The Joy of Teaching English

It gives me great joy to teach English and I enjoy every moment of it. It does not matter whether I'm teaching in a group or to an individual. I always make my lesson interesting to my students and I encourage them to ask questions. I hope they enjoy my lesson as much as I enjoy teaching them.

I know not everyone learns at the same speed or pace and this can cause problems in a big group. So it is better, to divide your class into different levels. I encourage my students to speak in English when my class commences so that they can improve in their pronunciation and to interact with one another confidently in English. Listening is a skill acquired and I recommend them to listen intently to the conversation which are played on the CD during the class lesson before they attempt the questions on their papers.

I encourage my students to read widely and to make reading a hobby. This will help them in writing their essays as they get ideas from the books which they've read. Listening to their favourite English singers have greatly helped them in their English as they enjoyed singing along with their singers.

Moreover, I want them to participate in English forums, English debates and English quizzes to build their confident in English.

To all my students, I love you all. I hope you'll excel in English!!!

  • Hello Stan!

I immensely like reading such encouraging stories about teaching English!
I think the first rule to be a good teacher is to love your subject and love those who are supposed to inherit your love for the subject. Hence, I must admit you are a great teacher if you do all the things you told us here. =)
