Two days ago, an old man who is my neighbor gave me this old notebook when I was passing his house...At first I was startled because I hardly know him...I don't really know him even his name...Besides exchanging smiles and a word or two, our relation as a neighbor is no more than
that.. In short,we are not that close friend but then he gave me that
old notebook..And I wonder why? "This is my daughter's notebook..maybe
you want to read it" said he..Then his old wife came and said.."You
know he has waited for you to pass by since this early morning"...And
so I thought that he was so excited and eager to give it to me...With
the old blue notebook in my hand, I thanked him and went home..I read
it as long as I arrived home...And I was so fascinated how the owner's
of the notebook gathered those beautiful words of wisdom in this
notebook..Until now I am reading this notebook..I feel amazed of the
contain of this notebook...It contains excerpt, short articles, quotes
that has a rich collection of wisdom...I'm so glad that he gave it to
me...One part of it is a beautiful resolution that I want to make it as
my own because it inspires me to change for a better self...And this is it...

Today and everyday of my eternal life, I promise myself:

to every person I meet;
To make my friends feel that there is
something beautiful in each one of them;
To look at the sunny side of life,
and make my optimism come true;
To think only the best and expect only the best;
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own;
To forgive and forget the mistakes
of the past, and press on to the greater achievement of the future;
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times
and give every living creature I meet a smile;
To give so much time to the improvement
of myself that I have no time to criticize others;
To be too large for worry,
Too noble for anger,
Too strong for fear,
Too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
And so it is.

I'd like to say don't give up on your goal, Phu. It is only a matter of time..The most important is you have the desire to do it. If not this year, you can still rearrange the time on which you want to attain that goal in some other time that is more convenient to you..Don't rush yourself..I mean even it takes a longer time, the more important is you are making steps towards realizing it..An effort, though how much small it is, if you do it little by little, step by step, in a very persistent way..at the end you can be sure, you can still achieve it..
So please Keep on keeping on..

I read some your comments on Expector's page. And I'm amazed at your attempt to practise. I know your goal at the beginning of this page. You know, I've set a goal to speak English fluently at the end of this university year. However, "man proposes, but God disposes". I have some financial problem, so I have to spend time on earning money and leave studying English out. It's a pity that I cannot reach my goal. Good luck to you!!

What a beautiful gift that was.I think it wasn't only a gift from that kind man ,maybe it was a gift from God.I think God love you very much.You know I think God sometimes send us some sign .and maybe the beautiful contain of that notebook was a sign for you to be a better self as you said.
How are you my friend..It's been a long time...Yes, this story is real...And yeah,,ja ja ja..Maybe you are right his daughter is now finding her notebook!..As far as I know her daughter has been in abroad for a long time...So there's no guilty feeling for me, je je je...
