This blog is dedicated to my friend, I Am Vietnamese who loves all critters and creatures, especially caterpillars.

After a few months of hectic schedule, finally I managed to get a long week break. I decided to go back to my hometown and visit my Mom and my brother. It was about 4-hours drive, though I hate driving, I enjoyed it this time. Maybe because the drive was smooth, and it's been a while since I go back.

It's really relaxing to be able to enjoy the village, after all the hustle and bustle of city life. I began to appreciate more of the subdue life of my brother and his family. Don't get me wrong, I will go crazy nut if I have to stay more than a week. LOL

I managed to indulge my long time hobby of taking photo of nature. I learnt to appreciate the beauty of some ugly critters. Before this, I prefer to take photo of the obvious beauty, like flowers and scenery, but this time I was looking for the ugly, the awkward creatures/critters and found the beauty hidden inside.

Thus, this blog will be a photo blog and I want to share some of the beautiful critters.

1. Beautiful caterpillar

I have to admit that caterpillar always gives me the creep. Previously, I will always try to avoid it. But, this caterpillar changed my mind, though I still won't touch it or come close enough. I am sure it will change into a beautiful butterfly.

2. Black is beautiful

People always say, black is beautiful. This caterpillar doesn't seem to be that. LOL. But, hey, beauty is in the eye of beholder, right? However, the small black brown insect seemed to have the colour blocking to the T. LOL

3. Hopper the grasshopper

I always love the hopping grasshopper. It seems to be a very happy critter, always hopping from one tree to another. This one stopped for a while and gave me the time to take some photo of it.

4. Life imitates nature

Nature is really wonderful. I stumbled upon this leaf-like critter while picking some chilies. At first, I didn't pay much attention to it because I thought it was just a leaf. But, lo and behold! It moved.

These are just some of the wonderful critters that I've had privileged to take their photos. I don't know some of their common names, so if any of you know what it was, please share it with me.

  • Onee-chan, now your mission is to find an Indonesian Katydid. :D :D :D

  • Oh, God. I'm sorry, I didn't read number 1 and 2. hiks. I'm afraid of caterpillar, even just a photo...:s.

So, it is Katydid. Maybe there are some here, but I've not found yet. Well done, Noas! I love your nature photos, except caterpillar. :((

  • Hi Mr. Bob. I've browsed through and found the Katydid. It did looks like the same critter in my photo just that in most photos that I've found, Katydid have green legs whereas the critter in my photo is having brownish leg. But, thank you for introducing to me that wonderful Katydid. And I like the most is the pink Katydid. WOW!

I'm still learning to take close-up photo, and I still find it difficult.

  • This is my favorite kind of blog, one that teaches me about something I don't know. One of my professors knew most of the insects and discovered some new ones. I wish he was here, but he would know scientific names.  Your leak critter looks related to a Katydid. I will see if I can find more. I have taken some insect and flower close-up shots recently but my lens is not great for macro work.

  • Dear Sewar,

Thank you for your wonderful words.

  • 2389495931?profile=original        My dearest friend, always remember that you are unique just like your topics. God bless you.

  • Hi Smile who is always smiling and making other people smile :-)

I'm glad that you enjoyed this blog. Well, I guess we don't need to know their real names to appreciate their beauty.

  • Yes Jehan, you are right, of course. Generally insects are successful in adopting and adapting to their surrounding in order for them to live.
  • Vietttt ... why do I have to wear two magnifiers? They are not glasses, you know that don't you? LOL. Well, I am sure Mr Polished Pole of Lighting and I can come up with more than 1001 adjectives to describe you by the end of the year. Don't worry. LOL

  • Jai, yes, a little bit of danger sometimes is just too much too. :)
