clubhouse

This month, let's build the house of our dreams. Since we are all part of an English Club, we'll make it a clubhouse. We will describe it together in the comment section.

For this challenge I need writers to do the building, landscaping, painting, home decorating, and even renovating. Each time you visit the blog, imagine that you have just spent time at the clubhouse. Answer this question: What did you do at the building site today?

Here are some things you can do:
  • build a new room
  • plant a garden
  • add lighting
  • bring in furniture
  • add appliances
  • decorate and paint
  • put in new floors
  • add accessories
Here is some useful "house vocabulary" for the challenge:Rooms in a houseFurniture and decorAppliancesOkay, I'll begin...---------------------------------------------------------Today, I built the framework for the clubhouse. It has a basement, a main floor, and an upstairs. There are many staircases, but I'm not sure how many rooms there will be. The house is on a mountain overlooking the Pacific Ocean. There is a large open field behind the house. I have ordered 20 large bookcases, which will arrive tomorrow.----------------------------------------------------------What did you do at the building site today?

  • Eleennian, I'm so glad we have another gardener in the group. You're right, flowers are comforting.
Do we have any designers who can create a customized welcome mat? I also think we need to work on being more eco-friendly in our design. Any ideas?
  • iwant plant the garden ,because the flower is beautiful, smell well and when you feel tired and see these floweers and will feel comfortable.
  • Oh, yes, we need a playroom where the Wii and other video game players should be placed. I'm not a good player, though.

I'll accept your challenge, Tara. All the activities you mentioned are really exciting - I really want to give it a shot. I wonder if you're ready for that - boxing could be a real challenge, especially for a girl.

I like the idea that we can learn English while we play. I'll try to add more:
    "Oh, my."
"Wow, what are you doing here?"
"It's so cool. Let me try."
    "It really made my day."
    "I'm exhausted."
  • RIYA, thanks for adding the library! It's a great addition.

Does anyone think we should have a Wii in our clubhouse? What kind of room would it belong in? I'd like to challenge some of you to skipping or boxing or kayaking. We can practise English expressions while we play, such as:
    "Be careful!"
    "Look out!"
    "He's catching up."
"You rocked." (you did very well)
    "That was awesome."
"I challenge you to another match."
    "That was a workout!"
  • Yes, Marzouq, and where there are roses there must be baby's breath.

If you don't mind I'd like to put some decorative rocks in the garden as well. If everyone can bring a nice rock from their closest beach that would be perfect!

Also, I saw a mansion the other day that had a large piece of driftwood in front of it. On the front of the wood was the address for the house. It looked so elegant and I think it would suit our clubhouse, don't you?
  • Difficult to describe, but I'll try.Khomus is yakut national instrument. It's very small and it's made of iron.It looks like small iron guitar with long tongue . You put it between lips and play with fingers on it's tongue. There is similar instrument in Japan and they make it of wood. But the sound is the same-unusual and exciting.
  • Alexandra, I hope you'll play the Khomus for us. Can you describe it? I'm not sure if Canada has a national instrument, but I love this idea. I'd bring a baby grande piano in a flashy colour like hot pink.
  • I think we need the wall with exposition of national musical instruments in our conference hall. I'll bring our national insrtument Khomus. At the end of the conference we'll make show- "Music of world" or something like that...
  • I thanked Salim for lazyboy chairs.
  • Oh, thank you. The second one looks very comfortable- I'd like to choose it.
