My Diary,

Thursday

I was always angry at people who give up easily criticizing them for not being so strong to achieve what they long for. Now, I think I became like those whom I criticized before. However, I would like to be stronger this year not being sorry for my past mistakes and not being worried for future. I would like to do my best at this moment to achieve my goals. As such, I have decided to write either a blog or a paragraph or even a sentence every day for about 15 minutes. The perfection of my writing is not significant. I just determined to write. I would call this year for myself, “The year of writing.” I will write to remind myself of what is necessary to do at this moment, to be in touch with my inner self, to think clearly, to learn more, to gather knowledge and to sum up, to grow.

To begin with, I would like to write about my good moment in dentist’s office. While I was waiting, I saw Reader’s Digest magazine, December 2010 issue. The title of “The benefits of doing good deeds” caught my attention. The article was talking about how our good acts can change people’s life as well as ours. People who are helped more likely help others. They may not give you rewards in return for your act, but they more probably give it forward. By doing good deeds, we create a positive attitude in others, ourselves and our environment generating coherence in the world.

In the end, the author mentioned some useful websites including actsofkindness.org, helpothers.org, doagooddeed.com and thegooddeedsorganisation.com for those who would like to make a change by doing a kind act. Some of these websites even have some ideas how to assist individuals. I hope this year be filled with good deeds and consequently, peace!

Be fun and free,

Nafis

  • I am on the article you've shared with us ...And I see how kids by their beings make us be good at least to them ...Once I watched a video shared here that was about the idea of sticky notes and writing brief "to be ..." phrases ...I loved it ...a word of "be happy" can be encouraging to bring a moment of happiness in our day ...And as the narrator of the article you've shared has said only doing one good deed per day is so great and won't take that much time, money, energy and so on ...As Tara says "baby steps" ...That's so effective a rule to take baby steps towards a big goal !

  • That's a great idea to write ...It's a good deed deep there ...If you share some of your writings, whatever you write, YOU can ignite a candle in someone's mind somewhere ...And this is so good ...

I hope that you grow and grow and grow nonstop ...

Have all the best, my lovely friend...

    Thanks for sharing

    :)

  • Lovely Monika, thank you so much for such a nice and warm message. I also hope I can contribute to my English community a little. I love the quote you wrote here: What we frankly give, forever is our own. Wow! Thanks a lot for the encouragement. It definitely encourages me! Take great care, with love,
  • Dear Nafis,

I agree with Nida,we will be lucky about your new year resolution, since I always enjoy to read your meaningful and your food-for-thought writings.

I think you are too strict with yourself, your writings are perfect already,(you are a highbrow in my eyes.)

To be charitable is a very nice resolution, happiness is to give, not to recieve.

I'm seeing forward to read your diary daily,

    With my warm regards:

  • Dear Nida, yes, I will write something every day. This is what I decided and will put it into action. It's not easy but I will do it no matter what. Tomorrow, I will tell you why writing seems so important to me. I don't know if the subjects I choose to write about are interesting or not and to tell the truth, I do not want to focus on such minor issues and lose my main goal. Because when you start writing, you think what subjects are important for readers rather than what you like to write about.

To have a friend like you, I am more enthusiastic to write. Thanks a million times for your support and kind words! May God help all of us giving knowledge and wisdom to us! Take great care, with love,

  • Salaam dear Nafis, I wish you a happy new "writing" year. Good luck.

Thank you so much for this wonderful and well written blog. I really enjoyed reading it. I appreciate your thoughts about helping others. Links given by Reader's Digest article seem very nice. Thanks a lot for sharing them with us.

By the way, are you going to write a new blog daily? I'm so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^_^
