  • Hi Alizera!
    Thanks for adding here.
I love my job too. But in Brazil is the same, the teacher's work isn't valued. Teachers don't get so much money, unless they work in a university. Here we work for love!
I think it's a very important profession because we promote knowledge and there's nothing better than this. Also, sometimes we are not so good, but we meet different people and it's relaxing.
So... let's continue loving what we do. This is the best way to be a teacher!

    Best regards,
    Joyce.

    Hi Joyce,
I live in Mashhad, Iran. It's been over 5 years now that I've been teaching English as my main occupation. I've handled different levels ranging from beginners to advanced students, mostly adults. I love children but I just can't manage them.
I love the job because you find the chance to meet new people and sometimes you can make good friends. The salary is usually not satisfactory, though.
Recently, I have started teaching students who want to take IELTS exam. This is a new experience and better paid.
    Bye.
PS. Thanks for the group. I love to be a part of it.
  • And do you work with kids, teens or adults?
How is your experience with beginner levels?

    Regards,
    Joyce

  • hi....dear friends,I came from Indonesia.. my name is Rini Hartuti , Im 27 years old an English teacher for vocational school in the novice level and also the youngest English teacher. And in our government every school must send their students to follow debate English for the competition once a year. • Hi everyone,

My name's Felix, and I come from Indonesia. I just wanna share my little experience in teaching English. When I had my internship in Department of Foreign Affairs, I was asked to teach the Diplomats' wife a basic daily English conversation so that they will be able to communicate with other people when they are in foreign countries.

At that time, I taught them how to ask for direction. I taught them the "turn right", "turn left", "intersections", "U-turn", "roundabout", etc. It was kinda difficult to teach middle-aged mothers because all the time what they were doing was gossiping and talking about foods they cooked. So I just could be patient dealing with them.

However, there was a funny thing I'd like to share here. It was when I asked one of the wives how to get direction from her house to a supermarket. Easily she answered my question with an innocent voice, said "It is easy to get to the supermarket. You just take a cab and violaaa...You are at the supermarket." Then me and the other wives laughed very loud. It wasn't the answer I really expected. What I want her to say was she showed me the direction to go to the supermarket.

Well, that moment has become the unforgettable moment I ever have in my life as an English teacher. Cheers!! ;p
  • Hi joyce,
well i do kid's classes ( from age of 6)---------- it's more like babysitting in English
Beginner to intermediate classes (age 15 and above)
    Business English classes
    Conversation classes
and TOEFL (I only do "Structure and written expression" section)

I teach more or less 15 students in each class for 80 minutes per lesson.

I love the teaching....... I hate the parents meeting......
  • Hi all,
My names's Mohammed. I come from Egypt, but now I'm working in UAE. I work in a small institute where students enroll for English language courses. It's a small private institute. So, we teach different levels of students. I work almost all day...from 8 am till about 9:30 pm six days a week! Thing is, I like teaching;however, It's become to be so boring to me...I've thought about online teaching as a way to earn some money, but till now I don't have even little free time to try this. I'm thinking also to blend between face to face classes we give here in my work place with virtual classes ...as something which can make it a little bit more interesting.
I like to get to know people from different places: teachers and students.
you can add me on facebook or email me to just keenp in touch.

    let's share our thoughts...
    have a good day
  • Interesting! Here in Brazil there are different levels of English in the same classroom, because sts study in courses out of it. So, sometimes it's difficult for the teachers. We should have debate classes like you do. I liked it! =)

Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Chris, an English teacher from Indonesia. I teach High School Level in a State School. I teach more or less 40 students in a classroom. Their level of English is intermediate low. I enjoy teaching English especially teaching English debate. Our government conducts English Debate once a year. Every school must send students to join this competition. I am assigned to prepare students to be able to debate, argue, or state an opinion. It is quite challenging.
