A few days ago, i added a blog about the strange and funny things we had to face while learning english. The positif comments i received on that post motivated me to search for more. Are you ready for more fun ?Do you have any idea of what the word "oxymorons" means ? Noooo, it's not a kind of stange insect, neither the name of a rare disease that could affect our bodies. An Oxymoron is a combination of contradictory or incongruous words. It is a literary figure of speech in which opposite or contradictory words, terms, phrases or ideas are combined to create a rhetorical effect by paradoxical means.http://www.oxymorons.info/reference/oxymorons/definition.aspHere are some exemples : could you find more ?A new classicAccidentally on purposeAll aloneCountless numbersCruel kindnessReal fantasyAwfully goodPretty uglyOnly choiceDarck lightVirtual realityMournful optimist. What about "Homographs"According to "Dailywrittingtips",homographs are words with different pronunciation, meanings and origins but the same spelling.Isn't that strange ? But tell me, how can 2 words with the same spelling mean 2 different things ?You won’t house me in that houseNever desert in the desertHer good resume helped her to resume her careerI coudln’t coax the coax into the hole !I did not object to the objectThe farm was used to produce produceI asked one of my fan to turn the fan on.www.dailywritingtips.comI hope you enjoyed this post !I will try to find something interesting for the part III

  • Hi dear Manuela,

    Brava! Such an interesting post.

Through one of Tara's writing challenges, I'd heard of homophones before. Homophones are sth like homographs. One stands for two words having exactly the same

-phones ;like dear and deer. The other refers to words having identical -graphs; like suit and suit; The suit in the shop would suit the gentle groom.

Thanks for the interesting and new info.

    I liked it so much.

    Good day,

    :)
