Short Story Challenge: Couch Potato Aliens

Gareth was organizing toilet papers at his job when suddenly he saw a powerful oval light approaching the supermarket entrance.

"Oh God, what's this?" he asked eagerly.

Then, he hears a strong intergalactic voice coming from the flying saucer says to him:

"Hello human! Don't worry, we don't have time to torture you or destroy your civilisation! Me and my friends are just in a hurry to find a comfortable sofa to watch the final match of Champions league, you know, in our distant K-12 planet the tv signal transmission is not always working," the weird creature said.

"Really?! I coudn't imagine you were football fans like me too," Gareth said.

" Do you know a cheap place with sofas and tv sets to hire for a few hours?" the spokesman alien asked.

"Of course, I hire sofas and TVs for outerspace tourists like you for a good price every week, just $74 dollars," Gareth said excitedly.

"Could you take us there?" the extraterrestrial creature asked.

"Just go straight and then turn right and you'll see a beautiful shop on an island with cosy sofas and huge hi-tech TV sets. You can help yourselves at no cost with barbecue. Just grab a knife to cut the steak," Gareth said.

  •  Thanks a lot teacher! You're like a guide for me. See you!

  • Now it's perfectly punctuated!

By the way, we say an island, not a island........

  • Thanks again teacher Anele!

  • punctuation marks are comma, period, question mark, quotation mark, hypen, exlamatory point, colon, semicolon.......

  • By the way.......when I said "punctuation marks", I mean "quotation marks".   sorry!

  • OMG.......Daniel, there are already three punctuations in your sentence.  If you used "question mark" don't add "comma" anymore.

2390654080?profile=originalincorrect:  "Oh God, what's this?", he asked eagerly

correct: "Oh God, what's this?" he asked eagerly

    **********

Please don't use the "period" when the sentence is not yet at full stop.  Instead use the "comma".

    These are incorrect:

    2390654027?profile=originalThey should be written as:

2390654116?profile=originalDid you see where I put the commas?

  • For example: you see a question mark and should you put the comma before or after it?

  • By the way the comma should be placed inside character's discourse or outside it?

  • Am I on the right path now Anele?

  • When using a subject pronoun, it should come first.

         incorrect:  asked he.

         correct:  he asked.
