To me the friendlist here in MyEC is a very good gadget for listing friends and enable them to gather personal information about yourself. You also might share intimate images (intimate not to mean sexual interaction or show off or something) but things you don´t want to be seen by everyone.
But it is also a chance for people to collect information about one and use them for an attack, offence and insult.
In wise prevision the creator(s) of this site provided us with the option to decide ourselves who we allow to see all the information you store on your page and installed the option to lock it for some people and allow other to see what you had garnered there.
According to the motto: " the more enemies, the more honour" some people do not care and allow everyone to look up what they stored -maybe because they don´t store anything or they don´t mind- or quite simply they don´t know about the option to lock up the door to their page in order to avoid burglery and robbery.
I myself decided to close the door and keep it locked against people that don´t belong to my inner circle of friends. Usually I speak a lot with people and get to know about them before I invite people or confirm friend requests. As there are different sorts of applicants. With some we chat only once and they knock on your page door and request entry. To those I usually apologise telling them that I were picky with who I share my personate information. Others I don´t feel it was good to let them in and let them know about me. My refusal not necessarily means that I dislike them ..... just that I am not sure. I need to know them better. And there are such people I trust in and am glad to let them enter my small refugium.lol.
But also I happened -an old clown that I am- being charmed and duped that I too early give the entry free and let them in. Hardly that I have done that they start spread rumours and gossip about me. Thanks god or allah or konfuzius or wakantanka (the big secret) and thanks to the creator(s) of this site they also installed a door keeper I can order to kick such people out. And I did..... believe me I did.

make friends with many members but open only a few people... it's about choices, get along with members but chose whom you can be comfortable with to share with

I've been a member of this club since 2012 but had you known me before? - NO ) you don't know me even now and you will never know me :D only few people know who I am. Why? - because I exactly think the same like you. That's why my friend list is almost tidy here. I hardly get close to people especially on the internet. No quantity but quality so that everyone is safe.

Well A738, yes I moderate the comments given on my blogs. That is a right given by the site founder and the team. And to be honest I appreciate this option a lot as I am able to rub out comments that come along too offensive and insulting.
About the page lock option I must say I enjoy the opportunity to protect personal information, particularly against those people that call me creep since I want to keep my secrets save but themselves not even publish the location of their home airport. Not to mention age or sex.

We are self-responsible for our data here and what we want to share with others and also whom we accept as a friend.
To speak about friends list: Some people just collect names on a list. That isn't my manner.
Sometimes, I get a friendship request...and as Svitlana already said...I accept because I don't want to appear unfriendly or even conceited. But, I also have to say...if those members never more contact me again, I delete them again. I don't need tons of friends, I prefer sincere and loyal friends who are interested in me and what I do.
And of course, the same goes for me in return to my friends.
Ziv.....good thoughts......but I too like Svitlana open my page to all......as a moderator I feel I must......not sure why I feel like that......but I do......I get requests from people I didn't even know existed.....LOL But oh well.......I guess I am not a very cautious person.......maybe they can do more with the info than I could even dream of.......but as far as rumors.....OMG.....being here prompts that......I used to get constant updates about what was said about me when I was not here........people making fun and such being friendly to my face so to speak when they said something else when my face wasn't here.......I look at it this way.......when they are talking about me......they are leaving some other poor soul alone......LOL Good blog!!!!!!
