Answer is no , accoring to a study published.To make sound smart , we must stop trying to sound smart. We can certainly say , a brilliant writing is simple writing . Cause it delivered relevant idea clearly and directly.
There are some ways to sound smart , you have something to say . It make writing easier and faster . If you don’t have anything to say , you forced to write something .
Choose simple words . use longer words only if your meaning is so specific . You should keep write sentence shorter that help to read and understand easier .
Keep the paragraph shorter . That done to make reading easier .You can see it on Newspapers , they use short paragraphs .
Don’t be redundant or say something one rather than several times.

You are right , as a start we should keep to the simple way of expressing our thoughts . However , by time passing , I think that every writer need to use " big " or " smart " words . For me using them isn't to look smart it is away of keeping them in my mind for a long period , it is also away of making my texts beautiful and a good way to express deep meanings .
