Dear Group Members,

I've just posted a blog post of the same topic. I know some of you may not like reading blogs, so, I thought I want to share the same article in here.

This is about an interesting article in BBC news about "Moser Light" which was invented by Alfredo Moser, a Brazilian mechanic. Mr. Alfredo Moser uses plastic bottle with water and bleach to invent the most amazing light without the usage of any electricity. The Moser light is based on principle of refraction to light up a dark room during the day.

Mr. Moser had been using the using plastic bottles filled up with water and a splash of bleach, to avoid algae, to illuminate dark rooms since 2002 and now the idea had been spreading around the world especially to poorer countries. Mr. Moser had the idea to invent the solution during frequent blackout in Brazil in 2002. Depending on the strength of the sun, the light that filling his home is between 40 to 60 watts.

He was quoted to BBC News "It's a divine light. God gave the sun to everyone, and light is for everyone. Whoever wants it saves money. You can't get an electric shock from it, and it doesn't cost a penny."

By the end of the year, it's expected that millions homes will be fitted with his invention. But, Mr. Moser did not get paid for his invention. He is still poor.

The question is, why did some Government or even big Companies did not use his idea, and maybe improvise it further, and fit most homes with the much needed light? Reading from the article, it seems this is one of the best and cheapest solutions to energy usage. I just hope no one will put some pattern request and make millions from this simple idea.

It makes you wonder, doesn't it?

I hope some of you may read the article and give your views on the subject.

  • OMG ,this is really awesome ,what a great idea he had what a great invent ,I wish we can someday use of what he invent ,Thanks for sharing great discussion here :)"

    • Hi Sima, from the description in the article, it seems the invention is very easy to use, provided that person knows some handiwork.

  • Indeed, greed make people forgotten about their humility and humanity.

  • Well WMW, I've read some articles alleging that some big companies did not allow some medicine for cancer to be approved because it's cheap and readily available. Some of traditional medicines using herbs were stopped from being approved and such.

These big companies are mostly want to monopolise the markets and get the profits and they will do anything to prevent their profit from getting smaller, even for the benefit of people.

Why do you think that products that are using sun energy are never taking off really big? It was said because all those big oil companies are doing their best to prevent it from happening.

  • Yes, you are maybe right WMW . Maybe big companies cannot make money out of this cheap solution, and thus not interested with the invention. I just hope they will not try to "sabotage" it, like other inventions that they think not beneficial to them.
