I Gave Up Love

Who says that I can not live without you,

can’t bear this pain of separation?

I cried a lot when you’re gone

and passed sleepless nights,

but mind you, if you come back,

you will find me changed

and you will be disappointed.

You know why?

Listen to me carefully,

I have broken the old tradition of ‘lovers’,

I have given up “love”

Yes I remember this blog of yours and I put my reaction there too.  I found essence of the story imbibing me.  Thanks for giving me chance to read again.

  • Thanks, Mishaikh. I am happy to understand your writings. If you remember (maybe), I wrote a tale about forgotten love. It isn't the same but it means similar to this your story about "I GAVE UP LOVE".

Here is the story again for you to remember, if you like.

    Enjoy reading!

  • Thanks a lot Rose of your analysis.  Yes human emotions are like this.  I want my readers (especially you Rose) to feel the real compulsion of situation the poet is facing. The phrase "old tradition of lovers' in the second line is what you have explained in your comment.  The coercion of the dejection of not getting response to his love what one can say except I HAVE GIVEN UP LOVE (in spite it is unavoidable as you have comprehend).

  • Sometimes, we try to give up the love... but... the love never gives up us.
The love is like a boomerang. The love comes back to us without asking for permission.
For giving up the love we need the key, to close our heart, and to ice up our soul.
    Such a key doesn't exist.
We cry, we go through sleepless nights, we change...but ...we survive! We don't die!
We forget pain and sorrow, and if the love lures us out again to love again, we don't refuse. We don't have the power and the strength to resist. We humans fall in love again and again and again. Maybe a little less, always a little different, because we don't forget first love.

  • Yes it does ella. Thanks for the comment.

Our Urdu Poetry is full of all such compulsive emotion, which a soul suffers, bears and goes on in life. But the man of 'words' (poets and prose writers), have the courage to expose their wounds to the public.

Thanks of your comment.  I appreciate that.

The poet has described the intense of circumstances (beloved is not giving even a heed to his love), so on the coercion of this situation makes the poet to say "I have given up "Love". (Mohabbat Chordi humnay)>
