Mr. Jamal and his nice flowers.

Searching for an illusion is the most hurt disappointment in man's life. when the feeling occupies a mind of human being , and becomes as a part of his life , case like this takes many names ,it might be called madness , oddness , eccentricity or even sincerity .

Mr. Jamal is a smart elegant gentleman . He spent three lovely year with his beautiful friend .One day she went to visit her relatives abroad ,promised her friend that she would come next month , but she has mysteriously vanished and has not come yet. one month later after her vanished, Mr. Jamal waited for her return patiently in the airport lounge .In every morning he dressed in his nice suit , carried a package of flowers[which his friend liked it ] , sit in a same seat with his cigarette, blew gets of smock from his mouth and nostril Whenever he heard a noise of plane , he rose up , glanced up at sky ,his eyes lighted up curiously waiting for the arrival of his wife eagerly ,then he sit back again in his seat , feeling terribly sad , Pay no attention for a mock of callous people . Every evening he comes back home with his faint flowers, looks for another day to do the same .

His flowers are faded by the time , but his heart still fresh in spite of many times of his waiting .Sometime I feel a twinge of envy at his patience , which is rare to find in other men .Seeing Mr. Jamal in every single day evoke the memories of missing our lovers .I have not known yet ,why I see much in common between Mr. Jamal and me. both of us are searching for an illusion.

  • Hello Anele , How I wish I have an ability to comment like this comment of you .Wow ..you have amazing vision with rare style of writing !

Yes ,I agree with you , Jamal’s strength and his happiness lie in his anticipation that someday his friend will be back! He always waits the moments of meeting , for sure , his happiness lurks between these moments .
Do you read the play :Waiting For Godet by Becket ? I read it many times . It is primarily about hope .The play revolves around two main characters, and their pitiful wait for hope to arrive , hope is constructed as form of salvation

But… a long waiting make hearts cruel ,it become step by step dry and emotionless . this why Jamal is afraid of long waiting .

My answer to your question is , Jamal and me are alike( = Jamal and me are two sides of same coin ) .I have read this English expression in Oxford Dictionary .
Thank you dear for your comment ,it always blesses my page .

  • Hi Anele , Sometimes an illusion is an adequate way to meet the human needs , because the facts are hard to be excepted .It is easy to say that an illusion is a very necessary for Mr. Jamal

What do you think , Does he feel glad during his waiting ? I say no he is not glad . To gain a fuller understanding of how does Jamal feel when he waits, you should see his face during his waiting .He is tired and sad ,but the pleasurable moment of meeting with his friend will compensate him for his sadness and waiting .

The fact known by anyone who has read this blog is Jamal and me are two sides of same coin .
I hope that Jamal’s friend thinks the same way ,too.
Thanks for reading my blog .

  • Hi Hala , you have so pure and astounding analysis dear. we can see that Jamal considers his illusion is better than the disillusion .the disillusion is depended on reality. Mr. Jamal does not believe the bitterness of his friend’s absence the disillusion means to him to give up and end his waiting for his friend, he afraid of aloneness .

I have read this saying “We're born alone, we live alone, we die alone. Only through our love and friendship can we create the illusion for the moment that we're not alone.” Orson Welles .

In other hand ,we see some people consider romantic love is just an illusion. Because later on the love is fade and they face endless problems. Even colorful flowers (as a symbol of love ) are fade by time , because this is best example for the nature of life.

your contribution and efforts have improved many learners especially me. You have not failed to seize any an opportunity to encourage me.thanks so much dear.

  • We sometimes like to live in our own illusion because we can see it better than reality ,we can see the love that we haven't found it in our real life ,the feeling that we want to live it and not what we have it ,we can see sometimes that the illusion is better than the disillusion  and we create our own world and live in it because we don't want to believe the  hard reality around us specially the loss of our love .

Jamal is  representing the conflict inside any person between illusion and reality ,he knows the reality but doesn't want to believe it ,so he prefers to wait and wait ...and keep his true feeling alive  .Although the flowers faded in his hand ,but his love doesn 't fade ....

Thank you for the meaningful blog, you have the ability to write about different stories which can reflect the experiences of human beings in general.Keep it up!

  • Hi Galina , only infinite love is true . I absolutely agree with this conception .I also add that when a man comes under the influence of love he would do infinite good things .he would donate willingly all his own precious things , and that makes some people mock this man , because they do not know the meaning of true love or the language of flowers .they have their conception of life . they are normally considered as practical people .
But , I personally admire Mr. Jamal too , seeing him in every day waits ,this sight strikes a deep core of discontent ,and cast a shadow of sadness over me.
Your precious comment greases my blog makes it more valuable .thank you my dear friend .

  • Oh Irina ! What amazing comment dear ! using waves of sea is impressive metaphor . I have read two poems for different poets , both of them use waves of sea to describe life. Arnold Mathew in his poem Dover Beach and Alfred Tennyson in his great poem A crossing The Bar .

No doubt , you have loved sea deeply and you work there. It is seemed certain that the sea , and its waves are inspiring you by so nice and wise view of love and life . you have creative imagination to depict such nice view.

Thank you my dear friend for sharing me your nice comment.

  • Wow! Marvellous! Tawfeeq, your short essay evokes so many different thoughts and ideas. I think it depends on our attitude to this or that situation in our life. At  first I remembered the famous saying that only infinite love is true, all other things are an illusion. I think most of the women simply admire Mr. Jamal for his true feeling. And those flowers....it sounds so romantic. But other people ( I think more practical) have an opinion that love is like magic and magic most of the time is an illusion.

Both groups of people are right and both are searching for an illusion. I think illusions are inseparable part of our life ( the belief in miracles). It would be very boring to live without them. They give our life some flavour, some colour. Tawfeeq, I simply fell in love with that Mr. Jamal with his faded flowers..... a nice story. You're really so talented!

  • Tawfeeq!!! I read  and reread several times..)

I'd like to imagine the illusion as wave! The wave is born in the sea and never separate from the sea. The person is pleasant sometimes to live by illusions. The wave changes during its travel and finally reaches the shore where it dissolves and returns again to the sea ready to be part of the next wave. It's the same as a person . We are born of the universe. We grow. We live our lives . We always a part of somebody and something.

     Thank you for sharing !!!!
