Elderflower syrop

Hi everyone!Yesterday I made my favorite homemade Elderflower syrop, because on our climate elderflower is in bloom at this time.I collect them on the side of the forest, which are far away from busy roads and thus pollution....We adore it from summer to winter,it is very refreshing with soda water and with a zest of lemon,on ice cubes...mmmm....Let's try it out!First of all I'd like to share this link,to give you an idea about the whole process,-if you are interested in it-,but I make it according to a different method, which I find is mere simple:http://www.jeremytaylor.eu/elderflower_syrup.htmMy supply of elderflower syrop in my pantry:

MY ELDERFLOWER SYROPINGREDIENTS:25-30 heads of elderflowers3 liter of water7g citric acida half teaspoonful of preservative(I use Natrium-benzoát)3 or 4 sliced lemon2,5 kg of sugarPreparation:

My method is very easy,we mix all the ingredients in a large pot, except sugar, and leave there for soak for 2 days. After we filter it thoroughly and put it to a boil with the sugar. We mesure it even when it is hot in bottles and put it in a box and cover it with coverings, let there until the next day, after put it to its final place until winter. This quantity will serve you 6 liters of syrop, and stay for more than a year.

    Hi Farid!
I would rather call it a drink,as we make par example 1dose of syrop in a large glass, and add to it 8 or 10 dose of water or soda water with it,and serve with ice cubes, very refreshing, but one have to love that special herb scent of it,I do.:))
    It's like a lemonade.

Thank you for commenting & for your interest.

  • Hi Dedene,
-I use it as a sweetener, instead of sugar I put this syrup to the tea of my children.
(I give them herbal tea usually made from thyme and hip,and I dry elderflower for teaherb too....,they like it,and I can avoid to give them those products from store, full of sugar:(..,)
-I use it as all other syrop(p.e.:Teisseire syrops),put a little in a glass and add water to it and a slice of lemon,it's like a tasty lemonade, very refreshing in hot summers.
Elderberry wine must be very extraordinary,my grandma used to make jam from the berries,it's good to thore throat and flu.....
