Talking to my friend Martin

Hi there!

I would like to share here a nice experience I had in class yesterday with my Elementary III (adults) group. I have taught them about food, some healthy habits, keeping fit and so on, so I thought: "I should invite one of my friends from My English Club to be interviewed by my students...". So, that's what happened. I logged in and saw Martin, from Slovakia, online, then I invited him to participate in an interview activity and he said YES!!! I got very happy, because I wanted to provide something different in my class and my sts would love it!

So, we set up a time and we chose Gmail to talk, through video. My students got so excited during the interview that they asked him what they were supposed to (about food) and continued making other questions, like how old Martin is, things he likes to do, sports, etc...

It really was a good time!

Thanks, Martin, for your attention. We loved that interchange experience!

  • Such a funny and educating procedure  for the little children to learn to ak questions to someone they don't know!Very special idea Joyce and well done to you Martin : )
  • Hi Joyce,
I think it was a cool experience for your students. You are a very creative teacher! I think teachers should be like you. They are very lucky to have you as their teacher:)I'm sure you love what you do,and it's very good because you transmit them passion to learn English.
  • Hi Tara, part of the group is already on MyEC and after that class, other students who are not here yet, got excited with the idea of signing up. I will encourage them to write a blog post about the experience we had, they will like it.

    Thanks for your support! =)

  • You did well!!!

I liked this kind of intercation in class where students can overstep the tradition education system especially in the poors countries. So this interview encourage students to take widely the study out one zone ( schools ) but extense their studiousness on internet, books, groups-work and so on.

  • Fantastic! I'm so happy to hear this. I'll have to talk about this at IATEFL in a few weeks! I wonder if one of your students would write a blog about this experience? If they aren't on MyEC, they could write a guest post on your blog!
  • Dear Joyce,

I think your students enjoyed studying English in this way a lot .

It was like having a guest in the class room. That's exciting , interesting and fun to learn.
