Friendship on MyEC

Aren't these two different? Though they match not bad, don't they?
What do you mean by a friend? I would say, we have two diffrent meanings of the word "friend". Not sure, if not far more. But this number I can explain.

Actually, to start this post, I was prompted after I had read really deep thoughts on the Amal's blog.

In the beginning, I will bring an example. When I say "a glass made of glass",  do you think both of these words of "glass" imply the same? Why haven't you mistaken? Apparently, you know that these are two and you consider the context.

Friendship on a website is some kind of acknowledgment or agreement. This kind of friendship mostly starts with agreement and then is presumably followed by relations between the two.

Friendship
there is a relation in world
which is as valuable as gold
which has made me very bold
there is a relation in world
which is as sweet as lemon tart
and fills my heart with love
which is just like a twinkling star
and always makes my heart sparks
there is a relation in world

as old it grows
as hard it becomes
there is a relation in world
as far it goes it gets more close

There is a difference between the two meanings of the word "friend", for in real life frienship starts in opposite way. It starts with relations and people recognise each other as soul mates after a great deal of communication, being confident in each other.

Well, one more example. To be a friend in both meanings is like to be a doctor by one's vocation or by his position. Each of them cures but you feel the difference, don't you? The best thing is when both of them match in one person.

• Kindly share your opinion, what friendship means for you? (both cases might be explained)

• When you accept a new friend on MyEC, what follows next?

• What should be next? What do you expect when accepted?

• And the last, do you agree with "two meanings" concept?

What did you think on all of this?

there is a relation in world
which is as value able as gold
which has made me very bold
there is a relation in world
which is as sweet as lemon tart
and fills my heart with love
which is just like a twinkling star
and always makes my heart sparks
there is a relation in world

as old it grows
as hard it becomes
there is a relation in world
as far it goes it gets more close

  • Aaa! Guys, have you seen that? Watch those hilarious videos :D , here - Facebook And Twitter: What If The Real World Was Like Social Media?
  • Hmm, how could I miss this? How to Be a Good Online Friend from Tara.

  • lameduck2868299.jpg?width=96@Martin,

Let's stand on the beginner's side and leave intermediates aside for the moment. Supposing you were a beginner, would a single translated phrase be of great help for you? Try to follow that comical instruction and compare the result with what you read in English. Actually, either is true, the result is not perfect but not so bad too.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Even if it's lame as this duck. ;)

Do you have another way to settle the challenge?

  • clientforgoogletranslat.jpg?width=200@Martin,

Huh, you made me scratch my head, Martin! It seems I have read the whole newspaper after I went through all the links you had given. Not little reading even for me. My conclusion, it's all for intermediates. All of them need to be chosen but...

The only bright idea that visited my mind by this time is to make a comical suggestion that there is Old Good Magic Google Translator which is covered with rust unless you use it. This servise is waiting you here http://translate.google.com/#en|en|

Put your link into the window, push the button "Translate" and wait for a miracle! Oops! Just your page translated! Oh, don't forget to indicate your target language. ;)

All the people know #911 but it is still written everywhere as a reminder.

  • @Martin,

The thing which wonders me most is that some people indicate their level as upper-intermediate or advanced and then leave comments like "nice picture/blog, tnx" Are they ready to communicate?

I blame non-adequacy. So, in such cases the fault is not on your side.

The links are helpful indeed but for those who read them. It seems to be too much reading for beginners. Isn't it?

  • 040630beachvolleyball2m.jpg@Martin,

Firstly, I wanted to clarify what kind of communication people expect from you in most cases. In a chat? I have it turned off principally. In all the chats communication is limited up to 3 questions (name-country-whatsup). This is not communication in its true meaning. I believe that communication on the website implies communicating on a subject (that is in a blog; when you have a topic realized in a post, then you will have a communication).

Comment Walls also involve quite limited communication. Good thing that since these messages don't evaporate so quickly, people think a bit more before posting nonsense there. ;)

Actually, I think it can be compared to throwing a ball. When you send Wellcome message, you throw the ball. When you receive the add, you accept the ball. So, the ball again is on your side and your job is to throw it back so that it was caught. Now it becomes a job of your associate.

Tara, as always, resolves everything in a simple and ingenious way. I think a good example of "throwing a ball" is Tara's profile, and especially her post "The Second Blog." That is, you need to offer a person to write a post to express his thoughts and let you know about it. Great idea, don't you think?

It is impossible to please everyone. But we can try to do our best.
  • brokenheart0092831.jpg?width=200@Martin,

You are right, Martin. This is a truly interesting and meaningful discussion indeed. Due to all the participants.

What can I say? More likely that offended people are those who have inflated expectations. If it  was just clarified... I know, it's much easier said than done.

I guess we need one more Howto. Classical newcomers can be assisted to grasp the correct scenario (howto-behave-there). That is how to be a successful blogger/learner, or somewhat like that.

Next. Do you like to read Howtos? I don't! Therefore it should look attractively and funny like "Wow! Seven simple steps to become an EC Star!". It might be a letter made mixed of words and images. It might be slightly (or even highly) comical. Naturally, as Readme no.1 it should be indicated  the link with detailed howto-use-it explanations (where these same explanations might be hidden into spoilers to make reading easier).

At last. If logic fails such people can get help only out of their own experience and a huge amount of time. As the saying goes, water wears away a stone. Nothing can help such people unless they themselves.

  • @Forget-me-Not

    +1 (absolutely!)

    =)

  • We all do Oksana, the point is not to give up :))
  • @Forget-me-Not

Thank you for your kind words addressed to me. In fact, it's not always  I can collect my thoughts at once and express them clearly. As it was written by nida, sometimes I also have bad English days.
