Farewell My Leaves

What a pity leaves they are!! they
are falling from their tree now.
What a nice falling down it is!
Swinging …..swinging
it is slightly shifting in between the space of life and death, as if it is a last dance before their death. it is just like a bird's dance during his slaughtering .

O leaves , where will be your last tombs? where will be your last land ? surely, you have no answer yet , let alone, it is none of your business to know your destinies .because , your fates are led by stormy wind.

O my leaves , return back to the ground , they are unavoidable endings for you .

Over the past years , you were so nice. wearing your green color. reflecting the sun shine of morning , and moon light at night. you were so beautiful dears.
But today everything has been changed .lovers abandon sitting places under your shadows .birds abandon standing up on you. you are unwelcomed today.

When the soft wind passed through you in past, you were singing many songs and danced different dances . declared your enjoyment.
Today, when the wind passes through your place, we hear nothing, but bemoans.
Where are those laughs , where are your active dances, where are your colorful dresses. Where have they all gone? We see nothing but draft, thirst , and pale colors .
O my leaves .return back and rest. Never be regret dears, be glad instead .It is the circle of life . there is no advantage from long age." If night would come, there would be an end to this day , but that is no hope since another day like this one will follow. Your souls will be rest in peace forever.

  • May be the fallen leave is no longer useful for its tree. It shorts the age of tree instead . It is seemed certain that barren tree is unlike fertile one .The fertile tree is a pleasant and colored , the leaves always bring her tree life anew . whereas the barren tree is a bleak has nothing but waits to log .

Anele …….the aftermath of your absence is too hurt , it casts a shadow of sadness over all EC .

You have a sharp memory dear . It is a big surprise to seeing you remember my first blog in EC. How do you remember it ! though I have deleted it for a long time. The deleted blog was full of grammatical mistakes , even you did not comment on it at that time.
I feel so joyful when I see your a long -awaited comment on my blog. Is my accent good ? I have no confidence in speaking because there is no one speaks English with me in my place besides I don’t practice speaking in skybee , because I am waiting for persons have good accent just like you to practice speaking with them .

Keep in touch Anele do leave us we in dire need to you in EC , at a very least we need you as a teacher .Thank you dear.

  • Hi Galina ,

    I like your poem too. it is so nice . I have in my library five poems talk about the same theme , The Waste Land by T.S.ELIOT , Elegy Written in Country Church Yard by Thomas gray. And three poems by Tennyson , take a look on two of Tennyson poems ;
    TITHONUS
The woods decay, the woods decay and fall,
The vapours weep their burthen to the ground,

Man comes and tills the field and lies beneath,

And after many a summer dies the swan.

    Me only cruel immortality
Consumes; I wither slowly in thine arms,

Here at the quiet limit of the world,

    A white-hair'd shadow roaming like a dream

The ever-silent spaces of the East,

Far-folded mists, and gleaming halls of morn.
    CALM ;
“ the chestnut pattering to the ground :
    And another line :
calm and still light on yon great plain
that sweeps with all its autumn bowers
and crowded farm and lessening towers

I would like to express my gratitude for reminding me of those great poems , and your nice compliments, and supportive comments .I admire your ability to read poetry.

  • Tawfeeq, thank you very much for your nice words about my encouragement. It's always pleasant to hear that you can help somebody. I'm really happy now!

  • Thank you Galina for your amazing comment .your nice compliments on my post have created endless motives inside me.

Yes my dear friend ,I compare leaves with people. using metaphors, similes ,to reflect the dark and relentless fate of people . but what kind of people !! they are people of matchless modesty and refinement, unique and loveable .

the poem is outlet of deep and brooding resentment , as life takes what we love and admire. so sometimes we need to convey that feeling just to give our soul some pleasure .

Is my recitation fantastic? Oh Galina , you are the first one who encourages me to record my voice . I have spend three years here without thinking of recording my voice .

I always believe in your opinion .I have began recording my voice ,since I read your nice statement on my voice in Gabriel lessons .

please accept my heartfelt thanks my unique friend .

  • Thank you Hala for your nice wonderful words, you are always clever , and have rare ability to read my poor lines . yes, the falling of leaves is a symbol of departure with a wordless farewell .
losing what we like ,makes gloom overcomes us ,since we have no choice but to accept and respect the changeable nature .

I admire your way of writing and teaching in EC Hala .I have learnt a lot from you .I have never ever regret that I knew you , you are my dear friend .

    thank you very much .

  • Tawfeeq, you know your blog about yellow leaves has reminded me of the famous poem:

        Those Evening Bells

                       Thomas Moore

Those evening bells! those evening bells!

How many a tale their music tells,

Of youth and home and that sweet time

When last I heard their soothing chime.

Those joyous hours are past away:

And many a heart, that then was gay.

Within the tomb now darkly dwells,

And hears no more those evening bells.

And so 'twill be when I am gone:

That tuneful peal will still ring on,

While other bards shall walk these dells,

And sing your praise, sweet evening bells!

  • Tawfeeq, again one more beautiful poem (though written in prose). Without any doubt you have a talent for poetry. What rich imagination! You composed such an interesting story about those falling leaves. I've never thought about them in such way....you compare them with people. You use for it metaphors, similies and so on.  And this poem in prose is so meaningful....it's about our attitude to life. I love these lines:

"Never be regret dears, be glad instead .It is the circle of life . there is no advantage from long age."       How beautiful!!!

Tawfeeq, your recitation is fantastic! Why didn't you recite poems before? You have a gift for it. You have an ability to convey the meaning of the piece of writing while reading. Your English is excellent! Thanks a lot for such beautiful poem in prose!

  • The falling leaves gives a sense of sadness and departure when summer fades and passes ...But this is the nature of life to grow and to change .I think there are advantages from long age ....If we understand life and the way we get meaning to it ,we can be more creative and wiser when we get old...isn't it?

When we devote ourselves to love others and create something that gives our life a purpose and a meaning and elevate our spirits  ...then every day in our life is meaningful and deserve to be lived...

Thank you Tawfeeq for the  blog ! I think adding your voice make it more touching and impressive ,you recited it as a poem ...Wonderful !
