Game 2: Don't Say "Yes" or "No"

yes

In this game I will start by asking a yes/no question about your country. The first person to read it will answer the question in the comment section. The trick to this game is that you CANNOT use the words "yes" OR "no" in your answer. After answering the question, write a yes/no question (not a "wh" question) using "in your country" for the next person. (In your answer don't forget to tell us what your country is.)

no

Example:Q: Do people celebrate Mother's Day in your country?----------------A: Mother's Day is not an official day off from work in the U.S., but most people pamper their moms by buying gifts or treating them to a day of R&R.Q: Does your country have a monarchy?----------------A: We do consider Queen Elizabeth our queen, but she doesn't have any significant power in Canada.Q: Is sushi popular in your country?-----------------Language Note: This game is useful for speaking practice because it encourages learners to broaden their vocabulary and vary sentence structure when giving an answer in English.------------------Let's begin:Q: Do women in your country typically work outside of the home?(Remember, you don't answer this question because it has already been answered in the comments. Answer the question from the last person who left a comment. Make sure you are on the last page of comments before you answer and leave a new question.)

  • It depends on the giver Tara. A few are giving them to wish someone well.

Question: Do you find coffee shops in your country inviting?
  • Most Canadians I know celebrate Easter commercially. The Easter Bunny comes and the kids look for chocolate eggs around the house. Families get together and have a big feast. There are many Christians in Canada and some go to church on Easter Sunday, dressed in their Sunday best.

Do women in your country buy flowers for each other sometimes?
  • In Canada, kids in general don't seem to have enough free time. This is my own opinion, though. There are so many clubs and lessons outside of school and parents often try to involve their kids in everything! As a result there is little free time for good old-fashioned play. This is also true for adult students. To pay for school students must hold part-time jobs, which leaves little time for anything but work and studying. Free time is so precious, isn't it? Make sure you've got a little every day.

Are people in your country interested in America's new president, Barack Obama?
  • I beg your pardon, Nutt .I did not ask clearly.

In China, people are very fond of pets, especially cats and dogs. The elderly will come out with pets every day, exercise. Youth will be seen as pets and family members. In winter, people will put on clothes to pets. See one wearing clothes pet running in the streets, very funny!
Q:In your country, students have a lot of free time?
  • Hi Nutt. In my country we only have two seasons. The rainy and the sunny seasons only. Since those seasons are still too high for the water vapour to form ice crystals there's not even a small snowman... but we can manufacture a fibre glass or ceramic snowman... :-)

Question: Do people in your country love to have pets?
  • In my country, China, students can only learn their mother tongue and English, to the university there are a lot of languages can choose, such as Japanese, German, French, and so on. But English is still necessary to learn!

Question: In your country, many secondary school students after school hours much!
  • Rarely to find restaurant offers free foods and drinks but you can find this in five stars hotel.

Question: Are you with studying several languages in your school or university?
  • Many people still use libraries in my country. I think more people rent movies and borrow books during an economic recession rather than buying them. We go to the library at least once a week in my house. (Thanks for the reminder--I have a movie due tomorrow.)
Does your country offer free tuition for post secondary education?
  • Filipinos have a passion for singing. Me included! :-)
