Red-cap Boletus

Today we went to hunt mushrooms to forest. We did not get much of these. Although there was many more in that place, even the small ones were worm eaten. So instead of picking them. I took some photos to bring home.It was good, that I had my older brother, nephew and dad with me. I'm bad at orientation..The worst, is when going into forest together and then get separated. In such case, I sure won't be able to remember the direction, we came from. Because in some moment, I was just following someone else's lead. :P

  • Hello gang cheng, You're right it's not focused well.

I use cheapest point and shoot digital camera. It's a older model Nikon coolpix L4. The only way for me to change focus, is to point camera to a object in certain distance and then push the trigger to the end at the object I actually want to photograph.

Usually when I photograph small objects like flowers from close, where camera have difficult to understand, where it should focus on. I reach my left hand out, close to flower and let camera to focus on my palm. Then remove the hand and take the shot. But it doesn't work alway well.

In this case, of this photo. It seems I didn't point the camera exactly to the mushroom. It seems, that it did focus on the ground behind the mushroom... which is the center area of photo. Well the camera have small screen and.. It's more like a fluke whether I get good photo or not. ^_^

  • Hi Hardi, nice to meet you.

You could control the camera focus, the mushrooms as foreground is blur, you could make the focus more closer and make field depth more shorter . by this way you may get a more clear mushrooms and more blur background. Then you can make the themes more prominent.

    have a nice day.

  • No, It should be Red Cap boletus. Or it's maybe called Aspen bolete, because it often grows near to aspen trees. It's meat colors dark blue when cut it, or deform it. And it's cap varies from something yellowish orange to reddish orange.. so maybe it's called also orange cap.

I think you're talking about birch bolete(Leccinum scabrum) ("Подберёзовик обыкнове́нный").

    Aspen bolete(Leccinum aurantiacum) ("Подосиновик красный")

  • Hello, Hardi!

Great photo! I thin, this mushroom is " a brown cap boletus", isn't it? Russian name is "podberyozovik" - the mushroom, which grow up under a birch. Yeas? I like to hunt after mushrooms, I know some names of them. :-) But I didn't visit a forest for a long time! :-)

  • Thank you, Forget-me-Not and Ardian. ^_^
  • What a beautiful photo Hardi, i really like it a lot. Thanks for sharing

This is maybe also edible mushroom too.. Maybe it's some russula.. But I never pick those. I only pick boletus and chantarelle.. sometime rarely also some Lactarius(Milk caps). But don't like them too much.

Fizzy@ Thank you for the comment... Don't say that I should get lost. I don't want to get lost. Who will watch anime with you, if I'm lost. ^_^ It's scary. Although there are small roads and clearings in that forest, so that I should be able to get out of it by my self. It would still be bad to get separated, from others.. and meet a bear. I also don't own a phone too. So can't let also companions to know that I'm okay or smth...

2382607764?profile=originalPeople often get lost in some big forest, or swamps, when they going to hunt mushrooms, or wild berries in swamp. Usually it happens with older people. Then huge searches are made. Police, freewill people, rescue teams and etc.. Usually the person have been found alive. Sometime after few days. Some time sooner..

2382607598?profile=originalBut I should be fine, when I'm alone, then I usually won't go too far and will pay attention where going and thus should be able to get back at least the same way where I came from.... When forest not too tight with bad visibility and without any suitable landmarks. If there's no landmarks then in digit enough forest, I might get lost already by going 15 meters into it. :P

And since I'm diabetic sometime my blood sugar might fall too low from walking and then I might have difficulty of thinking and noticing surrounding correctly.. or even might get some memory lost.. and surely also tiredness.

    ^_^

  • Hardi! What's beauty!!!! Thanks for sharing.
