seven years Earlier , I had a strong desire to learn English language. I went to the library to look for some books.
I found a book " learn English in 7 days". I was so excited for the title encouraged me , and I read it with enthusiasm waiting for 7 weeks without any advancing.
I set out to search for a new way ,I found advertisement of private institute " learn English for 7 weeks"; with our guarantee you will speak English in 7 weeks . beforehand at First pay ……………DOLARS"
I joined it with two dear friends of mine .hoped that we would be learnt English quit well in 7 weeks.
Unfortunately the professor was genius but not in English but in illicit gain of money from naives' packets .
One of my friends( Ali ezwain )asked him ; "sir are you sure you will enable us to speak English fluently in 7 weeks" .
" yes of course I will make you speak better than TONY BLEAR first of all, you must pay your fees" . the professor replied.
Another friend asked (Abu sejaad) him if he would be able to translate the MBC films . he replied ; " yes of course just pay and i will make you the best translator in Iraq.
I asked him if I would be able to read and understand English poetry and drama " of course ". He said " I will make you like Shakespeare . just pay".
three weeks later the forty student of our class became less than four they lost their money and left , as our professor was unqualified in English.
Ali ezwein , abu sajad and me studied up to 7 month . But it was useless.
We discovered , that our professor was just an artful man. He simply was no more an Arabic teacher.
When we demanded him to pay our money back because we could not speak correctly .he said I can't pay you because you are stupid lazy men and have no ability to learn. How you believe that you can learn English in 7 week .
till now I cannot understand the secret of number 7 .
Why swindlers always chose 7 days, 7 weeks or 7month to induce people.
Seven years passed and I still feel that I am just a simple learner , searches for a suitable way to learn English perfectly .

When I see learners who complete their studies , I have a childish belief in their own impeccable ,but unfortunately I realize that is a wrong ,the practice is the best teacher for learners . As you said “I think the only way to learn it perfectly is complete immersion”

Tawfeeq, what a sad and funny story at the same time. I really enjoyed reading it. It's a pity, of course, that there're such dishonest people who deceive gullible people who don't know that learning a foreign language is a long process. I have been learning it for many years and still don't know it in a proper way. I think the only way to learn it perfectly is complete immersion ( e.g. living or studying in an English speaking country, communicating with native speakers and so on.....).
Tawfeeq, you're one of the best learners of English I know. Your English is very good for communication and writing poetry. So, keep it up and believe in yourself!

Well ,I admit my stories are similar.
I have learnt many things outside the academic atmosphere especially from EC and watching movies they a perfect way to improve my skills like listening and speaking as well as writing and reading .

The teacher and those friend were very helpful factors to make me learn English well .and the factors had been very strong incentives for me to push with my dream to get in the University.
Oh ,how I miss those days.
I miss false English Institution which was run by 'non-English' teacher. The institute which has created the love of this journey inside everyone of us despite all other problems and the first one was the teacher himself but I should honestly say that I owe him part of my success in English. I know it may sound confusing and contrasting but this man has sparked the dream although he couldn't carry it out perfectly.
Anyway any period in our life is marked with a unique event which could hardly be forgotten.

hi rema ,I myself wouldn’t trust this teacher. How he promised me that he would make me speak fluently in seven weeks! But our enthusiasm to learn English had encouraged us to believe what he had promised us.
Later on we have learnt what is the best way to learn .we suffer from many ups and downs in our long journey and to make matter worse we have no chance to contact with English native speakers or even using Net.
But why I use number seven in my post ?
My answer is :I have been taught by this swindler that number seven always brings good luck. maybe this was the only useful lesson of that teacher .so I used it in my post to bring me nice comment as yours .
