MEDIA FRAMING THEORY

Framing, as a theory of mass communication, refers to how the media packages and presents information to the public. According to the theory, the media highlights certain events and then places them within a particular context to encourage or discourage certain interpretations. In this way, the media exercises a selective influence over how people view reality. Anthropologist Gregory Bateson is credited with first positing the theory in 1972. Framing is sometimes referred to as second-level agenda setting because of its close relation to Agenda - setting  theory.

What's your idea ?  Are we feeding wrongly by media ??

  • Oh Thank you Onee - Chan

That's a great solution. For sure  thinking and following the real evidence  can direct us to reliable information.

Look at the pics again . As Janeth said : " The pictures speak by themselves." . But it is  really hard to look at the event in the second picture in the TV frame and find out the man right side is the real criminal ( terrorist one ).

  • Hi Darius!

I think we should sort out the news, combine them with the fact that we can see. That's why finding information for real is somehow needed. However, one shouldn't make a conclusion just with some pieces of information.

In my humble opinion, we must use our brain much and we must be honest to ourselves so that we can ignore being fed wrongly by media.

Just a suggestion (please ignore if you don't like), this topic is great as a discussion.

    Thank you. :)

  • Thank you Janeth   for sharing your idea .

In this way  we can't trust media at all. They can show dark sides of everything about everyone, each country or society.

Have you ever thought about our judgments based on what media present?

    Can it be justice ?

  • This is an interesting blog Darius!! The pictures speak by themselves.  It is a fact that media manipulates us and affects our way of thinking.  It is a powerful "weapon" for political parties, governments and those who have "power" and want to spread their ideas....

    Thanks for sharing!

  • When  we call  media framing distorted (or as Mishaikh said  " Biaise" )  we are referring to a general term with a wide range of meanings. I would like to know your idea  about the  tricks  that media play for framing  the information.

  • Thank you  Mishaikh  for leaving a comment . But I think  I need you explain more about the word " BIAISE"  or maybe I should try to decode it like a detective .

I prefer you do it because I think the are so many  ideas are hidden behind this word . :)

  • I would use just one word to say about media BIAISE

  • Thank you Onee !

Yes you are right. Media empire is  at  Politics service.

It's still a question . How can we  find reliable sources of the news ?

  • Hi Darius!

Surely they do, and they won't stop as long as money and politics become the main reasons.

It's hard to find the truth, but it is not impossible.

Thank you for your blog. :)

  • Thank you all  for sharing nice ideas !

Olga !   Yes  These days it's like a weapon like other lethal weapons.

Rosemary !  you are right , It is really hard to know what's true based on what media are saying .

Rys !  thoughtful words !  Yes framing in small scale is what all the people are using to achieve their goals  and for sure media have the same idea and  are following  it  in a huge global scale .

Fizzy ! That's it . we can't trust  media but  it seems we are addicted because there is no other way to search the truth . Do you have any ?

Salma ! Good news  are not the politicians like we know about. Good news can enforce people so they try to inject poisonous news  little by little .
