  • There's my favorite pic of "Old Glory". To me this flag represented more than the 50 stars (or states) on that magical day back in 1969. The United States may have gotten there first, and to this day, we're the only ones to have done so. In my opinion, there should have also been a flag flown that represented our entire planet.

    In addition to our "nation's colors" , each of our fifty states also has a flag. California is known as "The Golden Bear State". That's a Grizzly Bear being flown. Unfortunately, they no longer exist in California. They were hunted to the point of extinction in the lower 48 states many years ago. Most of those majestic creatures are confined to the northern state of Alaska.

    Now it's time to throw some humor into this response. The link posted below will take you to the flag most politicians and lawyers pledge their allegiance to in my country. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z73LpJTjpXo I promise you, Captain Jack Sparrow makes no appearance in this one. Ehab, I posted a similar response to Noas a few months back. Still, it's always good to know what our flag represents. I know exactly what all three flags mentioned above mean. Instead of giving you the normal "black and white" answer that anyone can look up on Google, I figured I'd share with you my own thoughts and feelings. There's always a person with a beating heart standing behind any national, regional, or local flag. Now you know a little more about me my friend.

    Take Care.

  • Barbi, your flag is special and easy to remember~ giggling~

  • 2388406334?profile=original2388406368?profile=originalThe red background symbolizes the revolution and the golden colors were used to "radiate" on the red background. The five stars and their relationship represents the unity of Chinese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. The orientation of the stars shows that the unity should go around a center.

    The larger star symbolizes the Communist Party of China, and the four smaller stars that surround the big star symbolize the four social classes (the working class, the peasantry, the urban petite bourgeoisie and the national bourgeoisie)..More details, click here!

  • Thank you for inviting me to check out your blog, Ehab! This is quite interesting since a country's flag represents the history and its culture. That makes this blog colourful and educational at the same time. By the way, it is clearly written here that Lady Anne has already given some information about the Philippine flag. It's nice to learn about Egypt's flag, though! : )

    The national flag of Bangladesh was adopted officially on 17 January 1972. It consists of a red disc on top of a green field, offset slightly toward the hoist so that it appears centered when the flag is flying. The red disc represents the sun rising over Bengal, and also the blood of those who died for the independence of Bangladesh. The green field stands for the lushness of the land of Bangladesh.

  • hi

    irans flag has 3 horizontal band of color, green at the top, white in the middle and red at the bottom. green is a sign of islam, white the sign of peace and red is the sign of bravity of iranians.

    there is a sentence in the central part of our flag which is resembled artfully in the form of a single red word on the white background. the sentence says that ''there is no God but ALLAH''.

    there are margins of ''Allaho akbar'' in the lower part of green and upper part of red band which is repeated eleven times in each margin.its in white and means GOd is greatest. the reason of the repeatition for 22 times is that it reminds ppl of the date of iranians victory in holy defence.

    22nd of bahman.

  • Great topic, Ehab!

    Canada's flag is red and white (the country's official colours). It has a red maple leaf in the centre (the country's official emblem). The bands on each side represent the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

    Prior to adopting the maple leaf flag, Canada used the Union Jack on its flag. This symbolized Canada's ties to Britain. Eventually, Canadians wanted their own flag.

    "I believe that today a flag designed around the Maple Leaf, will symbolize and be a true reflection of the new Canada." Prime Minster Lester B. Pearson (1963)

    In 1963, Canadians were invited to submit their ideas for a flag, and a flag committee made the final decision.

    In my family, we make a Canada flag cake every year on Canada Day (July 1). Here's one from a few years back. Part of the tradition is finding the perfect maple leaf to use for a stencil. 2388337026?profile=original

  • Hello, Ehab!

    This is the flag of Russia:

    russian-flag.jpg

    The Russian flag is sometimes called the IMPERIAL FLAG. It consists of three equal stripes of white, blue and red. The first flag of this design appeared more than 300 year ago. Peter the Great adapted the flag from the National flag of the Netherlands. Later a black two – headed eagle on a golden background was added to the flag of Russia. The flag existed until the revolution in 1917. In the nineties, with the democratic changes, the tree – colour flag was restored again. On 21 August 1991, the flag was officially adopted by the Russian President and the Russian Parliament.

    In Russia the colours of the current flag symbolise:

    white-frankness and generosity;
    blue-honesty and wisdom;
    red-courage and love.
