Writing Prompt ~ Directions

Hi Thomas,

Welcome to South America. Probably this will be your first time in the south of  American continent. I hope you don't be scared with the crazy heatwave that is passing by Brazil this season. You know, temperature is reaching + 40 degrees Celsius in some cities. By the way, Brazil has 5 main geographical areas, namely: North, Northeast, Midwest, Southeast and South. What region do you want to know first? Tell me before you coming, so that I can arrange a comprehensive route for you, including all the main touristic points. I advise you to start going to Northeast coastline if you enjoy wonderful beaches. On the other hand, if you enjoy urban life it's better start visiting  Southeast region first, where is placed the two biggest cities of Brazil: Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Amazonia rain forest  is in the north of Brazil. There, you can start visiting the capital city of Amazonas province, Manaus. Amazonia is a really breathtaking place for eco-friendly visitants, although is increasingly suffering  with deforestation every year. Lastly, South region, where you'll find the best cities for living in Brazil. This region got  a few centuries ago waves of European immigrants , specially Italians, Germans and Polishs, which make this local has a particular culture. I live northeastern Brazil, in a city that is located 600 km above sea level. Here, we have a good climate, even though in summer we  face hot temperatures about 35 degrees Celsius. I'm awaiting for you, and know you're welcomed in my house whenever you want to come.

See you soon!

Daniel

  • Awesome writing, Daniel, and fantastic suggestions, Expector. I wish it were 40 degrees Celsius here!

  • Great use of the "compass points".

Try to fix these two sentences:

    1. "This region got a few centuries ago waves of European immigrants , specially Italians, Germans and Polishs, what make this local has a particular culture. " - Be careful that you need a relative pronoun instead of "what" in the non-identifying relative clause.

    2. "I live northeast Brazil, in a city that is located 600 km above sea level. " - Tips: You could use "northeastern" instead of "northeast", for example, "I live in northeastern Brazil."
