Preparation For TOEFL

I am last year student of MBA. Now I'm planning to take the TOEFL. My grammar is not as correct but I have problems to speaking English. I am planning to talk with learners if they want to practice. Anybody can help me?

  • If you live in Canada you are missing the best opportunity for English conversation. Our learners love to Skype and you might be able to help the lowest level learners.  Most of them don't write as well as you and probably are far below you in speaking skills.

TOEFL iBT is difficult and you REALLY NEED TO take several PRACTICE TESTS to see where your weakest points are. Work hardest on your weak points.

If you have been in Canada long you have heard a lot of English and really must try to spend hours every day talking with native speakers. Maybe tell some friends you need to erase all small grammar problems from your speech. Beg them to interrupt and correct you.

The speaking part on iBT is not that big. That will be your least problem.

The listening part is another story. Listening and getting all of the details will be very difficult. Reading comprehension is not terribly difficult, except that the time limit will make you miss answers or not finish the section in time.

The written grammar questions are also tricky, but I hope your practice will help you understand the best answers. There will be words with very similar spelling that will hurt you when you try to choose the correct one.

Best of luck and try to do this:

    1. Practice speaking and listening every day with your friends.

    2. Keep making new friends that you can practice with (maybe sit in a place where students gather for coffee and politely try to join conversations).

    3. Bring some flowers or cookies to an "Old Folks Home" and see if you can bring happiness into the lives of some very lonely, sad people. They may be old, but they know their English and some of have nobody to speak with on many days. A son or daughter may live hours away and they will be happy for your visits.

  • yes, so do I. I'll take ibt test in the next 3 months, and I'm still preparing. It'll be great if we can practice.
