so, it will be like an equation. de is prefix, it indicates a negative meaning. so, if i subtract -4+1= -3. 

if you look at the follwing words, it has a connotation with negative implication.

un, in,de,ir and so on.

unbelievable, unhappy, unusual, unemployed, inconvenient, indirect, indisputable, dehumanize, defragmentation. irregular, irrational.
