You may know the story of the old man who had two sons long ago.

The sons decided that they wanted their inheritance right away so the father divided his property between them. One son stayed at home and worked to increase his property and help his father.

The other son went far away and wasted his money on many things and did not find ways to increase it. After years passed he had no money and only the clothes on his back. So, he came home to his family.

The father welcomed his son who had been lost to him. He cried tears of joy, found new clothes for the boy and had the fat calf killed for a big feast to welcome his son home.

The son who had stayed home and worked hard all those years felt badly. There was no feast for him. But, his brother who had gambled and wasted his inheritance was given a big feast.

The father explained that he still loved the boy who had been gone and must welcome him the same as he would any son who had been missing. Even though that son had done bad things and not visited home, he was still family and still loved.

This ancient story reminds me of My EnglishClub and our friends who may leave here for a long time. We cannot know what they must do in their lives. They could have a very good reason for leaving for a while. It is not for us to say if it is a good reason or not, because we live a different lives from them.

All we can say is that we still love our friends and we will welcome them back after they are able to see us again. I was gone for much of the time for more than a year, but my friends have been warm in their welcome to me.

It is easy to return here  -  IF YOU DO NOT  -    delete your account

If you are very busy, sad or angry, it may be good to stay away from our club for a while.

Your friends will still love you , because they care about your happiness.

If you delete your account you are deleting your friends. I feel terrible when I am deleted.

You are also deleting all the messages and good history here.

Take a vacation from this club if you must. Just please, please, do not delete your account.

Your account will be safe for a long time so you can come back when your life improves. If you love this club and the people here, they will love you back when you return.

Deleting your account causes hurt to your friends. They miss you and grieve over your loss as if a friend has died. If you are angry at one person you shouldn’t hurt the ones who care about you. Just get your life together again and return.

I was gone and now I am very happy to be back with my friends. This place is more like a family to me and I love to see how everyone grows and improves with time.

I love you friends,

Bob

  • How come  I never  came across this  great  blog  Bob

I know the pain of losing  friends  form this site and  wished d they did not delete  their  account   but  took sabatical  instead  :(

  • I hope your friend does feel better after a while and comes back again. It is a very good sign that she didn't delete her account because we can all welcome her back with her original page if she decides to try again. Friends like this are like the prodigal son of biblical times and we will continue to love them while they are gone.

  • I stumbled upon this blog today. I was just browsing all the featured blogs from the yesteryear, and your blog caught my eyes. At first I thought it was about the return of a prodigal son, but it was not.

A few days ago, an EC friend of mine decided that she had enough of EC and some of its unscrupulous members. I know she faced a few heartache and hurt just because she's happen to be born in a Country that people like to think they know better because of the news from media.

Her decision to leave EC caught a few members by surprised, including me. Fortunately, she only left EC without deleting her account, so we are still hopeful that she will be back. I hope she will read your blog, and knows that just because a few bad apples in the bunch, other EC members, especially her friends are really missing her. I hope she knows that there are so many lovely things that she can look forward to by being in here.

  • WoW! Seems everything already exists on MyEC. I ever thought to write something like this, but I come to this now. :-) I'll really like to link this with all my EC friends. Very great blog, Sir. Thank you very much for this and I'm very glad to see you here once again!

  • Thanks Syubidupapap.  I am sure your friends understood that you needed to continue with your real world life and had to put the MyEC life on hold for a while.

And DEUCE666 is still here!  We are all happy to see you again and suppose that your life has been very busy lately.  I am so glad you had the time to comment Deuce and you know that you are always welcome when you have time to come by.

    FOR  EVERYONE HERE:

This should be a place we come when we have an opportunity, but should not be a place we feel compelled to come when we can't.  I think one more reason that we lose members could be this kind of pressure that members begin to put on themselves to keep up with their friend's comments.

Members should remember that some people may have time to spend hours here finding pretty pictures and greetings to post for their friends.  If you don't have time to do this and can reply only once a week, that is perfectly OK.  We are here for both learning and friendship.  Learning is the first reason you should be here and friendship the second.  Do not let yourself feel guilty if you can't comment back to your friends every time.  If they are your friends, they will understand, so don't let social pressure frustrate you.

It is nice to comment back and carry on discussions with friends if you can.  If you can't, remember that this is not required and they will still love you the same as before.  Nobody wants to see you leave and nobody wants you to feel uncomfortable or pressured to reply.

    Got it?

  • Where did you go Deuce you were missed  at EC

    Nice  to see you back

  • I'm sure those who DO delete their accounts are definitely having huge regrets later. And I'm sure that after reading your blog, Bob, 99% of English Club members will think well even before leaving EC for a while... great blog!

  • Great blog Mr Bob!

I like it so much and you wrote it well. You expressed yourself very well and you are right about some reasons why do people deleting their account. Anyways your arguments have made me decided not to delete my account no matter what happened :) Besides that, I am afraid someone will kill me if I delete my account or even just deactivate it :P

Well before this, I deleted my account once (lost all the history and everything I have in that account), created new account and then deactivated it few times :D Deactivated means.. I was still here because I chose not to delete my blogs so people can read it, but I was also not here because people could not drop a message on my page or inbox.

  • @Mr Bob,

What a touched story which is able to make me addicted to EC!

In such place, I get FRIENDS whom I'm not able to leave them. We are learning from each other; fighting with each other and so on. I'm not that active member though. =$

BTW- I was so touched by your comment below. I see that you are over addicted to EC. =")
