Unique Love

Warda, a new member of MyEC, (have been my virtual sweet daughter since long from the other forum) commented on my blog 'Selfless Love" and mentioned about her neighboring couple's love.  With her permission I used the facts of the couple's love to build this story.  So I hereby attribute this story to Warda:

Unique Love

The aspects of love are very strange, sometimes one person seeks for it, but could not find.  On the other hand, sometimes, it falls in to one’s lap like ripe apple.  There are couples who become under wedlock because of family obligations, but there is no love as the ‘love’ is considered in itself.  It is also seen that because of some untoward hardship of life one of the couple (lovers) become under test of their love. I happened to be acquainted with one of such couple. They were our neighbors.  The couple was leading their life happily.  They both loved each other very much.

Then hardship fell upon them.  Unfortunately, the husband got paralyzed due to some disease and confined to bed.  It was the time when they have already got the major part of their life passed and now in old age. All the kids were grown up, married and settled abroad.  He became totally unable to move without help. And the old lady, his beloved wife was there to help him.   She was always there for him.  She took care of him always. She loved him so much that she confined herself to the house  so that she would be there when her husband needed her.  She just go out when it was extremely necessary.  She fed, him, toweled him, kept his room neat and clean.

By the time his condition got worse.  He started to forgetting people. But it was surprising his wife was never wiped out from his memory.  He used to call her by name when he could not remember the names of the other closed ones. He knew very well that she was his life partner. His life companion, whereas for other closed ones (relatives who visited him time to time) he got confused who they were.

I also used to visit him, and try to relieve him by making jokes.  Once I said to him, “Uncle I heard you have a granddaughter who resembled your wife.”  He said, “No my wife is prettier than her, she is the prettiest of them all.”

Once he was in ICU, he always asked of the doctor or the nurse about his wife, who had to be outside the room.  When relative visited him in the hospital, he asked about his wife, and when told that she is outside and will come soon, then he got calm.  His wife stayed up on nights to take care of him, to look after him.  He was well aware of her presence and asked her to get some rest.

When he was on his death bed. It was his time to depart.  She was beside him. He was holding her hand. She stayed up all night to be with him to see the love of her life dying slowly and painfully before her eyes.

He passed away in the hospital at the age of 70+.

When I met his wife. She said in Arabic to me in a poetic way:

” Those were the days of bliss I have lived with him, and now he left me alone with his memories.”

That was the unique couple, and their love was unique, too.

  • Thanks saba.  Yes it is.  Sometimes it uniquely happens.

  • Yes, their love was unique. The more two lovers live together, the more they love each other and separation is more difficult.
  • Thanks Eva for the nice comment.

This story based on real facts, as Warda said, they were her neighbours.

It means that such real bonds of relationship still exist.

  • Thank you for sharing this beautiful story, Mishaikh

  • Mishaikh,

I think the most saddest, saddest thing on this entire world must be, to people living together for some reason and there are just no love, no caring feelings, no compassion, but they live together, because of obligations not towards themselves but towards everyone else around them.

And those people around them, how can they be so blindfolded and self centered, are they not able to see the unhappiness in their eyes. I find it sad.

Those story as your wrote above gives prove of a strong relationship, biased on mutual respect, trust, compassion, love.

I do not believe such relationships is in the faith of and every person vouchsafed.

Thank you so much, Mishaikh, for sharing such moving story.

  • Thanks a lot Rose for your consideration.  I am indebted you commented again.

  • Mishaikh, don't worry, please, mistakes happen. I don't have any bad feelings towards you.

Unfortunately, I don't remember my words which I had written in my comment. Always, when I read your stories, new thoughts and feelings come into my mind.

So my new comment will be different from the previous. Please excuse my bad memory.

Your story is an example of sincere love. It's a love like carved in stone. Nothing and nobody can delete it. Neither the extinction of the mind's consciousness nor the time can harm this love.
It's love even until after the death.
Love is a precious gift, given from heart to heart. Love isn't self-evident and also not guaranteed to remain forever. Love grows with us and changes. Each age defines love new.

Thanks for sharing this touching story, Mishaikh.

  • Yes, it is! :)

  • Yes it does, Dara. Thanks for your unique styled comment.
