She smashes her mirror

Sometimes, thinking about her age goes great length . Forgetting herself, and be non the wiser .When she sees a woman in a the same age with as her ,she finds herself hurries unconsciously to her mirror to compare herself with her ,seeing how the years have destroyed her pale face.

While her eyes keep watching in a mirror examining sluggishly the skin beneath her eyes ,hair and lips… a dreadful realization comes over her all at once ,that her days have gone and nothing will return the wheel of life.

The mirror reflects many facts; she is a woman of forty, with a strength greater than iron, and patience more than endurance itself.

She spends every day of her life coming and going to get her providence in dignity in a very disturbance country. She turns away among satisfying her parents, her brother whom she loves him beyond all deserving and bore patiently with his many disgraceful doings and between herself .She did utmost to be a successful woman . But never once she complains.

Today, she bemoans her life; saying”Oh.. how the years went so fast” .Then ,she goes in flashback to her early time , spring ,summer, and her fall ,she wanders “ How the time has escaped “but she comforts herself ,remembers death ,repeats her teacher`s saying "we are all passing away though slow to depart " . asking herself a contemplative and deep question ; where will I go , and why I came? what is the wisdom from all of that? I have just adjusted my life, snatch my fruit of my life , my successful efforts, alas I become an old one now.

She becomes outrage ,and can't bear that feeling any more .Fearing of next unwelcome winter that might be more sever then she smashes her mirror.

  • Hi Nina@

I think that all of us have experienced the test of suffering from an inner conflict which is always forced us to meditate a lot, and to think over our roads and ask the same question in every time” How many steps have we walked and how many steps remained? Do we complete our dreams ?Do we have enough time to complete them ? These kind of questions would drive us mad and becomes irrational people.
This woman is a good reflection for all old people .
Thank you dear ,it is my pleasure to see you here .Your comment enriches my poor lines.

  • interesting! its the story of life, once you come and once you need to leave and the road which connects these two stages is called AGING!and you know what!i think the most important thing which may cause us having a great remorse of the past or a pleasant satisfaction is based on how much we have tried for our goals and factual aims in life.Although i think a factual goal will be achieved if anyone just wants it,there are some goals which may not be achieved apparently, the secret is that : Trying for gaining those Goals is the target itself!

    Thanks for sharing it!

    The Best

  • Thank you Sima for your nice comment .That is very kind of you .By the way , most of old people say that (some of my dreams haven’t come true yet )because Man always dream new dreams.

  • Hi my special friend Anele @Kids like to grow old fast..... adults like to go back being kids . Adults and kids either of them are discontent ,but it is the circle of life .We should accept it whether we like it or not .Babies will go in same circle they crawl and when they grow old and become aged they will crawl too, how farcical ironic of life it is .
The woman in this post should accept the fact the “Nothing remains permanent in this world “especially in her country ,her misgivings are good reflections of her life and her place .She lives in a harsh land which is crowded by myriads of hardships and burdens .Her land rejects its young people let alone elder ones . It likes to bury innocent people greedy, where the explosions everywhere which reap randomly and tirelessly many persons there. So “Nothing remains permanent in her place .” She learns through life's trials that the best thing is, how to make her hands clean of blood even she lives in a land of blood .
I’m care too much about what you comment on my posts Anele .I am a man who doesn’t care if I grow old as long as a friend like you here with me. True wealth , wonderful times and long age are measured by people who we love and care . I wish you to be always young Anele .

It is blessing to grow old here and seeing you day by day add me addition season .Do you remember the poem (fifth season).THANK YOU SO MUCH ANELE.

  • Hi Expector Smith@ it is an unequivocal truth that we get older sooner or later .This is the life , and I believe that “living in the present and taking time for the people we cherish, is the formula for a perfect age”.
it is blessing to see your nice comment here .Thank you very much dear friend.

  • Hi rysperski@ The mirror reflects the person himself .Man comes as result of his environment and circumstances. everyone has his own concept and vision about oldness ,but as I said previously

No two insightful beings disagree that the purport of oldness is a great blessing in our life .But she is just human who fears unknowing future she fears being alone

I mean fear is a common feeling of old people.Thank you very much dear. It is my pleasure to see your nice comment on my blog .

  • Bala from India @Thank you dear for your thoughtful comment .By the way do you read TITHONUS by the poet Tennyson;
The woods decay, the woods decay and fall,
The vapours weep their burthen to the ground,

Man comes and tills the field and lies beneath,

And after many a summer dies the swan.

    Me only cruel immortality
Consumes; I wither slowly in thine arms,

Here at the quiet limit of the world,

It means to me a lot ..I understand this poem as a great lesson . Man should be not immortal The death is blessing of God as much as life itself .
Thank you again my dear friend .

  • Hi Noorany@She is a desperate woman like many women in her homeland . Perhaps she , or he or I ,it is not a matter of “who is the person?” but the most important point is how to express the fear of human from oldness. It is just example for many of us .
Thank you dear Noorany for your nice comment .

  • Hi lamlom@ Her spring has gone so fast and it turns into a fierce winter she wishes to seeing the outcome of her working hard . She loves life and she hates life. In the end, she just finds herself being happy to be living life, no matter what is thrown at her.
Yes ,every stage has its sweetness in our ages and we should be grateful for our Lord .Thank you lamlom for your nice comment .

  • Hi noaslpls @No two insightful beings disagree that the purport of oldness is a great blessing in our life .But she is just human who fears unknowing future , she fears being alone. She is scared of growing up. If she has a great faith she will be fortified by an unexplainable strength for sure and then she will look at the mirror with a smile.

Thank you noaslpls for a very nice comment.
