In fact it was Olga´s blog post that made me write this one. Thinking what I could share there, a book by an austrian psychologist came to mind about which I wanted to report there. It probably had went off topic so that I decided to open a new blog. here it goes:

The name of the psychologist was Paul Watzlawik. And the title is "manual to unhappiness". Paul wrote and collected some short stories of which the following makes me giggle on ocassion:

A guy had bought a new drawing as to hang it to the wall. Trying to hang it up he found out that he had nails indeed but no hammer. Now as he remembered his neighbour had one he decided to ask him for it. No sooner than done he left his flat and went to the neighbour´s door. Wonderring how to ask the neighbour and what to say in case the neighbour refused to give him the hammer only negative answers by the neighbour came to his mind. The longer the guy faced the neighbour´s door the more mad he got. Finally he knocked on the neighbours door. The neighbour opened the door and got scared seeing the guy scolding: "Keep your darn hammer yours. I´ll go to the do-it-yourself-shop and buy me an own hammer".

lol can anyone find himself in that story? If so you got 99 points out of 100. rofl

  • Hi Mishaik, bravery is keeping doing despite having a deep look into devil´s eyes. Bravery is also what optimists need. Thank you for your comment.

Hi Olga, glad I could bring some joy in your life. You are right, as soon as we fall for pessimism we act to make things fail. Hence: Always look on the bright side of live :-)

lol AG, you are an economist. 99 points :-)

  • hahahaha, I can find myself in the story for sure.. I can be the owner of do-it-yourself shop, I guess :D

  • Yes sometimes it happens to me too, but thanks I never reacted in this way, though illusioned all such situations within myself.

    A good blog Zivi.

  • lol Svitlana, at least, your hubby is a smart guy. Only smarties are self-critics.

rofl Paula, self-awareness is the first step on the ladder to better. Pessimism were not even to take the first step. :-P

Roman, that is exactly what I guessed you.  I consider it a gift not to fall into despair staying objective in the end. LOL. I myself not always succeed in staying objective.

LOL Estanis, as about concerns of the heart, I guess, that is a tricky thing. I often happen to get blind having a plank nailed to my forehead that also covers the eyes from a clear sight.

Hey Onee chan, you hit the nail on its head. Now I understand why you are given them 3 Letters on your avatar. :-) Good choice.

Thanks to each of you for your comments :-)

  • Nice and funny story, Zivi

One should think of or prepare for failure. However, it shouldn't be combined with negative thinking. Both are not the same.

    Thank you for sharing. ^^

  • Yeah... but not necessarily it has the same ending, long ago I tried to flirt with someone knowing that she will bring me the brush off, unexpectedly I was wrong.  Now I'm not sure what'd have been worse :/   Like Olga's last blog says, things are already written or happens for one reason.

  • Hi Zivi!

I am really glad to read this blog, because I have such situations always! But luckily I don't get as mad as that guy, after talking with myself. But yes, sometimes I notice that I say to myself exactly like that guy, but not about the hammer. It can be anything. Now I know that I am not the only one like that! :)

    Thank you for sharing!

  • wait is that pessimism???.....rofl

  • Well Ziv it is not the first time I didn't get something right and definitely won't be the last.....rofl....

  • Haha, Zivi. Your story reminds me of my husband. He is a pessimist too. All the time I try to change his mind but I have failed till now. If he starts doing something new he always thinking about a failure. In spite of my support he never expects a good result of his attempts. However he says that pessimists are the only people who are happy when their dreams don't come true. LOL
