One of my friends asked me if there would be any way of uploading a movie file on blog here in MyEC directly from your hard disk not as an attachment but actually playing itself, and I just tried this method and confirmed myself it's worked. So here it is;***As this blog runs through 'html code', please be informed that you need to change some codes as I explained below. and that these codes would be disappeared if I didn't change them to something else like what I did below. Please read them carefully and follow the orders step by step without skipping any letter or codes, otherwise it wouldn't work.

This is a sample;prooftheirishdiscoveredafricia.wmvAs you can see above, it is working well.

  • Hello, Lynne!

If your file is exceed over 7MB, you'd better upload 'My Videos' on your profile. Then you just copy the html code (rather than 'embed code') from there which the option should be there after uploaded, and paste it wherever you want for a use.

Please give it a try & let me know if you have a further trouble.

    Have a good day!

    James

  • Hello James,

I tried this but didn't work for me.  A note  regarding the size of the file appeared.

Is there a way to limit my file to below 7MB?

Thanks James for all your helpful blogs.

    -Lynne-

  • Sorry for a trouble! Alexa!
I will send you a clear instruction to you on email, it will be different from the above.
This was for AVI movie file, and what I created for you is SWF flash file, although it works in a similar way.
  • Dear James I tryed to do as you offer here. I download a file and then copied codes and put it below the file, it was like you said. But I don't understad the fith number: fifthly paste this copied one into the below "blank" Please advise me again, it's really not easy for me:)
  • On the Windows Vista & XP Professional, Window Media Players (v11) are differently displayed each other (My lapto with Vista, my home desktop with XP professional), so it depends on your Windows Program.
  • Anele, I just checked your video file on your blog, it will definitely make slower especially for those whom have slow internet connections because your file length is 3m28s which the size seems to be quite bigger than normal (640 x 480, 64 kbps, 44khz). And also you used Windows Media Video V8 (video en-codec)as the most updated on is a version 9.
Plus, yours doesn't display like others with the menu icons of 'Start', 'Pause' & 'FWD & BWD'. So what you need to do is that you will see the functions if you click a right button of your mouth to play again or to pause.
  • Buffering isn't the issue as all the media files require to be buffered, and the speed depends on your broadband connection, so you shouldn't need to worry about it too much.
  • In fact it starts automatically on 'My Videos' blog but as you can see below, it doesn't automatically play (autostart ='false' not as 'true'). Hopefully this is also useful for you too. As I said before you need a storage in place like a hard disk, therefore you have no other choice but to upload on the one area and to play it in the other area where you actually want to be in display.
  • Anele!

It should work by commanding codes such as 'autostart='true or false', autopause or autostop in 'Embed' code, but it seems to be disappeared without taking these command functions. It looks like depending on Media players, which I honestly have no idea.

    But there is an alternative way by using Ning's (which is MyEC) flash player function, so please try the following instructions carefully;

    1) Add a media file on ‘My Videos’ on your profile. This is exactly the same way like when you normally upload your musical video file on your profile (My Videos).
    2) Open your uploaded media file.
    3) Click ‘Get Embed Code’ (in the middle area or location) underneath the video.
    4) Choose ‘HTML Embed Code’ and click the line where starting with ‘

  • Hi, Skyandhill!

    Yes, they are.
It's an imitation of Irish Traditional Tap Dance or River Dance.

    Thanks for your comment, anyway!
