How Old Are You?

I know it is so natural to be young or old, and to believe that those who are old were young and those who are young are going to get old. Honnestly, I do not know why but I have started avoiding answering this question. Is it because of my feeling of getting old? Or because of the number of years I am accumulating year after year? When I was a teenager and was asked this question I used to see my life as a long road with so many trees on both sides, and with nothing that can interrupt the course. I used to think that I have all the time in front of me to decide what to do and carry out so many dreams. With age, things: the way of thinking, appearance, dreams...,were just changing sometimes to favorable results, sometimes not.HOW OLD ARE YOU?Why asking this question?Just out of curiosity? To know the person you are talking to?To evaluate him to know to whom you are talking and how to talk to him?Being young or old, is it an advantage or a drawback?Do you regret getting old because you failed to carry out a dream? How old are you?Does it make a difference when you are a man or a woman?Waiting for your opinions

  • Hi Lynne,
Thank you for your contribution and for the picture. I'll take your piece of advice into consideration and I'll stop thinking about my age. But remember me if one day this question disturbs you.
    Regards
  • Dear Hanane,
This is quite nice. I think, I am still young to think about that... and, I don't want to sound so pathetic to discuss about this in the future... From your picture you're still young to think of that as well... enjoy your life, Hanane.
While we are still living, a lot of doors are open for new and good beginnings...

I hope you would find good meaning to this...

  • Oh, the myth of the beautiful youth! We should accept we are growing old, each time. If not, we lose the great experience of wisdom!
When I was a teenager, I asked my grandmother: 'how do you feel being an old woman?' 'Much better than you, darling' - she said.
I understand it right now. I am not as old as she was, but my state of mind, my balance is getting better each time.
"If the young people could know, and the old people could do!" that saying translated from Italian, shows that all ages have a disadvantage. (what a pity, ehhh?)
  • Hi dear Hanane .

Thanks for this outstanding topic .
As for me i ask it from people because of knowing that are they older than me or younger , because in our culture we have to respect all people especially people who they are older than me , because it is recommended in our culture .

    Cheers .

  • According to The Law of Attraction, instead of thinking, "I am getting older", I think, "I am getting younger." Enjoy the life, your living my friends. Peak Emtional State. Good luck and adieu.
  • Well great me, by having a great conversation skill can ask the lady's age from a lady in a way that the question won't upset her so much. Something like this: first I ask her how much she weight. This will already upset her little. Then I Ask example something like how much she spend daily for cosmetic. Which is already offensive and rude, I think. And now when she's already upset and I already look like the worst jerk to her, the question about age might not look so bad anymore. :P

Actually I can't remember asking someone's age. Maybe it was too long ago. It's not like I'm never interested of someone's age. It's also not that I get beaten up before I got into that question, since actually I usually don't ask those rude questions. :D I just don't like to ask questions, it's too much trouble to think what to ask and if I should ask. I think when people want to talk, they talk. If they don't they don't...

I think the reason why people ask this question, can either be for finding matching sex partner, or because of competitiveness.

PS. I have heard that the secret of long life span is love. Not that to have many lovers, but having only one. It's said, that it's what statistic show. People who have only loved once and strongly, live longest.
There's also many factors that make life span shorter. Like unhappy childhood and many other things.. It's said that also absolute celibacy won't increase the lifespan.
  • There was an old person 100 years old looking at a pretty girl and he said: " If I was 80 again"
  • Hi Le thi Hoa,
I am glad to hear from you,
You really make me feel sad. I can understand what you are feeling; But, I wish you no longer think about death or that you have a short time to live. I wish you concentrate on things yo have not done yet and on realizing your "many wishes"
    With the best of luck
  • Hi,
Im old, I'm 54.So I'd like to share some opinions.I really don't like age. This makes me weaker, I can't do something I like .For example: playing sports, travelling to far places, wearing modern clothes....My joys is being limited: I can't wacth TV and surffing net long because my eyes get problem.Besides that, I do things more slowly, clumpsy ,my movements are not flexible as before.I think of the death of my closers,my friends, mine aslo. I feel alone- I have onle a child, she's now studying far. Many things I haven't finished yet.I have many, many wishes, I like doing many things, enjoy many things .Time is too short for me now.
  • It seems for me to realize that I am growing older and older when I see my children turn to be teenagers...
